Tina O'Brien and Jorgie Porter suffer awkward blunder on British Soap Awards red carpet

Coronation Street's Tina O'Brien and Hollyoaks Jorgie Porter have suffered an awkward outfit clash at the annual soap awards event. Coronation Street star Tina O'Brien and Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter suffered an uncomfortable blunder at the British Soap Awards. The actresses joined their co-stars on the red carpet for the annual event, which is taking place tonight. The world of soap's most famous faces have come together to honour the stars who've found themselves at the centre of some of the biggest storylines of the past year. The 2025 categories include Best on-screen Partnership, Best Newcomer, Best Storyline, Best Young Performer, Scene of the Year, Outstanding Achievement Award and the Tony Warren Award. ‌ However, Tina and Jorgie suffered an extremely awkward moment when they both rocked up on the red carpet wearing the exact same gown. Jorgie, 37, looked gorgeous as she stepped out in a sheer gold dress. The actress posed for snaps in the gown, which showed off her toned physique and left very little to imagination. ‌ She completed her look with minimal jewellery, including a silver diamonté bracelet and a silver watch, the Mirror reports. ‌ Her signature blonde hair was slicked back in a tight bun style, completing her classy look. Meanwhile, 41-year-old Tina, who is best known for playing Sarah Platt in Coronation Street, looked equally as beautiful at the star-studded event where she was snapped alongside her daughter, Scarlett Thomas. ‌ Similarly to Jorgie, Tina kept her accessories to a minimum, wearing only a small pair of earrings. However, she did go for a very different hairstyle, with her long blonde locks styled into voluminous waves which cascaded freely down her shoulders and rested on her chest. ‌ The two soap stars appeared on the red carpet just ten minutes apart, which thankfully prevented an awkward run in had they arrived at the same time in the same outfit. Coronation Street and Hollyoaks are set to go head-to-head in the Best British Soap category, while Tina's on-screen family, The Platts, are nominated for Best Family. They will be competing against the likes of EastEnders' The Slaters, The Dingles from Emmerdale and The Osbornes from Hollyoaks. ‌ Taking to social media to comment on the awkward situation, one fan remarked: "Not Tina O'Brien and Jorgie Porter wearing the same dress." However, while fans eagerly wait in anticipation to find out who will be crowned the winners, many have been left disappointed that the event isn't airing live on TV. ‌ The awards ceremony is airing on Thursday night instead to make way for the Britain's Got Talent finale on ITV tonight on Saturday May 31. Taking to X to complain about the delay in broadcast, one fan fumed: "It's ridiculous that the British Soap Awards isn't live… there's more hype for the soap stars arriving outside for something not even airing on tv for another week than there is the Britain's Got Talent final… sort it out for next year please @itv." A second echoed: "Soap Awards getting spoiled because ITV thinks people would rather watch BGT instead." A third angry fan chimed in: "The soap awards not being aired live is such a let down, who at ITV thought that was a good idea? There isn't any point watching it now... #BritishSoapAwards."

TV stars deliver all the iconic looks at the British Soap Awards 2025

One of the biggest nights in a soap star's calendar is upon us as the cast of the nation's favourite serial dramas step on to the red carpet. We are of course referring to the British Soap Awards, which stages its return this year following a one-year hiatus. The typically annual ceremony sees EastEnders, Emmerdale, Coronation Street and Hollyoaks go head-to-head to compete for Best Soap, with the stars of each respective serial up for a cluster of awards. With this year having been a huge one for all four soaps, with time jumps, anniversaries, shock returns and stunts galore – not to mention the incredible, boundary-pushing stories that we all know and love – it's safe to say that they've all pulled out the stops. The awards ceremony, which will air on ITV this Thursday, is currently underway, with the actors having hit the red carpet. Patsy Palmer, who is nominated for Best Comedy Performance, was looking fabulous in a blue crop top, with trousers and a jacket to match. The actress had plenty of storylines over the past year, reprising her iconic EastEnders role as Bianca Jackson, who was famously held prisoner in a lock-up by evil Reiss Colwell. Co-star Gillian Taylforth, who plays Kathy Beale on the BBC One drama, was pictured alongside 80s co-star Anita Dobson, who is up for Best Scene following Angie Watts' unexpected comeback as part of EastEnders 40th anniversary. Our hearts are full. EastEnders' Laura Doddington – aka the formidable Nicola Mitchell – was pictured during the arrivals too. The actress has left quite an impression on viewers as scheming Nicola, who is up for Best Newcomer. Elijah Hollway, who plays Harry Mitchell, looked suave in a black t-shirt and trousers, with a jacket a dark shade of blue finishing off the look. Elaine