Poco made a last-minute change to the Poco F7, says it's all for the fans
The Poco F7 is generating a lot of buzz for its long list of upgrades and fairly aggressive pricing. Many of them were presumably pre-planned as is the nature of these things but turns out, Poco also made some last-minute changes to make the Poco F7 more appealing to fans and enthusiasts. According to Poco India country head, Himanshu Tandon, the Xiaomi spin-off brand initially planned to support the Poco F7 for only four years at the max. That is, it was supposed to get three years of major operating system and up to four years of security updates. But fans asked, or were asking the brand for more, and so Poco 'obliged' and decided to extend it by another two years. This means the Poco F7 will - now - get four years of major OS and six years of security updates from Poco. advertisement'It will be 4 years OS +6 years Security updates. Earlier we planned for 3+4 but fans asked us to extend it to 4+6. Hence we obliged. Hope that settles the confusion,' Tandon wrote on X, the platform previously known as Twitter. He acknowledged that the change would add extra cost to the company, but seemingly, it is ready to absorb it because it is focusing on giving long term value. 'There is cost associated with everything. But believe in giving long term value rather than focus on short term benefits.' The Poco F7 is shipping with Android 15 based Hyper OS 2. With Poco ramping up support, buyers are good to go for until Android 19, plus two more years until support runs out which adds another feather to an already feature-packed showing. The Poco F7 packs tremendous value overall but it all really narrows down to two key features. The phone is among the first to bag Qualcomm's freshly minted Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset and in India, Poco has put a massive 7,550mAh Silicon-Carbon battery inside it even as the global variant makes do with a smaller 6,500mAh. The Poco F7 also supports 90W charging and fast reverse charging up to 22.5W. There are other niceties too like a large and vibrant 6.83-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, stereo speakers, 50-megapixel main camera, and a stunning glass and metal design with IP69 dust and water resistance rating. The Poco F7 starts at Rs 31,999 in India for a variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. - Ends

Poco F7 runs Geekbench with Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset
The Poco F7 Pro and F7 Ultra use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8 Elite, respectively. The vanilla model is coming later this month and it will be equipped with another 8-series chip, the new Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. This can be seen in this Geekbench 6.4.0 scorecard from the Xiaomi 25053PC47G. Focus specifically on the CPU core clock speeds and the GPU, Adreno 825 – the 8s Gen 4 is the only chip with that GPU so far. Poco F7 (25053PC47G) on Geekbench 6.4.0 The first Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 powered phones are already out. This includes the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro, which will be the basis for the vanilla F7. The Redmi has a 6.83' 120Hz 12-bit display, a 50+8MP dual camera and a 7,550mAh battery with 90W wired charging. This phone has 12/16GB of RAM and between 256GB and 1TB storage. Going back to Geekbench, the Poco F7 unit that was tested has 12GB of RAM. Himanshu Tandon, who leads Poco India, posted a poll on June 10 asking 'What should be the ideal starting variant for a powerful device with a flagship level chipset?' The result was overwhelmingly in favor of 12GB. Poco exec hinting at 12GB base RAM capacity The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 is fabbed on TSMC's 4nm node (N4P). Like previous 8s chips, this one uses ARM Cortex-based Kryo cores instead of the new Oryon cores seen in 8 Elite and X chips. That's one Cortex-X4 core at 3.2GHz, three A720 cores at 3.0GHz, two A720 at 2.8GHz and two A720 at 2.0GHz. There are no A5xx series cores. Source | Via

Poco F7 and Poco F7 Ultra India launch teased, Flipkart availability confirmed
By Aditya Bhagchandani Published on June 9, 2025, 16:16 IST Poco has officially begun teasing the arrival of its next-generation smartphones in India, with the Poco F7 and Poco F7 Ultra expected to launch soon. The brand hinted at the upcoming launch through a new post on X (formerly Twitter), and a dedicated Flipkart microsite now confirms that the new F series models will be available on the e-commerce platform. Poco F7 and Ultra variant may launch together in India While the global variants of the Poco F7 Pro and Ultra were launched earlier in March, India is now expected to receive the base Poco F7 and the F7 Ultra variant. Previous teasers from Poco India Chief Himanshu Tandon had confirmed the Ultra's upcoming launch in the country. The Poco F7 Ultra is likely to feature a Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, a 50-megapixel triple rear camera, and a 5,300mAh battery, similar to its global counterpart. Meanwhile, the Indian variant of the Poco F7 could offer a larger 7,550mAh battery, compared to the 6,550mAh battery in the global version. It is also expected to come with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 SoC, a 50-megapixel dual rear camera, and a 6.83-inch 1.5K flat LTPS OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. F7 may be a rebranded Redmi Turbo 4 Pro The upcoming Poco F7 is reportedly a rebranded version of the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro, which launched in China earlier this year. Notably, while the Poco F7 Pro has already been introduced in select global markets, it is not expected to launch in India at this time. Although full specifications are yet to be officially revealed, the Flipkart listing and ongoing teasers suggest that Poco is preparing for a dual-launch event in India, with both the F7 and Ultra models possibly debuting on the same day. Poco F7 tipped to launch globally by end of May, Indian debut likely: What to expect
Poco appears to be gearing up for the global launch of its next-generation smartphone, the Poco F7. Fresh leaks suggest that the handset could make its international debut by the end of May, with the Indian launch potentially taking place shortly thereafter. While the company has not yet made any official announcement, recent developments hint at an imminent release. According to a post shared by tipster Yogesh Brar on X, the Poco F7 is expected to roll out in select global markets in the coming weeks. However, it remains unclear whether this launch window includes the Indian market. Adding fuel to the speculation, a Poco device bearing the model number25053PC47I was recently spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) website, further indicating that the Indian launch might not be far off. The standard Poco F7 is anticipated to arrive alongside the Poco F7 Ultra in India. Poco India's Country Head, Himanshu Tandon, had earlier teased the launch of the F7 Ultra, although no firm date has been revealed. It is worth noting that the Poco F7 Pro, which debuted globally alongside the Ultra variant, is not expected to be introduced in India, according to recent industry reports. Speculation around the Poco F7's specifications suggests it may be a rebranded version of the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro, a handset previously launched in China. If that is the case, the Poco F7 could feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, a robust 7,550mAh battery, and support for 22.5W reverse fast charging. The smartphone is also likely to sport a 6.83-inch display with a 1.5K resolution and come equipped with a dual-loop '3D ice cooling' system for enhanced thermal performance. With increasing chatter and leaks surfacing online, the official unveiling of the Poco F7 seems imminent. First Published: 25 Apr 2025, 04:32 PM IST
