Horticulture to be introduced as vocational subject in HP Schools

Horticulture will be introduced as a vocational subject in schools affiliated with Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE), Education Minister Rohit Thakur said on Thursday. Chairing a review meeting with senior officers of the Education Department and the HPBOSE to assess the progress of various educational schemes and discuss key matters concerning the department, Thakur said the decision to include Horticulture as a vocational subject in schools was taken in the meeting. He instructed HPBOSE to prepare a suitable curriculum for the subject and submit the proposal within two weeks and also emphasised the need to revive important academic subjects, such as Public Administration, in colleges to offer students a broader choice of disciplines, a statement issued here said. The minister reviewed the implementation of several important initiatives, including the Rajiv Gandhi Model Day Boarding Schools and Atal AdarshVidyalayas. He directed officials to expedite the recruitment process to ensure timely filling of vacancies in schools and colleges. Addressing recruitment-related issues, he said that all genuine demands of school management committee (SMC) teachers would be sympathetically considered and taken to the cabinet for appropriate action. He mentioned that the department has completed all formalities related to pending promotions and the matter of promotion of Principals has been forwarded to the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission for necessary steps. He instructed officials to ensure early completion of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) assessments for colleges and to work towards setting up well-equipped libraries to promote academic excellence and learning resources for students. Thakur expressed serious concern over the widespread damage to educational institutions caused by recent natural disasters. He said that around 510 institutions have been affected, with estimated losses amounting to Rs 30 crore. The Minister stressed the importance of engaging young minds in educational and creative activities and proposed organizing a plantation drive under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative near disaster-affected areas. He also directed officials to hold Bal Melas and science exhibitions for children under 12 years of age to provide them with new experiences and inspire curiosity at an early age. The Education Minister during his recent visit to Delhi, he held discussions with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He had apprised him of the damages caused to educational institutions in the State and urged the Centre to release the pending Rs 180 crore under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) scheme, the statement said.

Thakur said that it was important to recognise the dedication and hard work of teachers, especially those posted in remote and tribal areas. He instructed officials to ensure early completion of NAAC assessments for colleges and to work towards setting up well-equipped libraries to promote academic excellence and learning resources for students. He also expressed serious concern over the widespread damage to educational institutions caused by recent natural calamities. He said that around 510 institutions have been affected, with estimated losses amounting to ₹30 crore. He directed the concerned officials to utilise funds received under the PDNA (Post Disaster Needs Assessment) in a judicious manner, giving top priority to schools that have sustained more than 75% damage. He stressed that physical monitoring of reconstruction works should be carried out regularly to ensure timely and quality completion of repair and restoration efforts.

A total of 15,609 candidates had registered, and 14,352 candidates had appeared for the exam. HPBOSE DElEd result 2025 : The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) has released the results of the Diploma in Elementary Education Common Entrance Test ( CET) 2025 for the academic session 2025–27. The result was declared today, July 15, and is now available for download on the board's official portal, The state-level entrance test was conducted on May 29, 2025, across 87 centres. According to official figures, out of the 15,609 applicants, 14,352 candidates appeared for the exam, while 1,257 were absent. Of those who appeared, 3,203 candidates have successfully qualified for admission into the two-year diploma programme, which prepares individuals for teaching at the elementary level. The board clarified that the final result has been prepared on the basis of the final answer key, which was issued after considering objections received against the provisional key. All corrections following the verification process have been incorporated into the final evaluation. Counselling for sports quota candidates on July 21–22 HPBOSE has also announced that candidates applying under the sports quota will undergo document verification on July 21 and 22 at the board's headquarters in Dharamshala. The verification process will begin at 10:30 AM on both days. Eligible candidates are required to carry their original sports certificates and other necessary documents. A detailed roll number-wise list for this counselling round will be issued separately by the board. HP Board Supplementary Exams 2025: The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) has released the schedule for the Class 10 and Class 12 supplementary, compartment, and improvement examinations for the academic session 2024–25. These exams are slated to be conducted in a single morning session, from 8:45 am to noon, beginning July 22, 2025. The Class 10 exams are scheduled to run until July 29, while the Class 12 exams will conclude on July 28. Applications were available starting June 10, with a last date of June 26 to submit without a late fee, and a standard fee of Rs 700. The board's notification clarifies that all regular, compartment, additional subject, and improvement candidates must follow this schedule. Students can download the detailed date sheets in PDF format from HPBOSE's official website under the 'Datesheet' section. This year, the revised Class 12th HPBOSE results showed that 88.64 per cent of the students who appeared in the exam held in March have passed, a marked improvement from the previous figure of 83.16 per cent. According to reports, this year, Mehak from St. D R Public Sr Sec School, Gagret, has secured the top position with 97.2% marks. Moreover, 76,315 of the total 86,373 students have now been declared passed, 3,838 placed under the compartment category, and 5,868 have failed. The initial results, announced on May 17, had shown 71,591 students as passed, 5,847 under compartment, and 8,581 as failed. The decision came after the Board corrected an error in the evaluation process of the English paper. Meanwhile, for the 10th class, the pass percentage for HPBOSE Class 10th is 79.8 per cent. Last year, it was 74.61 per cent. Saina Thakur from Neugal Model Public Senior Secondary School Bhawarna, tops the state board with a passing percentage of 99.43, followed by Ridhima Sharma (99.29%) and Mudita Sharma (99.14%). This year, 95495 students appeared, with 75862 candidates passing the exam. From the total, 13574 students failed, and 5563 will have to appear for compartment exams. The first rank 1 in the HP Class 10 exam in 2024 was bagged by Ridhima Sharma, followed by Kritika Sharma in the second rank. Kritika's total marks was 698 (99.71 per cent). The third rank in HPBOSE Class 10 last year was obtained by three students — Shivam Sharma, Dhriti Tegta and Rushil Sood. They have scored 697 (99.57 per cent).
