Spencer Pratt: I've been misrepresented

Spencer Pratt feels he's been "misrepresented for most of [his] life". The 41-year-old star hopes that his upcoming memoir, The Guy You Loved To Hate: Confessions From A Reality TV Villain, will help him to clear-up some of the misconceptions that have dogged him throughout his time in the spotlight. Speaking to People, Spencer explained: "I've been misrepresented for most of my life — and honestly? That worked for a while. But the real story is way more interesting than the fiction, which is why I'm finally telling it, no holds barred, in my own words." Spencer - who has been married to fellow reality star Heidi Montag since 2008 - hopes the public will now see a different side of his personality through his upcoming memoir. The TV star said: "I poured everything I have into this book, sharing all the secrets, and I couldn't be more thrilled to share it with you." The memoir promises to reveal the "untold truth" behind Spencer's life. The book's synopsis explains: "Now, for the first time, Spencer reveals the untold truth behind the spectacle — a darkly comedic, unflinching and often surreal confessional from a TV villain who's finally broken character for good." Meanwhile, Heidi recently described herself as a "trailblazer" in the entertainment industry. The 38-year-old reality star was widely criticised in 2009 after undergoing ten cosmetic surgery procedures in one day - but Heidi thinks it was "important to be honest" about her cosmetic surgeries. Asked about her act of honesty, Heidi told The Independent: "I definitely was breaking the barrier and the fourth wall of what everyone was secretly doing in Hollywood. "Part of being a trailblazer is when you are the first one to do something, you're usually the most criticised for it. That's something I can accept because I never want to be a liar; that's not the way that I'm built." Heidi doesn't have any regrets about being so honest. She explained: "I wanted to tell the story of, hey, this is what I did and what a lot of people do; to break that facade and that mirage of what's going on in Hollywood."

English councils urged to install pavement gullies for home charging of electric cars

Local councils in England will be encouraged to install pavement gullies that link houses to the kerbside so that electric cars owners can charge their cars from home if they do not have a driveway. The new government scheme hopes to stop cables trailing across pavements, as EV owners in built up areas where off-street parking is scarce, try to charge their cars. The Department for Transport has said it will put £25m towards 'cross-pavement' charging – essentially a narrow cable channel with a cover on top. The government will also allow signs to advertise public chargers on motorways and A-roads, and fund 1,200 charge points for the NHS, including ambulances, as part of a package of measures to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles. Providing access to chargers is a key factor in encouraging drivers to switch to electric cars, which are far cleaner than petrol and diesel engines. However, charging can be tricky for 9.3m households without an off-street parking space, making them reliant on public chargers. The government levies VAT on the electricity from public chargers, making it much more attractive to charge using VAT-free home electricity. That has led to many drivers trailing cables from their homes over the pavement to their cars. The fund for charger gullies, at only £25m, does not represent a large investment for the government. However, if more councils rolled out gullies it could provide tens of thousands of drivers with the ability to charge at home. Heidi Alexander, the transport secretary, said: 'We know access to charging is a barrier for people thinking of making the switch, and we are tackling that head-on so that everyone – whether or not they have a driveway – can access the benefits of going electric.' Many councils have already rolled out cross-pavement charging. For instance, covered gully manufacturer Kerbo Charge counts 30 councils where its products can be installed, from Stirling in Scotland to Cornwall. However, other local authorities have been more cautious because of concerns over trip hazards on pavements and ongoing maintenance costs – as well as arguments over who has the right to park outside each house. Charger gullies tend to cost a few hundred pounds, with the total cost coming to about £1,000 when including labour. Other sellers include Pavecross and Gul-e. Michael Goulden, the co-founder of Kerbo Charge, said it was 'excellent news that the government recognises the importance of cross-pavement charging to encourage the adoption of charging for people without driveways'. Having to rely on public charging is a 'clear barrier to adoption of EVs' by people in urban areas, with energy from some rapid chargers costing more per mile than petrol, Goulden said. The change to signage rules has also been welcomed by charging companies, who are keen to increase usage of chargers for topping-up on longer journeys along motorways and A-roads. Delvin Lane, the chief executive of InstaVolt, a provider of rapid chargers, said it was a 'crucial step' to 'improve consumer confidence and bolster EV adoption'. He said: 'The UK's public EV infrastructure, so critical to mass adoption, is already largely in place, and now this signage will finally showcase it to drivers in a visible, accessible way.'

AI medical scribe sees ‘early success' for Cambridge North Dumfries Ontario Health Team

The Cambridge North Dumfries Ontario Health Team said they have been seeing positive results since implementing Heidi AI scribe in early 2025, July 9, 2025 (Sidra Jafri/CTV News). The Cambridge North Dumfries Ontario Health Team (CND OHT) said they have already been seeing positive results since implementing an artificial intelligence scribe earlier this year. In a release, the CND OHT said they began using Heidi, an AI transcription tool, used to take over the task of note taking and writing detailed care notes. They said Heidi has supported over 2,900 patient consultations weekly so far, which, according to one doctor, helped have more meaningful appointments with patients. 'Not having to focus on note taking, I can engage more with my patients, listen to their concerns, ask thoughtful questions and develop more personalized and effective care plans,' said CND OHT Dr. Cameila Singh in part. The CND OHT said the tool allegedly helped doctors and clinicians save over 530 hours in documentation per week. They've also claimed it helps lower stress and burnout and cut over 10 minutes of consultation with patients. Initial evaluation of Heidi was done over three months, with 169 doctors in varying specialties using the AI scribe. The CND OHT claimed the tool showed 70 per cent more accuracy in clinical records, with 80 per cent of note allegedly needing minimal edits afterward.
