Alex Garland Looking To Cast WARFARE's Kit Connor For Lead Role in A24's ELDEN RING Movie — GeekTyrant
Alex Garland's upcoming adaptation of Elden Ring is in talks with rising actor Kit Connor ( Heartstopper, Warfare ) to lead the dark fantasy epic for A24 and Bandai Namco. While nothing has been signed yet, multiple sources say both Garland and Connor are very much on board and want to make this collaboration happen. Talks are still early, and scheduling hurdles remain, but the pairing makes a lot of sense. Garland just worked with Connor on Warfare , a gritty war drama that also featured Charles Melton, Joseph Quinn, and Will Poulter. That film only strengthened Garland's relationship with A24, a partnership that now spans four out of his five feature films. So it's no surprise the studio is backing him again for what's shaping up to be one of its most ambitious productions ever. The Elden Ring adaptation was already an event, but locking in Kit Connor would mark a huge addition. Connor's rise has been swift from his breakout in Heartstopper to landing high-profile projects like the upcoming Netflix film A Cuban Girl's Guide to Tea and Tomorrow. If the deal closes, this would be another massive step in his trajectory. As for the Elden Ring film itself, Garland is writing and directing, with Game of Thrones mastermind George R. R. Martin producing alongside Vince Gerardis. Martin, of course, helped shape the lore of the original game with FromSoftware's Hidetaka Miyazaki. No story details have been shared, but it would make sense for the film to tell the story of Vyke the Dragonspear. It a really strong story, and if you're not familiar with it, you can read all about it here. With Elden Ring being such a huge and epic video game that has been a massive success, it makes sense that the property is getting the feature film treatment. The game's upcoming expansion, Elden Ring: Nightreign, drops worldwide on May 30. If Garland and Connor lock this in, it'll mark not only a reunion but a big creative partnership that could bring the Lands Between to life in a way that honors both the game's mythic scale and its somber, otherworldly tone. Given Garland's track record ( Ex Machina , Annihilation , Men ), and A24's willingness to go big, fans might be in for something truly special, an epic cinematic saga. Source: Deadline

Kit Connor stuns with polished stubble look at Berlin's ‘Sound of Prada' event
Actor Kit Connor debuted a more mature, well-groomed look in Berlin this week, turning heads at 'The Sound of Prada.' Known for his boyish charm in Heartstopper and his performance in Warfare, Connor revealed a grown-up style shift—sporting intentional, sculpted stubble that sharpened his jawline and added sophistication to his appearance. The fine art of stubble can easily go wrong—it can read as lazy or unkempt if not done right. But Connor struck a balance. His facial hair looked measured, full around the moustache and chin, neatly trimmed at the neckline, and long enough to show deliberate growth. Think less five o'clock shadow, more 'fresh from the barber chair.' It's a confident upgrade that suggests he's leaning into a new, more refined image. For those inspired to follow his lead, achieving this look takes more than just skipping a few shaves. Once you've got a couple of days of growth—just under an inch—use a beard trimmer with a close guard to shape the stubble. Precision is key: trim stray edges with scissors and outline around the jaw and neck. Shorter hairs are often more brittle, so maintain them with occasional beard oil and a nourishing shampoo to prevent dryness. Even if you're not fully ready to commit to a beard, stubble offers a middle ground: structured yet low-maintenance, stylish but effortless. It's a look that flatters most face shapes, especially when groomed with care. Kit Connor's confident appearance in Berlin is more than a red carpet moment—it's a grooming masterclass. His carefully curated stubble underscores the rise of intentional ruggedness, a style that's both modern and accessible.

