How female actors are demolishing their damsel in distress stereotype in cinema
Priyanka Chopra, in her latest film 'Heads of State', is redefining action scenes and proving that female characters no longer need a man to save them from distress. Women in Indian cinema are no longer sidekicks in their own stories. They're front and centre, and unapologetically powerful!Remember when female characters were included in films just to add glamour? Well, that script is outdated. Today's audiences demand substance, and female actors are rising to the occasion with roles that challenge norms, question systems, and even lead 'Heads of State', Priyanka plays MI6 agent Noel Bisset, a no-nonsense operative tasked with protecting high-profile politicians. She's not your typical secret agent; she's a powerhouse who takes down goons with ease and performs jaw-dropping stunts that leave you stunned. And it's not just about brute force, the way she handles her guns, with ease, is sure to make you fall in love with her character. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Priyanka (@priyankachopra) The climax scene features Priyanka Chopra in some of the most intense and brutal fight sequences, and the way she executes them only proves her versatility. While there isn't much scope for nuanced performance in a film as light as this, she still holds her own against the two leading project where she showed her acting prowess was the Russo Brothers' 'Citadel'. A Prime Video series, it featured her taking down corrupt agencies and making espionage look both brutal and 'Citadel', she isn't just a spy, she's the spy. Jumping off buildings, executing flawless combat choreography, and outsmarting shady operatives, she's the boss lady who doesn't need backup. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Priyanka (@priyankachopra)While we were still reeling from Priyanka Chopra's action sequences, another actor who took us right into that zone is Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Her action stunts alongside Varun Dhawan in 'Honey Bunny' were a total surprise package. Far from playing a victim or a love interest, she is the chaos. Packed with sass, action, and razor-sharp dialogue, the actor brought to life a fierce, unbothered assassin who'd rather break bones than transformation marked an exciting pivot in her career, away from the girl-next-door vibe to a full-on femme fatale. She even gave a glimpse of that edge in 'Family Man 2' where she played a deadly terrorist. View this post on Instagram A post shared by prime video IN (@primevideoin)While we praise these leading ladies for changing the dynamics in acting, we cannot miss Alia Bhatt. Someone who is celebrated for her powerhouse performances in emotionally intense films was a complete surprise package in her Hollywood debut 'Heart of Stone' alongside Gal Gadot. The new playground for the actor was filled with explosions, espionage, and elbow Keya Dhawan, a tech prodigy with dangerous secrets, Bhatt's character is sharp, strategic, and emotionally layered. But what took audiences by surprise was her physical transformation. From hand-to-hand combat to slick tactical manoeuvres, Alia trained rigorously for the role, and it showed in every action of the key highlights of her character was when she is seen engaging in a brutal fight inside a high-security lab, blocking hits, landing precise kicks, and using her environment to her advantage. There's no damsel in distress here, just a woman outsmarting and outpunching the best in the someone who hadn't done full-blown action before, Alia was a complete surprise as she jumped in we are talking about female actors completely changing the action curveball in cinema, Katrina Kaif's name shouldn't be missed. From 'Ek Tha Tiger' to 'Tiger Zinda Hai', the actor as an ISI agent, Zoya, is a walking, talking, spine-cracking rebel to anyone who thinks women can't lead action. Credit: YRF advertisementAlthough we would look out for Salman Khan and his unmissable swag in the film, Kaif made sure that her presence is felt in every scene. Someone who can kill, heal, and dance, all before the next explosion. She's not just Khan's partner, she's his equal and, often, his female stars aren't waiting for a knight in shining armour, they're suiting up on their own. These women are challenging long-standing gender tropes with every punch, chase, and witty what's the best part? Audiences love it. In an industry still catching up with the idea of women leading action franchises, we can just wait to see what refreshing element they will be bringing to the films.- EndsTrending Reel

Samantha Ruth Prabhu Was In A Toxic Relationship With Her Phone. A 'Drug Detox' Helped Her Break Up
Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition called myositis in 2022. In the latest episode of her health podcast Take 20, the Honey Bunny star said she made several changes to her life and was happy with the new routine except for one aspect. Her relationship with her phone. What's Happening On Tuesday's episode of the health podcast Take 20 with health coach Ryan Fernando, actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu revealed she understood a key connection between her phone and her ego after she went on a three-day silence retreat. "I had made so many changes in my life and I was pretty happy with the routine I had created for myself. The one thing that I couldn't control was this... "Going to the phone, this relationship with my phone which I was starting to question again and this false sense of importance that 'It's my work and it has to be done'. So I went on a silence retreat for three days without phone, with no communication, no eye contact, no reading, no writing, no stimulation of any kind. Your brain just comes down," she said in the clip shared on her Instagram page. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Samantha (@samantharuthprabhuoffl) When Ryan Fernando asked her whether it was like a "drug detox", Samantha Ruth Prabhu said, "Yes, it was". Staying away from all types of connection and stimulation was a "humbling experience", she added. "You realise that so much of my ego is connected to my phone. Who I am, how important I am, what I have achieved, and when it isn't there, you are just another living thing, like a worm, a bird. Nothing at all. Just going to live, you're going to be born, live and die, as simple as that. "And the phone creates so much of an artificial existence for you. So, it was quite an eye-opening experience for me and I would definitely repeat it. But I completely understand this fixation with your phone, how much it obstructs your health and optimisation," Samantha Ruth Prabhu said. Samantha Ruth Prabhu's Health Background The actor revealed her myositis diagnosis in 2022. Following this development, she took a break from films. Rumours of a budding romance between actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu and filmmaker Raj Nidimoru of Raj & DK continue to dominate headlines, even as neither party has officially confirmed the relationship. Their recent photos together and frequent public appearances have only deepened public curiosity. Amid this chatter, Raj's ex-wife, Shhyamali De, has caught attention with a series of cryptic social media posts on Instagram. While she hasn't named anyone directly, the timing of her messages has fans and followers wondering if they're linked to the ongoing buzz. In her latest Instagram story, Shhyamali shared a pointed quote. 'Time exposes, Karma corrects, The Universe Humbles." Just days earlier, she had posted another message that read, 'Create good karma. Help people and treat people fairly." Though subtle, the quotes have been interpreted by many as a possible reaction to the reports of Samantha and Raj spending more time together. The speculation intensified after Samantha shared photos from a recent trip, one of which showed her resting her head on Raj's shoulder during a flight. They also share a professional history. Samantha starred in Honey Bunny, the Indian spin-off of Citadel, which was directed by Raj and also featured Varun Dhawan. Is Raj Nidimoru Dating Samantha Ruth Prabhu? While neither of them has confirmed the nature of their relationship, the affectionate snap has led many to wonder if Samantha is subtly making things official. Who is Raj Nidimoru's ex-wife? According to reports, Raj and Shhyamali tied the knot in 2015 but separated in 2022. Shhyamali De is a psychology graduate and has worked as an assistant director with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Vishal Bhardwaj.
