Brit left stunned after ordering a pint of Guinness abroad
A British YouTuber has slammed the quality of Guinness in the UK as 'depressing' compared to its 'creamy' Irish counterpart during a recent trip to Dublin. Danny, the face behind the Honest Places YouTube channel, has been busy touring Ireland's boozy hotspots, knocking back pints and rating pubs along the way. In a video posted to his channel in March, the content creator was left reeling at what he calls the 'ridiculous' difference in Guinness quality between the UK and its homeland. Documenting each sip he savoured of the black stuff during his pub crawl experience, Danny remarked: 'You can never get the taste like you get over here. It's more creamy.' After further reflection, he added: 'The only annoying thing about Ireland is, which is sad and depressing, is when you get home and you want a Guinness, it is just nothing comparable. 'I feel like I need to stop drinking Guinness when I get home because it is like a completely different pint.' He noted that it felt similar to switching from a Stella Artois to a Peroni - a huge downgrade in his opinion. The content creator added: 'It is ridiculous. That is literally just Guinness to Guinness in the UK to Ireland. And that is annoying... so when you get back you can never get that. But it is what it is - it's only 30 quid a flight if you want to come back.' During his trip, Danny visited some of the capital's most celebrated pubs, including the legendary John Kavanagh The Gravediggers, which he hailed as serving the 'best pint of Guinness in the world.' But not all of Dublin's famed pubs lived up to expectations, with Danny admitting he was left unimpressed by the price of a pint at the iconic Temple Bar. Observing the total cost of two pints, at €20.90, while ordering, he said: 'It is a really good pub, I can't knock the pub, just the prices. That's ridiculous. That's what, £8.80 a pint?' He also commented on the hustle and bustle inside the tourist hotspot, adding: 'First time I've had a bit of a dirty glass because you know they are rushing it out here.' Despite the complaint over costs, Danny concluded his pub crawl on a more positive note after visiting The Guinness Storehouse, the brand's famous visitor centre and brewery experience. He crowned their pint the best of the trip, a 'ten out of ten,' but flagged one major drawback. Danny said: 'If you want to come here, because you should come here if you like Guinness, but the best Guinness you can get is at the Storehouse. But you have to pay €40, you can't just go there for a pint unfortunately.' The content creator also enjoyed standout pints at The Confession Box and Mulligan's, showcasing both the highs and the lows of Guinness tourism in Dublin. Meanwhile, Guinness fans in the UK can finally toast to the opening of a new attraction in London later this year. A brand-new Guinness microbrewery is set to open its doors in Covent Garden before Christmas. The £73 million venue spans 50,000sq ft across five buildings, and will feature various food and drink outlets, a glass rooftop with panoramic views, events spaces and a merchandise shop. The brewery will serve up 14 different limited-edition brews, including no and low alcohol options, offering a unique tasting experience for fans of the black stuff.

'I bought Dublin's 'best pint of Guinness' - and was floored when I saw bill'
A popular YouTuber went on a quest to find Dublin's best pint of Guinness - and revealed an alternative city to get a cheaper option after being left stunned by the prices A man who flew all the way to Dublin in search for the best Guinness says he was left stunned by the cost of the pint - and revealed where people should travel to instead. Danny, who films pub reviews on the Honest Places YouTube channel, went on a mission to locate the finest beverage. For starters, he opted to try Beamish at Mulligan's, instead of visiting the popular Temple Bar. He described it as "crisp and creamy". He then got his quest back on track and went to grab a Guinness at The Confession Box pub. However, he was shocked when he had to stump up £11 for the beverage. Danny compared the hefty bill in the Irish capital to Manchester, where he said he only paid £6.50 for it. He commented after tasting the drink: "Oh aye, that is pucker that. That is, oh bloody hell, that is smooth, that might be the winner you know. That was 11 quid by the way, UK pounds." His friend responded: "Standard price over here, isn't it?" And Danny, shocked by the price, retorted: "11 quid? Mate, I spent £6.50 in Manchester." On the advice of a local he met, he ventured to Cleary's Pub, enticed by the claim that it served the best pint in town, reports Belfast Live. After taking a sip, he declared: "It is nice, it is very creamy. It is the creamiest one I have had today. It is smooth that. It is definitely the best one today." He awarded it an impressive nine-and-a-half out of ten, suggesting there was still a smidgen of room for perfection. The quest continued at the Guinness Storehouse, Dublin's renowned tourist hotspot. Following the brewery tour, Danny and his mate ascended to the summit where visitors are treated to a pint of Guinness with their entry, and here, Danny found his top pick. Commencing his review, he noted: "The glass is spotless. Spotless. Good service as well. To be fair, actually, I know it sounds like a bit of a gimmick, but I can't think of much wrong with that. I think it is, I think it might be me, I think that is a ten. I think that is a ten you know. "The temperature is right, left to settle, can't fault it, so if you can't fault it, it has to be a ten. I think it is, I think it might be me, I think that is a ten. I think that is a ten you know. The temperature is right, left to settle, can't fault it, so if you can't fault it, it has to be a ten." However, the ultimate pint experience at the Guinness Storehouse came with a hefty price tag of €40 (£35). Sharing with his 91,700 followers, he advised: "If you want to come here, because you should come here if you like Guinness, but the best Guinness you can get is at the Storehouse. But you have to pay €40, you can't just go there for a pint unfortunately." Speaking about his overall trip, he added: "Accommodation over here is a joke in Dublin – I think it was about 200 quid a night and that's an AirBnB."