How one gay kiss on 'Dawson's Creek' changed television forever
Picture it: May 24, 2000. The millennium had just dawned, Britney Spears was still a girl, not yet a woman, and the world of teen television was about to serve us an iconic queer pop culture moment we'd never forget. Dawson's Creek, notorious for angsty teens discussing existential dilemmas with a vocabulary beyond their years, showed the first passionate kiss between two men on primetime network television. to get a candid take on what's fresh and fun in + culture this week! Jack McPhee, the charming, gay heartthrob played by Kerr Smith, made history when he shared a heartfelt and unabashed kiss with Ethan, portrayed by Adam Kaufman. The brief scene was filled with courage and vulnerability, full of real and raw energy. For many queer teens watching, it was the first time we'd seen ourselves genuinely reflected, without caricature or comedic sidekick status, in a scene that mirrored our deepest hopes and fears. Jack wasn't comic relief; he wasn't a cautionary tale. He was a teenage boy navigating love, rejection, and self-discovery in the season finale, just like every other character on the show. Of course, the Creek was a primetime soap that didn't entirely reflect the real world. In a 2001 Entertainment Weekly article, Kerr Smith admitted that, while proud of helping to "break TV taboos," he drew the line at same-sex snogging once a year. "That's as far as I'm going to take it," Smith said, "I don't think teenagers need to see two guys kissing on a weekly basis." But that kiss proved that queer teen romance deserved space, visibility, and validation on mainstream television. The CW From that moment forward, the landscape shifted. TV execs realized queer stories weren't just groundbreaking—they were necessary. That brief kiss opened the closet doors of queer teen storylines we see today. Unlike Dawson's Creek, Ryan Murphy's Glee presented queer romance with exuberance, complete with show-stopping musical numbers and dazzling theatrically. However, the essence of that groundbreaking moment in the fictional Massachusetts town has been woven into every storyline since then. Netflix's hit series, Heartstopper, captured the innocence of first love. The power of Jack's kiss has even rippled through genres beyond teen drama. Most recently, in HBO's gritty, post-apocalyptic series, The Last of Us, Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and Dina's (Isabella Merced) relationship is central to the second season's storyline as showcased in the video game. Ellie's moment of romance amid a desolate world still shared that Dawson's Creek essence, full of vulnerability and unflinching honesty. Netflix Nick and Charlie kiss in 'Heartstopper' With one groundbreaking scene, Dawson's Creek established a legacy that enabled queer teen love stories to flourish boldly in mainstream media. But even more importantly, the show taught us that queer teens deserve to see their experiences woven seamlessly into the fabric of pop culture. Today's viewers, steeped and versed in diverse queer representation, might see Jack and Ethan's kiss as tame, perhaps even quaint, by compasrsion. But let's never underestimate the power of the "first." That kiss permitted countless other stories to bloom. - YouTube

Emmerdale fans all say the same thing about Lewis as Bradley Riches debuts
Emmerdale fans have been bowled over by the arrival of newcomer Lewis Barton following star Bradley Riches' on-screen debut. Lewis made contact with village mainstay Ross (Michael Parr) earlier this week, sending a letter to Butler's Farm which detailed their shared family history and explained that Emma Barton is his mum too. Long-time fans of the ITV soap will recall that devilish Emma, who claimed the lives of son Finn and ex James, was pushed to her death by Moira (Natalie J Robb), with Ross helping in covering up her secret. Fearful that Lewis' arrival could open old wounds, Ross resisted the urge to get in touch with the sibling he never knew existed but, knowing how lonely he's been without his family around him, Moira reckoned it was a risk worth taking. Left with food for thought, Ross decided to organise a meeting with Lewis, as the brothers met for the first time. The scenes in question marked the debut of Heartstopper star Bradley, who confirmed that he was joining Emmerdale earlier this year. The meeting was short, with Ross having seconds thoughts after his newfound brother started to ask about Emma. But despite having made just one appearance thus far, Emmerdale fans have already made up their minds about newcomer Lewis – and they're all saying the same thing! Taking to social media, X/Twitter user @corriedalexo wrote: 'I love lewis barton already!!, and they weren't alone, with @Wee_Westie29 echoing such a sentiment, writing: 'I'm loving lewis already.' It was praise across the board, with @blue_laur11 adding: 'I like the new Barton Brother Lewis he's going to bring cheekiness into the Dales him and Ross are going to be so sweet !!.' Fan Katie, meanwhile, said: 'Uh oh… I like Lewis already'. Talk about a first impression to remember! While Ross contemplates his relationship with Lewis, fans can rest assured that this is just the beginning for the newcomer, who will appear on a more permanent basis in the coming weeks. In fact, next week Lewis comes face-to-face with Moira! The crossing of paths comes in the wake of the slurry incident up at Butlers – John Sugden, you menace ! – and thus Moira isn't in the right frame of mind. The farmer is quickly overwhelmed by the bad memories it dredges up. Lewis, meanwhile, has a secret of his own as Ross learns that he's been growing weed! Making an impression in an episode largely devoted to the dastardly deeds of Joe Tate and John Sugden is no mean feat but Lewis managed it with ease, proving the perfect antidote to the ITV soap's darker stories. More Trending Bradley Riches understood the assignment, with his performance ensuring that Lewis would go on to achieve fan-favourite status from his very first line of dialogue. The character's dynamic with Ross is incredibly sweet and will provide us with the opportunity to see the softer side of Ross once again, which I would argue is when he's at his best. Much like the fans, I found Lewis a proper breath of fresh of fresh air and I look forward to seeing him slot into the village – and who he'll connect with. A friendship with Ruby or Steph, perhaps? That feels like a must. View More » Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 or stream from 7am on ITVX.