Peacock and George Knight stars Harriet Thorpe and Colin Salmon were also in attendance. Queen Victoria landlady Harriet wore a long flowing blue dress while Colin opted for a stylish black suit. Balvinder Sopal and Navin Chowdhry, who play Suki and Nish Panesar, reunited on the red carpet. Navin is up for Best Villain, with dish having met a shocking end earlier this year. The Hollyoaks cast were also out in their best gear, with Ste Hay star Kieron Richardson, Gemma Bissix, Tamara Wall, Isabelle Smith, Ashley Taylor Dawson and Jessica Fox among those in attendance. Gemma, who recently returned to screens as the deliciously evil Clare Devine, shared the red carpet with on-screen sister and real-life bestie Tamara Wall, who plays Grace Black on the Channel 4 soap. Friendship goals. Gemma wore a black dress while Tamara sported a black suit and a pair of patent high heel shoes to finish out the classy look. The Osborne clan, who are nominated for Best Family, also hit the red carpet, with Ashley (Darren), Isabelle (Frankie) and Jessica (Nancy) stopping for a picture together. Sienna Blake icon Anna Passey, who has been at the centre of some huge storylines this past year, was also pictured, wearing a yellow dress. Sienna is currently being drugged by her serial killer dad Jez and her granny Martha, who has dementia. Her long-lost twin sibling Dodger also returned to screens, and upcoming scenes will see the pair on the hunt for granddaughter Victoria. Kieron Richardson, meanwhile, attended the Soap Awards with husband Carl Hyland. The pair, who renewed their wedding vows in Portugal last week, looked dapper in suits. Lucas Hay star Oscar Curtis ate up the red carpet in a snazzy red, white and black blazer, while co-star and on-screen boyfriend Nathaniel Dass, who plays Dillon Ray, wore a stylish suit in a dark shade of pink, finishing out the look with a summery shirt. Nate's real-life girlfriend Ruby O'Donnell, who plays Peri Lomax on the soap, wore a flowing summery yellow dress. Ruby stunned audiences this year with a hard-hitting and emotional rape storyline as on-screen character Peri was assaulted by Abe Fielding. Oscar and Nate, meanwhile, continue to have a huge following online, playing much loved couple Lucas and Dillon – also known as HayRay, who are up for Best Partnership. And speaking of loved partnerships, Coronation Street favourite Vicky Myers – aka DS Lisa Swain – was pictured on the red carpet wearing a stunning silver dress. She is nominated with Alison King, who plays Carla. The on-screen couple, known as Swarla, have taken fans by storm, amassing a loyal and devoted following online. Luca Toolan, meanwhile, wore a black suit and a bow tie. The soap star is nominated for Scene of the Year for Mason Radcliffe's death. Luca bowed out of his Mason role after just a year, in horrific scenes that saw him fatally stabbed by his brothers. The youngster, was attacked by a zombie knife while protecting Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) who had intervened to help his former bully. After being rushed into hospital, hospital staff worked tirelessly to keep him alive, to no avail. Sarah Platt star Tina O'Brien was also in attendance at the event, wearing a beige dress with silver sparkles on it. More Trending And last but by no means least, the stars of Emmerdale took to the red carpet. Beth Cordingly, who has captivated audiences as Ruby Miligan, was among those in attendance, wearing a black dress. Joe Tate star Ned Porteous, who is up for Best Villain, looked every bit as dapper as his scheming on-sceen alter-ego in a black suit. Amelia Flanagan, meanwhile, wore a black dress as she took to the red carpet. View More » The actress was at the centre of a huge story as April Windsor vanished without a trace only to return months later, revealing she had been living on the streets. Hollyoaks boss reveals how Sun's Soaps Editor sparked supervillain Clare Devine's return

HOLLYOAKS boss Hannah Cheers has revealed what sparked off iconic supervillain Clare Devine's return - and it turns out it's me. The executive producer had just been announced as the Channel 4 soap's new boss and was in full planning mode for the show's changes when I ran into her at an awards show last summer. 2 And like I do every time I see a soap boss - I used my time wisely by asking/demanding/begging for the return of my favourite characters. But for the time ever it actually happened. I sat down with Hannah on set earlier this month for a set visit where she revealed how our conversation in the hotel bar had sparked off the most iconic comeback since Kim Tate popped back to Emmerdale. She told me: 'It was you! It was the conversation we had in the hotel in Manchester that started it off. 'We were talking and you said, when are you going to bring Clare back? And I was like, oh my god, it's a million dollar question, everyone talks about it. 'And I said to you, because at the time we didn't have any plans, because obviously we were working towards the transition, and I was trying to filter people out, and trying to re-engineer stories, and trying to make sense of all of that, and knew that it wasn't possible right there and then. 