Deborra-Lee Furness 'back in the dating game' following her bitter split from Hugh Jackman - after Aussie actor moves on with Sutton Foster

Deborra-Lee Furness is said to be back in the dating game after finalising her divorce with Hugh Jackman last month. The Australian actress, 69, is reportedly courting offers from potential suitors - but is holding back until she can find a partner who meets her high standards. 'Deb is finally starting to heal and talk about what she wants in her life going forward,' an insider told this week's Woman's Day magazine. 'She's got an incredible support system that's been there every step of the way, helping her to pick up the pieces of her life. They are encouraging her to start dating again.' They added that Furness had received offers from some 'incredible guys' but was holding back for the perfect match. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'She knows what she brings to the table,' the insider added. Last month, Furness and Jackman finalised their divorce a month after filing, Daily Mail exclusively revealed. A judgment of divorce was filed on June 12, making it official. The document, however, wasn't made public until June 23. Prior to the judgment being entered, two other documents were filed on June 10 - a 'Qualified Medical Child Support Order', regarding children's insurance, and 'Findings of Fact/Conclusions of Law.' The divorce was essentially disposed of some time ago, but the judge needed to sign off on the judgment after a proposed judgment was entered. Furness, who has two adopted children with the Wolverine actor, has received a 'spousal support payment,' according to an insider, who previously spoke to Daily Mail. 'A settlement was reached that Furness is pleased with, which includes a handsome spousal support payment,' they revealed. 'There was some back and forth regarding this financial agreement but, in the end, she got what she believed she deserved. Both are coming out of this financially secure.' 'There is not going to be any drama with this - it gives closure that she needed.' In May, Daily Mail exclusively broke the news of Jackman, 56, and Furness, filing for divorce to officially terminate their 27-year marriage. The film producer filed the complaint in New York on May 23 and, per the filings, everything has been ironed out behind the scenes. Other filings submitted by her lawyer include a notice concerning continuation of health care coverage, a proposed qualified medical child support order, a New York state case registry form (used to report child support orders to the state's registry), the settlement, a proposed judgment of divorce, and a certificate of dissolution. All that needed to be done was for the judge to sign off on the judgment. The divorce is 'non contested,' meaning there was not a major disagreement between the couple divorcing. 'They have worked out the details in advance and everything is ironed out in terms of a settlement, alimony and the expenses for the future of their children,' another source told Daily Mail. 'They are amicable and they are both fully committed to being the best parents that they can be.' They added that Jackman was 'looking forward to the future and not looking back'. Shortly after news broke of the exes' divorce filing, Furness shocked fans by releasing a statement using the word 'betrayal' when speaking about her 'traumatic journey'. Jackman has been dating his former The Music Man co-star Sutton Foster for months, although the timeline of when they began dating has never been confirmed. The pair are said to be ignoring any negative talk about their romance - which some fans believed started as an affair while he was still married - and are 'looking to move forward' with their relationship. A source previously claimed to Daily Mail that while Jackman 'didn't physically cheat' on his ex-wife, the 69-year-old believes they were having 'an emotional affair' and 'feels he betrayed her.' Although Jackman and Sutton haven't been spotted together in public since May - when they were seen holding hands in New York City - a source

