‘007 First Light' James Bond Game From Hitman Developer IO Interactive Revealed
Hitman studio IO Interactive has shed new light on its upcoming James Bond game, 007 First Light, with the title getting an official reveal sometime this week. As announced via a post on the game's Twitter/X page, IO Interactive released an image detailing the silhouette of James Bond, unveiling its new name alongside the words 'game reveal this week'. Additionally, the hashtag 'EarnTheNumber' was included, alluding to the fact that the game would most likely feature an origin story detailing how Bond earned his 007 designation. First revealed back in 2020 under the name Project 007 , the upcoming game will feature an original story separate from the events of the films, with IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak previously stating during an interview that he hopes the game will kick-start a 'big trilogy' in the future, and create 'a young Bond for gamers', one that they can 'call their own and grow with'. The new game also marks a shift in focus for the studio, as IO Interactive is putting its renowned Hitman franchise on hiatus and instead placing all its bets on the 007 First Light, with chief creative officer Christian Elverdam previously telling Eurogamer that 2023's Hitman: World of Assassination (previously titled Hitman 3 ) will be the last mainline game entry for some time to come, although the title would continue to receive updates down the line. Hitman 3 (2021) For now, fans don't have to wait much longer for the first official game reveal of 007 First Light , as the title would likely make an appearance at either the Summer Game Fest showcase on 6 June or the Xbox Games Showcase on 8 June. Specific gameplay details and the all-important reveal of its release date or window would likely occur then, although the title was already previously confirmed for a release on the Nintendo Switch 2. James Bond video game from makers of Hitman will be unveiled this week
The developer behind Hitman has announced its upcoming James Bond game will be revealed in the next few days, with all eyes on Summer Game Fest. James Bond's history in video games is an abundance of lows lifted by the occasional bright spot, with GoldenEye 007 on the Nintendo 64 (and, argubly, 007: Nightfire) standing tall as the best adaptation so far. While it's been a dismal time for 007 in video games since, Hitman developer IO Interactive provided a sliver of hope, when it announced in 2020 that it was working on something called Project 007. We've heard little about the project since, aside from confirmation of a Switch 2 version, but now the studio has revealed the game's official title. As noted by the developer on X, Project 007 is titled 007 First Light. A brief synopsis is available on the game's website, which reads: 'Featuring a wholly original Bond origin story, players will step into the shoes of the world's favourite Secret Agent to earn their 00 status.' Nothing else has been said about the game, but a reveal is planned for 'this week'. There are no specifics on when it will be shown, but it's very likely it will pop up at Summer Game Fest on Friday, June 6. If it doesn't appear there, the next obvious candidate is the Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday, June 8. A Nintendo Direct is also rumoured to take place either this week or next, so it's possible 007 First Light could appear there too. Although if there is a Nintendo Direct this month it's more likely to be next week. More Trending In an interview from last year, IO Interactive boss Hakan Abrak described the game as having an entirely new James Bond untethered to the movies. 'It's completely beginning and becoming a story, hopefully for a big trilogy out there in the future,' he said. 'And equally important and exciting, it's a new Bond. It's a Bond we built from ground up for gamers. It's extremely exciting with all the tradition and all the history there is there together to work on this together with the family of creating a young Bond for gamers; a Bond that the gamers can call their own and grow with.' While the phrase a 'Bond for gamers' sounds like nightmare spew from Xbox's PR department, IO Interactive's excellent work on the Hitman franchise is enough reason to get excited about what it can cook up with the James Bond IP. In his last 10 knockout appearances in the IPL, Rohit has made 207 runs at an average of 20.70, with two half-centuries. However, it remains uncertain whether the case will impact BTS, and if yes, how. HYBE's statement regarding Bang Si Hyuk case A HYBE official addressed the Bang Si Hyuk stock fraud case, and shared the company's stance to Xports News on May 30. They said, "We cooperated with the investigative authorities' request to provide data regarding the actions of a former employee who resigned." According to the statement, it can be inferred that HYBE tried to shift the blame for fraudulent activities from its chairman to a now-resigned employee. They showed confidence in Bang Si Hyuk, by agreeing to assist police in the search and seizure process and shared all data needed for investigation against the ex-employee. About Bang Si Hyuk stock fraud case Bang Si Hyuk and associates allegedly misled investors in 2019 regarding HYBE's (then BigHit Entertainment) IPO plans. Despite informing certain investors of no immediate plans due to unfavorable market conditions, the company had already taken concrete steps towards an IPO by applying for a designated audit.
