13 ex Hibs players poised for free agency as it stands including cup hero

After a difficult start in club icon David Gray's first stint as permanent head coach, the team rallied and embarked on a fantastic run which ended with them third in the league. They are now looking to the transfer market to strengthen their ranks ahead of Europa League qualifiers, which will begin in July before their defence of third spot kicks off. It won't just be Hibs on the prowl for moves though. There are former players of the club who could also be in search of fresh clubs this summer as free agents with terms ticking down. Looking at players who have contracts expiring in June - with some in talks over extensions - here are some of the ex Hibees who could become available as it stands should nothing be agreed with their current sides.

The Kieron Bowie rise to Hibs and Scotland stardom as SPFL icon who made way for his debut pays tribute

The Hibees ace won his first Scotland call-up after a strong end to the campaign - but there is plenty more to come reckons hitman Liam Buchanan remembers Kieron Bowie as a gangly 16-year-old with questionable fashion sense when he first rocked up at Raith Rovers. But six years on he is certain the big striker is ready to fill his favourite shirts - for Hibs and Scotland. ‌ Buchanan made way for Bowie's big entrance into the professional arena at Stark's Park as a sub late on in a routine 4-1 win over Montrose. ‌ Now as he winds down his own career at Berwick Rangers he's loving watching the rapid rise of the kid that was fast-tracked into the Raith top team by the savvy John McGlynn that day in September 2019. Bowie is living the dream at Buchanan's boyhood heroes Hibs after winning a move away from Raith to Premier League Fulham for two years. His form since returning from injury saw him handed a call-up from Steve Clarke ahead of Scotland's June friendlies against Iceland and Liechtenstein. And Buchanan hopes the 22-year-old can grab his big chance to shine ahead of the World Cup qualifiers. He said: 'Kieron has done brilliantly since breaking through as a kid at Raith. 'He was really raw but obviously John saw something in him to give him a chance. From the off though you always knew that he had a good attitude. ‌ 'He wanted to work hard, he was a good character. 'Would I think he'd reach the heights that he has? Maybe not. But you could see that he had that work ethic at a young age. 'Kieron had a way that he would sort of glide and he was tall. ‌ 'He trained quite a bit with the first team that season. Sometimes he would even go and play centre half in training. 'It never fazed him. He would take it in his stride and had real confidence. 'He used to arrive for training with some really shocking pairs of jeans. He'd get stick for that. But he could take a joke. ‌ 'You sometimes forget how young they are. And how daunting it can be to come into a changing room full of experienced pros. 'He handled it really well. It was a good grounding for him. And he's kicked on massively. ‌ 'You could always tell he had an eye for goal. He could finish. And since then he's added size to his game, he's a big powerhouse now. 'John could see from the beginning, in all fairness to him, that he had the attributes. That if Kieran wanted to, he could actually go and be a really good player. 'I've gone along to see him for Hibs a few times this season and it's great to see how far he's come. ‌ 'I knew him from when he was a 16-year-old debutant to now going and playing for the team that I support. It's great to see him do so well.' Bowie is the latest fresh-faced hopeful to be called up as Steve Clarke looks to boost his firepower options ahead of the World Cup qualifiers. With Lyndon Dykes injured it's Tommy Conway, George Hirst, James Wilson and Bowie who will join the tried and tested Che Adams in the forward line. Buchanan said: 'I think Kieron fits the bill of a number nine for a lot of managers. 'He looks like a real asset for Hibs. Playing and training for the last year with Dwight Gayle is certain to have improved him. 'Next season now is a massive season for him. Hopefully he can go on and win lots of caps.'

Hibernian secure SWPL title as Linzi Taylor scores winner at Ibrox

Linzi Taylor said she had lived out a childhood dream after firing Hibernian to a stunning first Scottish Women's Premier League title in 18 years. The Edinburgh side, who finished fifth last term, sealed their surprise triumph by defeating nearest rivals Rangers 1-0 at Ibrox on the final day of the season. Taylor volleyed home the only goal of the game in the 74th minute before Rangers – who needed a win to overhaul the Hibees – had Laura Rafferty sent off in stoppage time. 'I can't believe it,' Taylor told Sky Sports. 'It's the stuff you dream of when you're a wee girl. 'I think a lot of people wrote us off. We're so together, everybody is in it for each other. This isn't just us as a group of players, this is absolutely everybody.' It was Hibs' first title triumph of the professional era and head coach Grant Scott said: 'I'm immensely proud, thrilled to bits. 'From where we started the season to come here to finish the season, it's a complete transformation in how we've performed. 'The togetherness in the group, that galvanisation, we've had a few knocks this year but the group have turned up almost every week.' Rangers' inability to claim the title meant it was a fourth different winner in successive seasons. Gers must now rouse themselves for next Sunday's Scottish Cup final against Glasgow City. Light Blues head coach Jo Potter said: 'Hibs are fully deserved winners. They've been super-consistent over the season and they've done exactly what they've needed to do.' Hibs supporters 'mugged off' as diehards sent to Easter Road in bus plastered with Aberdeen logos

David Gray's side are at in Leith this afternoon as the battle for third place in the Premiership continues A group of Hibs fans in the north-east have been left reeling after finding their minibus for the trip to Easter Road to face Dundee United embroidered with Aberdeen logos. David Gray 's side are in Leith this afternoon as they look to bounce back from the 1-0 defeat at Pittodrie last weekend that ended their 17-game unbeaten run in the Premiership. ‌ The Hibees are currently ahead of the Dons in third place by virtue of goal difference but know that a defeat to Jim Goodwin's Tangerines would see the hosts also draw level on the same number of points, with Aberdeen also in action away to St Mirren this afternoon. ‌ And Easter Road diehards who live in the north-east were shocked to see their coach for the journey south littered with Aberdeen badges. The North East Scotland Hibees Supporters' club had hired the bus from Aberdeen firm Central Coaches and in a hilarious message on have seen the funny side of the mix-up. Their message on X said: "Attention Hibees" "If you see this bus parked please be assured it's full of Hibees. Our bus company has mugged us off this weekend." It comes just weeks after Hibs fans voiced their fury after Aberdeen had decided to cut their away allocation for last Saturday's clash at Pittodrie. ‌ The Hibees were given just 792 tickets for the game, with Pittodrie chiefs making additional section in the South Stand - were away supporters are housed - available to Aberdeen punters. The race for the coveted third place spot in the Premiership is set to go to the wire. Finishing third will bring a guarantee of group stage football in the Europa League or Conference League next season due to Celtic and Aberdeen's appearance in the Scottish Cup final. If they shock the cup holders at Hampden, the Reds will secure a two-legged play-off for a place in the revamped Europa League group stage, with defeat then seeing them drop into the Conference League groups. A win for Celtic means that whoever claims third spot will earn the riches of at least eight games in Europe next season. Hearts enjoyed that luxury earlier this season while Aberdeen were able to treat their fans to memorable trips on the continent in the 2023/24 campaign.
