‘Housefull 5' on OTT: Where to watch Akshay Kumar's comedy drama
Prime Video announced the global streaming premiere of Housefull 5, the fifth chapter of the comedy franchise. Written and directed by Tarun Mansukhani, the film boasts an ensemble cast of Bollywood heavyweights, including Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Fardeen Khan, Shreyas Talpade, Nana Patekar, Dino Morea, Chitrangada Singh, Chunky Pandey, Johnny Lever, Nikitin Dheer, and Soundarya Sharma. Housefull 5 is currently streaming exclusively in Hindi on Prime Video across India and in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. The movie blends the franchise's trademark slapstick comedy with murder mystery. The story unfolds aboard a luxurious cruise ship during the extravagant 100th birthday bash of billionaire Mr. Dobriyal (Ranjeet). But the festivities come to a screeching halt with his sudden and mysterious demise. What ensues is a game of chaos as three men—each claiming to be his long-lost son Jolly (played by Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, and Riteish Deshmukh)—begin a wild race to claim the billionaire's vast fortune. Released on June 06, 2025, Housefull 5 performed decently at the box office, surpassing the ₹100-crore mark. The movie won the box office battle against the much-hyped Mani Ratnam-Kamal Haasan film Thug Life. The Hindu review of the movie said, 'Director Tarun Mansukhani falters in carrying forward the unapologetic tone set by Sajid Khan. Hailing from the Dharma school, Tarun cocks a snook at animal lovers, generates racist jokes, and lets the camera loose on the cleavage but his heavy-handed approach results in diminishing returns. It is like descending into the gutter with the confidence that the clothes will remain unspoiled. The strand of suspense thriller is more potent, but the comic element does not serve it effectively.'
