Elderly man seriously injured after being struck by car during road rage incident in Logan, south-east Queensland
An elderly man has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after he was struck by a vehicle during a wild road rage incident in south-east Queensland on Saturday night. An altercation occurred between the drivers of a Holden Commodore and a Mazda 2 on the Mandew St overpass in Shailer Park, Logan, about 7.20pm. While the incident was unfolding, an unknown vehicle, travelling in the opposite direction struck a man in his 60s. He was then rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital with serious but non-critical injuries. The driver, who fled the scene following the crash has been urged to contact the police. Detectives are now appealing for witnesses or persons with a vision of the incident to also come forward.

A man remains in a serious condition in hospital after being hit by a car. Police allege a road rage incident occurred between two drivers. One of a Holden Commodore and another of a Mazda Two, about 7.30pm at Mandew St overpass in Shailer Park, Queensland, on Saturday night. During the altercation, an unknown vehicle, travelling in an unknown direction struck the man in his 60s. He was taken to the hospital with serious but not critical injuries. Homicide probe launched after WA man Elmars Kalajs dies in hospital following alleged Bedfordale assault
Police have issued a renewed appeal for information after a man found with serious injuries in a carpark in Perth's southeast died in hospital just a few months later. Elmars Kalejs, 53, was found by a member of the public in the carpark adjacent to the Settlers' Common Environmental Centre in Bedfordale about 12.30pm on April 18. He was lying unconscious near the driver's side door of his silver Holden Commodore sedan, with clear and significant head injuries. Mr Kalejs was transported to hospital in a serious condition with head injuries and broken ribs. He died two months later in hospital. CCTV released by police captures Mr Kalejs walking through a shopping centre car park on April 18, dressed in a blue and black chequered shirt and black hat, carrying a black backpack. Detective Senior Sergeant Jarrod Manson said even the smallest piece of information could hold the key to providing some answers for Mr Kalejs' family. 'Somebody out there may know what happened, and exactly how Mr Kalejs sustained these injuries. We want to find that explanation and we believe that's possible with the help of the community,' Senior Sergeant Manson, from the state's Homicide Squad, said on Tuesday. The family of 53-year-old grandfather Elmars Kalejs have spoken out and are desperate for answers after he suffered serious head injuries that months later claimed his life. Some of Kalejs final moments of normality were caught on CCTV, but what happened to him just hours later remains a mystery. WA's homicide squad are investigating the mystery surrounding a 53-year-old grandfather's death after he was discovered in a Bedfordale car park, in Perth southern suburbs. (9News) The 53-year-old had been sleeping in his car at the Settlers Common Environmental Centre in Bedfordale. On April 18 about 12.30pm he was found lying injured next to his silver Holden Commodore. He was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital with bleeding on the brain, broken ribs and a collapsed lung. "We just want to know what happened, and put our mind to rest." Police are also putting out the call for more information. "Elmars wasn't in the state where he could tell us what happened, hence why we're still here now trying to figure that out," Detective Senior Sergeant Jarrod Manson said. The homicide squad has been called in, trying to piece together the 24 hours before the grandfather was discovered. Daughter Courtney Mallard said the family just want to know what happened so they can have closure (9News) CCTV from a Maddington shopping centre showed the clothes he was wearing. "We're still unsure of how these injuries have occurred. It may be from a vehicle and it may be from an assault, and that's what we're here trying to figure out," Manson said. Flyers of information will be put into food hampers and handed out to homeless people in the area in the hopes someone knows something. A mobile police unit has also set up at the old Armadale courthouse until tomorrow. WA Police are also putting out the call for more information.
