Could Al Horford retire from the Boston Celtics instead of signing with the Warriors?

Fans of the Boston Celtics have mostly come to terms with the fact that vet big man Al Horford will join the Golden State Warriors as an unrestricted free agent. But recent reporting has hinted at the possibility that the University of Florida alum's career might end up going in a very different direction. Per reports, Horford might end up choosing to retire from the sport should the situation with the Warriors holding up a potential signing of the Puerto Plata native -- the free agency of Golden State forward Jonathan Kuminga -- not resolve soon enough. What the other parameters are that could push Horford in either direction, if any, remain unclear apart from the length of time sorting out his future with the Dubs. But this bears keeping an eye on for fans of the forward and his (presumably) former team. The hosts of the CLNS Media "How Bout Them Celtics!" podcast, Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance, took some time on a recent episode of their show to talk it over. Check it out below! Did Boston Celtics point guard legend Bob Cousy just challenge Celtics star Jaylen Brown?

Did Hall of Fame Boston Celtics point guard Bob Cousy just challenge Celtics star forward Jaylen Brown? In an interview with the so-called Hardwood Houdini himself on his 97th birthday, Cooz let it slip that he thinks that Brown is not quite on the level of costar on the wing Jayson Tatum, and that the St. Louis native being injured means that Brown is not going to be able to lead the Celtics back to the NBA finals in so many words. Some fans of the team took that commentary as a slight against the Georgia native. Others saw the words as a refreshing admission of where Boston is as a roster, given the front office has traded away or let walk in free agency a substantial part of the 2024 title core. The hosts of the CLNS Media "First to the Floor" podcast, Jake Issenberg, Ben Vallis, and Wayne Spooney, took some time on a recent episode of their show to talk it over. Check it out below! The Boston Celtics just extended head coach Joe Mazzulla

The Boston Celtics just extended head coach Joe Mazzulla. While the details of his contract before and after the extension are not public knowledge per the policy of the team, the assumption was that Mazzulla was heading into the NBA's 2025-26 regular season without a contract beyond that year, which is usually a sign that the coach is not in the team's long-term plans if one gets to opening night without an extension. So Mazzulla being tendered and accepting the extension hints that the team continues to trust the Celtics coach in that role despite the mission of the season taking a hard right turn after the injury of star Boston forward Jayson Tatum in the 2025 NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals second round series with the New York Knicks. Backup Boston Celtics big man Neemias Queta is set to have a career season

Backup Boston Celtics big man Neemias Queta is set to have a career season with his team. After an injury to star Boston forward Jayson Tatum set in motion a series of moves to reshape the roster to a cheaper version of itself while the St. Louis native heals, Queta has now found himself among the roster's candidates to play heavy minutes in the frontcourt rotation, perhaps even garnering a starting role with the Celtics. Queta had knee surgery this summer to the surprise of many, but seems to have recovered well based on a small sample size of the Portuguese center dominating for his National Team in FIBA EuroBasket play to date. Will he be up to the challenges he faces with the Celtics this season? Cohost of the CLNS Media "Garden Report" podcast, Bobby Manning, linked up with the Boston big for an exclusive interview about his expanded role with the team in the season ahead. Boston Celtics point guard Payton Pritchard just dominated another pro-am tournament

Boston Celtics backup point guard Payton Pritchard just dominated another offseason pro-am tournament. The NBA's reigning Sixth Man of the Year set himself a new personal (and all-time) scoring record in the annual Canadian pro-am tourney "Ball Don't Stop," besting his previous tournament record of 61 points scored in a single game with a new bar of 68 points. Fast PP did it against a mix of the best NBA and other pro players mixed with streetball sensations and NCAA standouts, not some collection of guys plucked out of a men's league, making the achievement not a minor one. Ahead of a season the Celtics will need the University of Oregon alum to step up in a major way for Boston, this is the sort of thing one doesn't mind seeing for offseason recreational activities for Pritchard. the hosts of the CLNS Media "How Bout Them Celtics!" podcast, Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance, took some time on a recent episode of their show to talk it over.
