Bayern Munich's Frans Krätzig joins RB Salzburg
After spending the last six months on loan at Heidenheim, Bayern Munich have announced the departure of Frans Krätzig (22) to Austrian side RB Salzburg for a reported €3.5m. As reported by Sky Germany, the Bundesliga side retain a buy-back clause in the midfielder, who has signed a contract until 2028. Krätzig played seven games across all competitions for Bayern Munich, and 35 games for the second team. In an effort to play more football, the former German youth international joined fellow Bundesliga side Stuttgart on loan last summer but failed to make an impact but impressed in the second half of the season while on loan at Heidenheim, helping the minnows secure Bundesliga football for the 2025/26 season. Advertisement Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund was quick to praise Krätzig, saying: 'Frans Krätzig was one of the first class of players to join the newly-founded FC Bayern Campus in 2017. He has continued to develop over the years, including becoming a Germany youth international and has now racked up over 20 Bundesliga appearances. He's yet another player who has learned his trade at FC Bayern and is now forging his own path in professional football. We wish him all the best.' RB Salzburg sporting director Rouven Schröder said: 'We have signed a new player with excellent football skills and a high level of game intelligence. Another positive is that he can play in several positions, meaning he can be deployed in a variety of positions.' GGFN | Daniel Pinder

Enzo Maresca responds to banned Chelsea star's trip to Conference League final
Enzo Maresca confessed he was in the dark over Mykhailo Mudryk's shock appearance in Poland ahead of tonight's Conference League final. The Blues will attempt to make history in Wroclaw this evening by becoming the first team to complete a clean sweep of the existing European trophies, but will again be without their Ukraine international winger. Mudryk is currently suspended from playing after testing positive for the banned substance meldonium while on international duty in November. Indeed, the 24-year-old's last appearance for his club came in this competition on November 28 when he scored in a 2-0 win over Heidenheim. Despite his ineligibility, Mudryk stunned supporters on Tuesday when he turned up in a local restaurant, decked out in Chelsea training apparel Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. The former Shakhtar Donetsk star would be eligible for a winners' medal were Chelsea to justify their status as strong favourites and defeat Real Betis. It is unclear whether or not Mudryk would celebrate on the pitch with his teammates in the event of a victory, particularly given Maresca had no idea that the £88.5million signing was in the city of Wroclaw when asked about his presence. Asked how pleased he was that the Ukrainian is here, Chelsea's head coach said: 'To be honest, I just … I don't know, he is here or is coming? 'He is here? I don't know. I am happy for Mischa to be here.' Maresca, meanwhile, told his team they can defy their critics and demonstrate beyond doubt that they have come of age when they face their Spanish opponents. The Italian issued a stinging rebuke on Sunday to those he believes had lacked faith in his squad – which is the youngest in Premier League history – following their 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest that secured Champions League football for next season, telling anyone who had doubted his team to 'eff off.' There was an equally fiery reaction from defender Levi Colwill who also swore during a post-match media interview. Victory at the City Ground brought the curtain down on a tense run-in as the Blues squeaked over the line in the race for the top five, wrapping up a place in Europe's top competition one year ahead of Maresca's own schedule. It also hugely changed the mood going into tonight's showpiece in Poland, with Chelsea now able to face Betis in the knowledge that whatever the outcome it is mission accomplished. Nevertheless, the sense after Forest was of a siege mentality having returned to the club, the like of which characterised earlier periods under such firebrand bosses as Jose Mourinho. More Trending 'I think it's a good feeling that the players react when there are some critics,' said Maresca. 'I think it's a good reaction from the players. Levi's reaction, my reaction, was just an outburst for the moment. 'In our bad moments in February and March when we dropped points many people were talking, and from our point of view they were not talking in the right way. 'Yes we are young, yes we are the youngest squad in the history of the Premier League, but at the same time they are men. 'So I also use that criticism to say guys, (Wednesday) is a chance that we can say that we are not young, we are mature enough, we can compete and we can do the right things.' MYKH DROP Banned Mykhailo Mudryk turns up in Chelsea kit unannounced on eve of Conference League final to leave club shocked Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) MYKHAILO MUDRYK is back in a Chelsea kit again after turning up unannounced at the Conference League Final. Head coach Enzo Maresca was taken by surprise when informed the troubled Ukrainian winger had popped up in Poland after months in the wilderness. 1 Chelsea's banned ace Mykhailo Mudryk turned up in full kit before the Conference League final Mudryk is currently suspended from playing after testing positive for the banned substance meldonium while on international duty in November. But it did not stop him making his own way to Wroclaw where he was spotted by fans wearing a club tracksuit in a steakhouse. It's believed he told them he is here to collect a medal. Maresca appeared caught off guard when it was put to him that the £62 million wideman was in town. He said: 'To be honest, I just... Is he here or is he coming? He's here. I'm happy for Misha to be here. I don't know, I just said that. I'm happy for Misha to be here.' Mudryk, 24, has played in six Conference League games this season and scored three goals - the most recent being in a league phase match at Germans Heidenheim. The player was a marquee signing for new Chelsea owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali in January 2023 - less than a year after the Americans spent £4.25 billion buying the club. It has not been made official whether Mudryk's B-sample was also contaminated but he has not played for them in 2025.