X-Men 25th Anniversary: How it changed superhero movies for me and the world

On July 12, 2000, Marvel and 20th Century Fox held the worldwide premiere of X-Men on Ellis Island. This marked the beginning of a billion-dollar film franchise that would revolutionize superhero cinema as a whole. Set in a world where superpowered 'mutants' are common and discriminated against, X-Men saw Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) joining Professor X's (Patrick Stewart) titular team as they clash with the evil Magneto (Ian McKellen) and his Brotherhood of Mutants. The behind-the-scenes drama caused by X-Men's disgraced director Bryan Singer has somewhat tarnished the film's reputation. Nevertheless, X-Men helped define an entire generation of comic book movie fans, and its extraordinary impact can still be felt in superhero cinema today. Hugh Jackman just played Wolverine once again in Deadpool & Wolverine, and the upcoming crossover blockbuster, Avengers: Doomsday, will feature multiple actors from X-Men reprising their roles. Overall, X-Men set the stage for comic book movies to dominate theaters throughout the 21st century, launching a successful franchise with its thrilling story, compelling characters, talented cast, and thought-provoking themes. It helped make comic book movies more serious Instead of setting its story in Metropolis or Gotham City, X-Men presented its version of the 'real-world' America and explored the darker aspects of real human history and society. This storytelling approach added plenty of realism to the film, making its social commentary about prejudice and discrimination more impactful. The movie even opened with a young Magneto awakening his powers in a heartbreaking scene in Nazi-occupied Poland, setting the stage for a heavier comic book movie than what moviegoers were used to at the time. Also, the way the mutant characters in X-Men struggle to find acceptance in a fearful society made for a story that countless audiences can still find relatable. Recommended Videos However, as X-Men tried to present a realistic story, the film didn't quite show as much reverence to the comic book source material when adapting it for the big screen. In fact, the filmmakers seemed embarrassed by the X-Men's roots, as the film scoffed at the team's colorful costumes from the comics, exchanging them for matching black leather uniforms. The director had reportedly banned the cast from reading X-Men comics during production, forcing associate producer and future Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige to sneak some comics to them to help them better prepare for their roles. To be fair, X-Men came at a time when people were still learning to take comic books and their film adaptations seriously. Ultimately, things turned around as comic book movies became more popular and successful after X-Men, with Marvel fully embracing their comic book origins and finally giving Wolverine his iconic yellow outfit in Deadpool & Wolverine over 20 years later. It was the first superhero team-up film Long before the Avengers and the Justice League received movies, X-Men showed filmmakers how superhero teams could succeed on the big screen. The movie presented gripping emotional drama surrounding a group of dysfunctional characters who, despite their flaws, come together to fight for the greater good. The film arguably spent too much time on Wolverine and didn't give characters like Cyclops, Jean, and Storm enough depth and development. Nevertheless, X-Men became a prototype of comic book team-up films that succeeded it. It popularized the X-Men The X-Men were already well-known to comic book readers and fans of their animated series from the '90s. However, the X-Men reached a new level of mainstream popularity with the release of their 2000 film. The film introduced more people outside of comic book fandom to iconic characters like Wolverine, Professor X, Magneto, Mystique, Cyclops, Storm, and Jean Grey. The movie also turned many of the actors who played such characters into household names, with Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen becoming synonymous with their respective characters. However, the cast's biggest success story is Jackman, who went from an unknown theater actor from Australia to one of the biggest movie stars in the world, embodying the character of Wolverine with roles in multiple Marvel movies in the decades since X-Men's release. It launched Marvel's first cinematic universe Long before the Marvel Cinematic Universe was established, Fox's X-Men franchise was the closest thing Marvel had to an interconnected film franchise on the big screen. X-Men led to the development of two sequels, a trilogy centered around Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, a series of prequels surrounding a young Magneto and Professor X, and Ryan Reynolds's hit Deadpool trilogy. It also led to the standalone film, The New Mutants, as well as two TV series, Legion and The Gifted. While Fox's X-Men universe was a mixed bag in terms of quality, the billions of dollars it grossed demonstrated that superheroes with crossover stories could be a massive success at the box office. X-Men revived the superhero genre Before X-Men premiered in theaters in 2000, Marvel's only successful film at the time was 1998's Blade. At the same time, comic book movies had garnered a negative reputation in the '90s with campy, corny, and lackluster films like Steel, Spawn, and Batman & Robin. However, the success of X-Men reignited the superhero genre in film and television. As a result, X-Men paved the way for other Marvel blockbusters like 2002's Spider-Man, 2003's Daredevil, and 2005's Fantastic Four to score big at the box office. This gave DC the confidence to make a comeback with superhero blockbusters like Man of Steel and The Dark Knight trilogy. This also opened the door for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to rise up, with movies like Iron Man and The Avengers taking the world by storm, making Marvel the blockbuster giant it is today. Looking back on X-Men today, the film hasn't aged as well as Wolverine, as many modern comic book movies have raised the bar for the genre. Nevertheless, this blockbuster tale of mutants fighting for peace and equality gave all its cinematic successors the chance to succeed in theaters, as it showed how terrific comic book films can be in the modern age if done right. X-Men is streaming on Disney+.

