Thailand's Opal Suchata Chuangsri named Miss World 2025
Opal Suchata Chuangsri of Thailand was crowned Miss World on Saturday in India, where the international pageant was held this year. Chuangsri topped a field of 108 contestants in the contest held in India's southern Hyderabad city. Hasset Dereje Admassu of Ethiopia was the first runner-up in the competition. Ms Chuangsri received her crown from the 2024 winner Krystyna Pyszková, from the Czech Republic. The 72nd Miss World beauty pageant was hosted by Miss World 2016 Stephanie del Valle and Indian presenter Sachiin Kumbhar. India hosted the beauty competition in 2024 as well. India's Nandini Gupta exited after making it to the final 20. Six Indian women have won the title, including Reita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999), Priyanka Chopra (2000) and Manushi Chillar (2017).

In a major leap into the financial services sector, Hyderabad-based Meenakshi Group has launched "Meenakshi Alternates" (M-Alts), its new investment platform, and announced its debut fund—the INR 700 crore Meenakshi Real Assets Fund. Focused on real estate, this SEBI-approved Category II AIF aims to tap into the high-growth potential of India's tier I cities. "Securing the AIF license marks a significant milestone for us," said Mahesh Katragadda, CEO of Meenakshi Alternates. "We are seeing strong early interest, and our team is evaluating prospective opportunities. Currently, we have three potential deals under due diligence." The fund adopts a hybrid strategy, blending both debt and equity investments, with a target corpus of INR 700 crore, including an INR 350 crore greenshoe option. With a six-year horizon, the Meenakshi Real Assets Fund will focus on 6 to 8 high-conviction deals in self-liquidating real estate assets that offer steady cash flows and equity upside. Suchata Chuangsri of Thailand has been crowned Miss World 2025, marking a historic first for her country at the 72nd edition of the international pageant, held this year in Hyderabad, India Chuangsri, a 22-year-old political-science student from Phuket, emerged victorious from a field of 108 contestants representing countries across the globe. She received the crown on Saturday from the reigning title-holder, Czech model Krystyna Pyszková. Chuangsri said she aimed to use the Miss World platform to raise awareness of breast cancer through her 'Opal for Her' initiative, which she has championed for over three years.
