Unlike its larger sibling, the NYT Mini crossword is free to play on the New York Times website or NYT Games app. However, you'll need an NYT Games subscription to access previous puzzles in the archives.

Completed New York Times Mini crossword for Wednesday, July 16.
It took me 2:29 to complete today's NYT Mini.
Wow, was this a tough one! The only answers I got without help from other letters were ADORE and SEA. I figured that MANIA might be "trend," but it quickly became clear that didn't fit with any Down answers.
I took an educated guess with CEDAR. That clue seems requires very specific knowledge (I've seen the Harry Potter films, but haven't read the books and there's absolutely zero chance I'm going to do that at this point because, y'know). That helped me get REP, which I initially thought might be "lbs," but that wouldn't make sense for a 'single' unit.
The "P" there led me to figure out STRIP, which led into MANIA and CLONE. With "-elts" on the board, the only thing that made sense for 4 Across was BELTS. BAM seems like a pretty arbitrary one to me. It took me far too long to figure out how CCS related to the clue – it refers to CCing someone on an email.