Wrexham star comes clean on dressing room's brutal treatment of Hugh Jackman Hugh Jackman is one of many A-list celebrities to have visited Wrexham since the club was bought by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, but it didn't go down well with the players Hugh Jackman's visit to Wrexham with Ryan Reynolds didn't go to plan (Image:) A former Wrexham captain has revealed how Hollywood heavyweight Hugh Jackman faced a surprisingly cool response from players after a visit to the team's changing room. The Welsh club has become a magnet for star visits ever since actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over in February 2021. The Racecourse Ground has welcomed many celebrities from Tinseltown, with appearances from Eva Longoria, Channing Tatum and Paul Rudd. Comedy legend Will Ferrell also raised some laughs when he greeted the squad in February 2023. However, ex-Red Dragons skipper Ben Tozer has now shared how an encounter with Jackman received a less warm reception. Jackman, who featured alongside Reynolds in last year's Deadpool and Wolverine movie, was present in August 2023 hoping to see Wrexham triumph in their first match back in the EFL for 15 years. Despite the hype around the season opener in League Two, Phil Parkinson's team were beaten 5-3 at home by MK Dons. Following the disappointing result, the players weren't particularly sociable as Jackman ventured into the dressing room. Tozer, who recently hung up his boots, spoke about some of the star-studded visits while talking to Sky Sports Radio. He said: "The one where I had to pinch myself was when Will Ferrell walked in the dressing room before a game. I was like, 'I have to shake and bake with that guy,' because of Talladega Nights. He walked in and no one was bothered. Everyone was just a bit like, 'Can you get out please? We don't want anyone in here.'" Jackman, who is a self-proclaimed fan of the club, posted a heartfelt tribute to Wrexham on Instagram in July 2023. He said: "You don't even have to like @vancityreynolds. @wrexham_afc @wrexhamfx is the people, the town, the heart, the show that is balm for the soul." I have decided to go one step further, I am actually going to try out for the team." Wrexham dressing room's ice-cold reaction to Hugh Jackman as star speaks out

Hugh Jackman was snubbed by Wrexham players when visiting them after a game in 2023, despite other stars like Will Ferrell getting warm welcomes in the dressing room A former Wrexham captain has lifted the lid on how Hollywood A-lister Hugh Jackman was snubbed by players during a visit to the team's changing room. A whole host of celebrities have dropped in to watch the Welsh outfit in action since the club was bought by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in February 2021. Famous faces seen at the Racecourse Ground have included Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria, Magic Mike actor Channing Tatum and Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong. Will Ferrell also delighted the Wrexham squad by stopping off to say hello to them in February 2023. ‌ However, ex-Red Dragons skipper Ben Tozer has now revealed how Jackman was met with a much frostier reception later that year. Reynolds' Deadpool and Wolverine co-star was in town in August 2023 to take in Wrexham's first EFL game in 15 years. ‌ The club's opening match of the season in League Two was eagerly anticipated, but ended in disappointment as Phil Parkinson 's side suffered a 5-3 home defeat to MK Dons. And the Wrexham players were in no mood to talk when Jackman called in to the dressing room after the game to offer his condolences. Tozer, who recently announced his retirement from football, discussed rubbing shoulders with the stars during an appearance on Sky Sports Radio. "The one where I had to pinch myself was when Will Ferrell walked in the dressing room before a game," he said. "I was like, 'I have to shake and bake with that guy,' because of Talladega Nights. ‌ "But unfortunately, when Hugh Jackman came into the dressing room, he got the cold shoulder because we'd lost the game. He walked in and no one was bothered. Everyone was just a bit like, 'Can you get out please? We don't want anyone in here.'" "I will admit to you that when Ryan [Reynolds] bought that team, I did get more than one offer from rivals of that team for £1 to come in as a co-owner and it did seriously tempt me," Jackman said while appearing on the BBC's Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg show. ‌ "This whole thing of outsiders coming in and buying football teams, it feels a little, I don't know, easy. I have decided to go one step further, I am actually going to try out for the team."