'I was floored by the price of a pint of Guinness when I flew to Dublin'
A YouTuber was gobsmacked by the cost of a Dublin pint after flying in for the quintessential Guinness experience. Danny from the Honest Places YouTube channel, notorious for his pub trips across the UK and further afield, touched down in Dublin after bagging £30 (€34) Ryanair return flights. Though his flight was easy on the wallet, he found Dublin's prices to be less of a giggle. "Accommodation over here is a joke in Dublin - I think it was about £200 (€231) a night and that's an AirBnB," Danny quipped, taking a jab at the hefty living costs. "If you can afford Dublin, you can afford anywhere." On a mission to taste the crème de la crème of Dublin stout, Danny bypassed the touristy Temple Bar and made a beeline for Mulligan's on Poolbeg Street, famed amongst locals for pouring a top-notch pint. Breaking with expectation, he opted for a Beamish, hailing it as "crisp and creamy", reports the Irish Mirror. His crawl continued to The Confession Box on Marlborough Street, where he circled back to a Guinness. Post gulp, he declared: "Oh aye, that is pucker that. That is, oh bloody hell, that is smooth, that might be the winner you know. That was 11 quid by the way, UK pounds (€12.75)." His mate joined the conversation: "Standard price over here, isn't it?" leaving Danny, clearly taken aback, responding: "11 quid? Mate, I spent £6.50 (€7.53) in Manchester." (Image: Youtube, Honest Places) Following a hot tip from a local, Danny legged it to Cleary's Pub, snagging what he was promised would be the town's top-notch pint. Upon giving it a go, he remarked: "It is nice, it is very creamy. It is the creamiest one I have had today. It is smooth that. It is definitely the best one today." He rated the brew an ace 9.5 out of 10, conceding it was near perfection but just shy of the full mark. However, the pinnacle of Danny's Guinness taste-test was at none other than Dublin's iconic Guinness Storehouse. Post-tour in the brewery and reaching the lofty heights of the Gravity Bar, he guzzled down the complimentary pint with gusto. Sharing his thoughts, he said: "The glass is spotless. Spotless. Good service as well. To be fair, actually, I know it sounds like a bit of a gimmick, but I can't think of much wrong with that. I think it is, I think it might be me, I think that is a ten. I think that is a ten you know. The temperature is right, left to settle, can't fault it, so if you can't fault it, it has to be a ten." (Image: Youtube, Honest Places) But bagging the best didn't come cheap – the whole shebang knocked him back €40. Danny dished out to his 91,700 devotees: "If you want to come here, because you should come here if you like Guinness, but the best Guinness you can get is at the Storehouse. But you have to pay €40, you can't just go there for a pint unfortunately. "I don't think you can because if you could, everyone would go in there and it would be slammed - so that's the best pint of Guinness. The best pint of Guinness where you don't have to pay €40 is a place called Bowe's Bar and you get pretty much good Guinness anywhere." Brit visiting Dublin realises 'best pint of Guinness' costs more than Ryanair flights
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info A YouTuber travelled to Dublin to showcase a side of the city 'people don't see' and to visit the 'local spots and backstreets where the real Dubliners drink'. Danny runs the Honest Places YouTube channel that features him frequenting pubs all over the UK and overseas too. And he recently spent just €35 on return flights to Ireland's capital where he was on the hunt for the best Guinness he could find. Despite saying how cheap the Ryanair trip was, he was critical of other prices, and joked that if you could afford to live in Dublin you could afford to live anywhere. He added: 'Accomodation over here is a joke in Dublin – I think it was about 200 quid a night and that's an AirBnB.' He started his video by walking straight through Temple Bar before getting to Mulligan's in Poolbeg Street – a boozer considered to be Dublin's best by many locals. However, he opted for a pint of Beamish that was 'crisp and creamy'. He then started his mission to find the tastiest Guinness, and headed to The Confession Box on Marlborough Street. (Image: Youtube/, Honest Places) Satisfied with his clean glass, he took a sip, and said: 'Oh aye, that is pucker that. That is, oh bloody hell, that is smooth, that might be the winner you know. That was 11 quid by the way, UK pounds.' His pal replied: 'Standard price over here, isn't it?' And Danny, taken aback by the cost, said: '11 quid? Mate, I spent £6.50 in Manchester.' He then, on the recommendation from a Dub he got chatting to, walked over to Cleary's Pub, on the promise that it was the best pint in town. Having a gulp, he concluded: 'It is nice, it is very creamy. It is the creamiest one I have had today. It is smooth that. It is definitely the best one today.' (Image: Youtube/, Honest Places) He scored it a lofty nine-and-a-half out of ten and despite the high score, there was still a tad room for improvement. And this is where the Guinness Storehouse, one of the most famous tourist attractions in Dublin, came in. After touring the brewery, him and his friend finally reached the top floor where people are handed a pint of the black stuff as part of their ticket purchase, and Danny finally found his winner. 'The glass is spotless,' he began. 'Spotless. Good service as well. To be fair, actually, I know it sounds like a bit of a gimmick, but I can't think of much wrong with that. (Image: Getty Images) 'I think it is, I think it might be me, I think that is a ten. I think that is a ten you know. The temperature is right, left to settle, can't fault it, so if you can't fault it, it has to be a ten.' Unfortunately for Danny, that meant this best pint of Guinness in the whole of Dublin set him back €40. He told his 91,700 subscribers: 'If you want to come here, because you should come here if you like Guinness, but the best Guinness you can get is at the Storehouse. But you have to pay €40, you can't just go there for a pint unfortunately.