'But the interesting thing that I said to you was, tell me what it is about Clare that is so important to you, and so iconic, and you said, because she's the only character who actually doesn't give a hell about what she does. She enjoys being evil and so I took inspiration from that with Grace's story.' She added: 'In terms of Clare, you know, again, I took on board massively what you said about she enjoys being evil and we're never going to come away from that because she does. 'However, in bringing Clare in 2025, what I spoke to Gemma about right at the beginning was 'I'm not doing this and just bringing in the third iteration of like Clare that is two dimensional and that only has that layer and level to her. 'Not that she didn't in the past, but she, as you said, she rarely had true, true feeling and true kind of like selflessness. She had nothing, nothing selfless about her. 'And she doesn't now, except now she has a reason to have experienced and make herself vulnerable and be susceptible to that. 'So we do see a different layer. She doesn't like showing it.' Viewers know that Clare's return has seen her arrive with a child - Tori - who she and DI Banks effectively kidnapped from her grandfather Dodger. 'Clare absolutely sees herself as that child's mother,' Hannah added. 'And that's also what's quite enjoyable. And it's so galling to everyone else in the community. So that has given her the chink in the armour.' And Hannah also revealed that Clare will play a big part in the 30th anniversary in October - and clash with Tori's great-grandfather - serial killer Jez Blake. 'Well, yes, obviously we've got two kind of Hollyoaks titans here,' she teased. 'We've got kind of very iconic Hollyoaks faces. And it's not an accident that they are both in the show in the run up to the 30th anniversary.' There will also be a classic Hollyoaks stunt for the 30th - which won't be limited to one episode - more a celebration over the entire month of October. Hannah said: 'You can't do a Hollyoaks commemoration without some kind of spectacle. So there will be a stunt.' And it's not just the Blakes that Clare has to deal with - her original, tiny nemesis Tom Cunningham is back to take her on. 'How could we possibly bring in Clare Devine and not have her original nemesis in the show?' Hannah laughed. From Hollyoaks to Hollywood James Corden played a caretaker in the early days of the soap. The former American TV host doesn't have much positive to say about his time on the soap, claiming it was "hell on earth." Since his short-lived time on the show he has gone on to bigger things including smash hit comedy Gavin and Stacey. Rachel Shenton joined the soap as aspiring glamour model Mitzeee Minniver in 2010. Over two years her character was sent to prison, got pregnant and had a number of romantic affairs. Since leaving Hollyoaks she has won an Oscar for best live action short film, The Silent Child. Rachel has also starred in White Gold and All Creatures Great and Small Emmett J. Scanlan played gangster turned anti-hero Brendan Brady. Emmett played the love interest of Steve Hayes, with their romance delighting fans until it turned violent. Since his departure Emmett has appeared in Peaky Blinders, The Fall, Gangs of London and even appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Emma Rigby joined Hollyoaks when she was 15 as Hannah Ahsworth. Hannah's eating disorder storyline was the first of it's kind on TV while other plots included being caught in a fire, gangland drug dealing and running away. Since leaving the soap in 2010 Emma has gone on to star in ABCs Once Upon a Time in Wonderland as the Red Queen. Other roles include guest appearances in Death In Paradise, Ripper Street and Fresh Meat Nico Mirallegro got his big break with Hollyoaks starring as emo Barry 'Newt' Newton. Nico's main storyline in the soap was developing schizophrenia which culminated in a suicide pact. He left the soap in 2010 and went on to star in My Mad Fat Diary, Our Girl, Rillington Place, The Ark and Common, Penance, as well as the Mike Leigh movie Peterloo and was nominated for a Bafta for his role in period drama The Village. Ricky Whittle used Hollyoaks as a stepping stone to break America. He played one of the soap's resident hunks, Calvin Valentine, from 2006 to 2011 - when he was killed off at his wedding. After leaving the soap Ricky cracked America starring in teen drama The 100 and America Gods. He also appeared in Strictly Come Dancing in 2009. Warren Brown joined Hollyoaks in 2005 for a year as evil Andy Holt. His stint on the show consisted of date rape storylines and a crime spree, before eventually being killed off. After leaving Hollyoaks, Warren became a big hitter in TV playing DS Justin Ripley in Luther, as well as major roles in a number of dramas including Liar, The Responder, Homefront and Good Cop. Wallis Day played Holly Cunningham in the soap for years before leaving. In 2021 Wallis won the role of Batwoman in DC's series, taking over from Ruby Rose. 'Again, it's a kind of nod to the past and celebration of all things Hollyoaks. 'Tom has the upper hand to start with, which I think is what's so surprising about this story. And there's a surprise reveal of how we first finds Tom.'
