Former Nebraska basketball player Keisei Tominaga drops 12 points in the NBA Summer League
A former Husker put together his first double-digit outing in his final game of the NBA Summer League. Keisei Tominaga delivered 12 points for the Indiana Pacers in his first start of the Summer League. Tominaga played for just 19 minutes in the Pacers' 113-104 win over the New Orleans Pelicans but made substantial efforts to close out the tournament with a solid performance. He shot 4-of-13 from the floor, 2-of-8 from beyond the arc, and 2-of-2 from the free throw line. Tominaga had previously played in only two games for Indiana in the Summer League, accumulating three points in 15 total minutes of play. Indiana concludes the Summer League with a 3-2 record, missing out on the Summer League playoffs. Tominaga was picked up by the Pacers in 2024 after playing three seasons at Nebraska. He then appeared in 14 games with the Indiana Mad Ants, the Pacers' G League affiliate, before being called up to play in the Summer League. In his three seasons with the Huskers, Tominaga scored 1,074 points and finished seventh in school history for career 3-pointers, with 178 made. In his final season with the Huskers, he averaged 15.1 points per game, helping the team to a 23-11 record and a third-place Big Ten finish. Nebraska predicted to win eight games by Sports Illustrated
The ever-present offseason debate has begun as to what a successful season for Nebraska football would look like in 2025. Matt Rhule has been known to have teams make their jump in his third year. Now, the Huskers are at that point, and Sports Illustrated's Jeremy Purnell believes that eight wins is the minimum for the program. This would not be an unreasonable ask. Nebraska finished 7-6 last season, including a win in the Pinstripe Bowl against Boston College. Now, quarterback Dylan Raiola has another year under his belt, and an improved offensive line could make things easier for the program. Purnell believes that how they get to that eight-win mark is going to matter, as he wrote in his column earlier this week. "A 7-5 regular-season probably results in another lower-tier bowl game and a possible eighth win over an average opponent. That feels a lot like last season. I'm not debating it would still represent incremental progress, but in order to capitalize on momentum, the perception has to be different." This is certainly a reasonable expectation given the talent on the roster. Anything less would be a difficult pill for Husker fans to swallow, given that the schedule works in their favor. Nebraska misses out on four-star defensive lineman Valdin Sone
One of the top defensive recruits in the class of 2026 announces his college commitment on Friday. Four-star defensive lineman Valdin Sone committed to the Georgia Bulldogs. Sone decided among Nebraska, Auburn, Florida, and Georgia. Sone has seen his profile grow over the past couple of months. He participated in the Navy All-American Bowl, recording a quarterback pressure in the game. The four-star was born in Sweden and is a strong run defender with good size, standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 310 pounds. This is obviously a big swing and a miss by the Huskers, but if the current recruiting landscape has taught us anything, it's that nothing is official until National Signing Day. Nebraska's class of 2026 currently holds 12 commitments. The class is ranked No. 58 in the nation and No. 17 in the Big Ten according to On3/Rivals. Nebraska baseball star announces return for senior season
Nebraska baseball shortstop Dylan Carey will stay at Nebraska for his senior season instead of pursuing other professional opportunities. This was reported by Evan Bland of the Omaha World-Herald on Thursday. Carey went undrafted in the MLB draft, but was one of the most consistent hitters for the program last season. He had a. 288 average, with eight home runs, and 41 RBIs in 62 games. He has played in 176 total games for Nebraska, and has a career .273 batting average with 19 home runs and 102 RBIs. Carey will help lead a team that is losing several key contributors for the 2026 season. The Huskers will still have several veteran players on the roster. Centerfielder Riley Silva and first baseman Casey Sanderson are among the players looking to make big strides next season. Having Carey back in the lineup should provide additional support for a team looking to make a jump in 2026.
