Foot Locker Home Court: London Was Strictly For the Local Community
Back in 2021,Foot Lockertook on the mission of refurbishing Clapham Common Court in SouthLondonto encourage more of the local community to play basketball. Four years later, the black-and-blue courts have landed back in the limelight with the retailer's 'Home Court: London' tournament. As part of celebrations forJordan Brand's40-year anniversary, the one-day event hosted last month invited twelve local basketball teams to take part in a classic 5v5. As well as platforming competing teams, Foot Locker also welcomed those in the neighborhood for masterclasses and hoop challenges to develop their skills on court. With live music curated by Nottingham'sLostBoys Channel, the Home Court event quickly got underway under the beating summer sun. As some attendees lined up for the slam dunk contest, others took their place around the main court to watch the tournament. After a nail-biting finale, Thunder Bellas was crowned the winner of the women's competition, while UFDN won the men's portion for the prize of an in-store shopping experience. Reflecting on a day filled with community-driven sport, Foot Locker's VP Neil Carter shared, 'Home Court: London showcased some of the best local basketball the UK has to offer. Basketball has always been at the heart of what we do as a brand, so being able to host this tournament for our community was hugely exciting. We hope to continue inspiring the next generation of basketball talent, and maybe even see some of them back on the court in future tournaments.'
