Major update after wanted Maccas robber ‘taunted' WA cops
A wanted man who allegedly fled to New Zealand before telling police 'catch me if you can' has been extradited to Australia accused of a violent robbery while armed with a meat cleaver almost nine years ago. Detectives successfully extradited Leroy Tawanda Tsuro, 26, back to WA from Auckland on Thursday night after an ongoing game of cat and mouse sparked when two McDonald's workers were allegedly threatened at a takeaway store on September 5, 2016. WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE: Wanted man extradited to WA almost nine years after alleged armed robbery. The accused was allegedly armed with a large meat cleaver when he stormed the eatery on Walter Rd East in Morley, in Perth's northern suburbs, just before midnight and demanded money. 'During the armed robbery, the staff received lacerations allegedly from the meat cleaver, which required medical treatment,' WA Police said on Friday. After the workers handed over a sum of cash, Tsuro allegedly took off in a Honda CRV. Another man was charged over the incident at the time. 'One of the men grabbed the female staff member ... and held the meat cleaver to her throat while banging on the till to get her to open it,' Detective Constable Ian Slivkoff alleged, reported The West Australian at the time. 'Both workers were injured ... (the injuries) were only minor but it was a traumatic experience for both of them. 'It was quite brazen and violent.' He continued to taunt investigating detectives, phoning them from New Zealand, saying, ''catch me if you can', WA Police allege. Radio New Zealand reported in April that Tsuro had fought extradition, pointing to his age — he had only just turned 18 — and time since the alleged offending occurred. Now in WA, Tsuro fronted Perth Magistrates Court on Friday charged with armed robbery. He was denied bail, with the magistrate saying he was a flight risk. Man accused of fatally shooting ex at Shelby Farms appears in court
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man accused of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend at Shelby Farms in October appeared in court on Tuesday. Jackson Hopper, 27, was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Ellie Young was back in court for a report date now scheduled for July 1. ORIGINAL STORY: Woman dead after getting shot at Shelby Farms; suspect detained This status hearing allowed both parties to tell the court where things currently stand. The state told the court they need more time to give the defense possible evidence that could be presented during the trial. 'All parties involved want to make sure all T's are crossed, all I's are dotted, and so this is a marathon, not a sprint. This is a very serious case, you have a loss of life, and a person facing a charge that carries life without parole if convicted,' said Leslie Ballin, Hopper's Defense Attorney. Both parties will let the judge know if they need more time on July 1 to continue to gather information or proceed with the trial. The judge told Young's family that having to reset the case is a part of the judicial process. At approximately 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, 22-year-old Ellie Young was fatally shot in the parking lot of the Visitor Center at Shelby Farms after she took part in a Breast Cancer Walk. Witnesses said that they saw Young's Jeep parked in a parking space on the lot. A white Honda CRV with Kentucky temp tags pulled behind her vehicle. The suspect, now known as Hopper, allegedly fired two shots into the back of the Jeep. As the Young exited the Jeep, Hopper allegedly fired at least one more shot into the victim as she laid on the ground. According to the affidavit, Young had recently broken up with Hopper. Man arrested in connection to deadly Shelby Farms shooting Officials say that after fleeing the scene of the crime, he led law enforcement on a multi-county chase. Tipton County Sheriff Shannon Beasley says the pursuit continued through Covington, where Hopper allegedly tried to run over the Tipton County Constable while the Constable attempted to deploy stop sticks. The Dyer County Sheriff's Office said that Hopper allegedly attempted to run over a Dyer County sergeant who set up spike strips at the county line. Deputies performed a PIT maneuver, causing Hopper to crash out on Highway 51. Law enforcement said he tried to fight off officers, but he was eventually taken into custody. When he was arrested, deputies found a handgun in his car. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

Surge in crashes caused by tourists driving wrong way on Scottish roads
The number of collisions caused by overseas drivers on the wrong side of the road has increased by 46% in a year. According to Transport Scotland, there were 35 collisions caused by overseas drivers' inexperience of driving on the left in 2023 – compared to just 24 recorded in the previous year. Recently, there was a collision at the Glencoe Visitor Centre entrance from the A82 where someone looked in the wrong direction and pulled out in front of an oncoming vehicle. In June 2024, a Chinese tourist killed a motorcyclist heading for the Highlands after driving on the wrong side of the A9 Inverness to Pitlochry road. Five years ago, a 30-year-old man from Germany was behind the wheel of a hired Citreon C3 when he ended up on the wrong side of the road before smashing head-on into a Honda CRV. His girlfriend, 24, did not survive the collision near Borlum Farm in Drumnadrochit on October 12, 2020. The Scottish Government and Road Safety Scotland have launched a campaign reminding visitors to drive safely and responsibly and, most importantly, on the left. 'Each year, those of us who live and work in the Highlands see a number of collisions on roads involving folk who are not used to driving on the left,' Scott McCombie, National Trust for Scotland's senior ranger at Glencoe National Nature Reserve, said. 'Just recently there was a collision at our Visitor Centre entrance from the A82 where someone looked the wrong direction and pulled out in front of an oncoming vehicle. Luckily, no one was hurt but it could have been more serious.' He added: 'We want to continue welcoming people to experience this amazing part of the country, so this is an important campaign that could save lives.' With international travel to Scotland continuing to grow, the campaign will see Drive on the Left wristbands distributed to visitors via the hospitality sector and car rental companies including Hertz, Avis, Enterprise, Sixt and Europcar. The wristbands will be available in eight languages, and Driving in Scotland leaflets will give visitors practical advice about driving on Scotland's roads. 'Scotland is a beautiful country and we want our visitors to make the most of their trip, but Scotland's roads can present real challenges for overseas visitors,' transport minister Fiona Hyslop said. 'With rural single-track routes, rapidly changing weather, unfamiliar road signs, and quiet stretches where drivers may lose concentration, it's essential that visitors are aware of the need to drive on the left.' Hyslop said the campaign will aim to equip overseas drivers with the information they need to drive safely on Scotland's roads, roundabouts and junctions. 'We are urging all visitors who will be getting behind the wheel during their trip to ensure they travel safely by planning ahead, staying alert, taking regular breaks and knowing the rules of the road,' she said.
