'This would be my advice...': MS Dhoni sends powerful message to CSK youngsters after another flop show

MS Dhoni has shared a crucial advice for youngsters after CSK's 10th loss in IPL 2025. Chennai Super Kings lost to Rajasthan Royals by 6 wickets on Tuesday. After the match, Dhoni sent a strong message to CSK youngsters. read more Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni had a clear message for the youngsters after his team suffered another disappointing loss in the IPL 2025 season, this time against Rajasthan Royals. Akash Madhwal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi performed well for RR as they ended the season with a 6-wicket win over CSK on Tuesday. While Dhoni praised a few individual efforts, he pointed out what the youngsters need to improve on going forward. This was the 10th match that CSK lost this season and they have just one game left. This is arguably the worst season for CSK in their IPL history. Even if they win their last league game, CSK will likely remain at the bottom of the points table due to their poor NRR. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Dhoni's advice to youngsters Speaking after the match, Dhoni said, 'It was a good total, Brevis' innings was really nice. He took risks, and that's the phase we want to improve. The run rate was up but we lost one or two more wickets early.' He also mentioned young bowler Anshul Kamboj, who impressed with the new ball. 'Kamboj is good, he gets a lot of movement and his deliveries hit you harder than expected. He's done well bowling three overs in the powerplay, which is never easy.' More from First Cricket Future of India-Pakistan cricketing relations expected to dominate Jay Shah's first ICC Annual Conference as Chairman But the highlight of Dhoni's post-match chat was his advice to the young players in the CSK squad. 'They have to try for consistency. If you're aiming for a 200-plus strike rate, then being consistent becomes difficult. They have the ability to hit sixes at any point, but it's important not to take pressure when expectations rise. It's about reading the game. That would be my advice to all the youngsters who have done well — don't lose focus and keep learning.' With the season almost done, CSK's focus will now shift to rebuilding and Dhoni has already acknowledged it. After the toss on Tuesday, Dhoni said that they have already started the rebuilding process for next season. They have asked the batters to play more freely and express themselves. RR beat CSK by 6 wickets Rajasthan Royals chased down a target of 188 with six wickets in hand. Royals' 14-year-old sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi once again stole the spotlight with a superb 57 off 33 balls. Dhoni himself scored just 16 off 17 balls, unable to provide the big finish. IPL 2025: Vaibhav Suryavanshi shines as RR end disastrous season with dominating win over CSK

14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi starred with a fearless 57 as Rajasthan Royals ended their IPL 2025 campaign with a six-wicket win over CSK. Ayush Mhatre impressed for Chennai with a quickfire 43. read more RR beat CSK by 6 wickets in their final game of season. Image: BCCI New Delhi: Rajasthan Royals closed their woeful IPL 2025 season with a comfortable six-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings after prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi paved the way with a mature 57-run knock in an inconsequential contest here Tuesday. The find of the season for Royals in an otherwise forgettable season, the 14-year old Suryavanshi once again put on display a fearless show during his 33-ball knock as his side overhauled a target of 188 with remarkable ease. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Yashasvi Jaiswal had set the tone for the chase with a fiery 36 and Suryavanshi carried forward the good work with his impressive knock. Jaiswal, before being castled by Anshul Kamboj, was severe on Khaleed Ahmed, creaming off 18 runs from the pacer's second over while providing a rollicking start to his side. More from First Cricket Future of India-Pakistan cricketing relations expected to dominate Jay Shah's first ICC Annual Conference as Chairman Suryavanshi was watchful initially but never allowed the balls in his zone to go unpunished, and even a seasoned campaigner like Ravindra Jadeja could not contain him. He sent the ball soaring into the stands off Jadeja twice and completed his half-century with his fourth six, that came off spinner Noor Ahmad. With skipper Sanju Samon (41) he raised a match-winning 98-run stand for the second wicket. The skipper was happy playing second fiddle to the teenager. It was only the fourth win of the season for the Royals, who may avoid a last-place finish with Tuesday's victory. After Samson's dismissal, Suryavanshi and Riyan Parag (3) also joined their skipper in the dug out, and it looked like Royals may again snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. The equation read 30 off 26 balls, but Dhurv Jurel (31) and Shimron Heymyer (12) carried the side past the finish line. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Earlier, Young Ayush Mhatre once again reminded everyone that he is one for the future with a 20-ball 43 that helped CSK huff and puff to a modest 187 for eight. MS Dhoni's team would have been in bigger trouble had Dewald Brevis (42) and Shivam Dube (39) not prevented the innings from falling apart. Dhoni himself could manage only a sedate 16 off 17, failing to provide a late flourish. There was no end to the woes of the his team's floundering middle order. The promising start was frittered away with Devin Conway (10), Urvil Patel (0) struggling to get going, and they had lost half the team inside eight overs. Pacers Yudhvir Singh (3/47) and Akash Madhwal (3/29) shared six wickets between them. Conway began with a fluent drive off Tushar Deshpande, who was mixing up his length nicely, and beat the bat of the New Zealander a number of times. Conway did not last long, offering a simple catch to Parag at mid-off off Yudhvir. He charged down the wicket but just managed to chip the good length ball. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Yudhvir struck again, sending back the talented Patel, who went for a big shot but failed to connect, and Kwena Maphaka took a sharp catch at the edge of the circle. Mhatre moved the scoreboard by finding two boundaries off Deshpande, who was hitting the deck hard. R Ashwin's surprise promotion to number four left the fans delighted as the spin all-rounder broke the shackles with a tremendous six on the leg side off Yudhvir. Mhatre also found consecutive boundaries as CSK milked 24 runs in that over. The youngster continued to bat in aggressive fashion, finding a hat-trick of boundaries off Deshpande but the pacer had the last laugh. Soon Ashwin departed and Ravindra Jadeja also could not make any impact, flicking off his legs to Dhruv Jurel, to give Yudhvir his third wicket of the match. The run rate was not an issue, as CSK were going at close to 10 an over but half of the batters were back in the dug out well before the half-way mark. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD In came Brevis and the South African churned out yet another impact knock, a 25-ball 42. His entraining knock that had three sixes and two fours was ended by Madhwal. But before that, Brevis and Shivam Dube added 59 runs for the sixth wicket to keep CSK in hunt for a 200-plus total. The spectators were on their feet when 'Thala' Dhoni arrived at the fall of the Protea batter. The CSK skipper punished a full-length ball from Riyan Parag for a six, much to the delight of fans as the chants of 'Dhoni' 'Dhoni' reverberated across the stadium. Runs continued to flow from Dube's bat as the tall left-hander dispatched one from Wanindu Hasaranga into the stands. However, the late push never came.

Future of India-Pakistan cricketing relations expected to dominate Jay Shah's first ICC Annual Conference as Chairman

The global governing body's Annual General Meeting, also known as the ICC Annual Conference, will be taking place from 17 to 20 July in Singapore and will be the first since former BCCI secretary Jay Shah assumed charge as Chairman on 1 December. read more Jay Shah will be attending his first ICC Annual Conference since becoming the youngest ICC Chairman in December. PTI It's been nearly six months since Jay Shah took charge of the International Cricket Council as chairman, succeeding New Zealand's Greg Barclay and becoming the youngest person to occupy the post at the age of 36. Since then, overseeing the return of the Champions Trophy after an eight-year hiatus in the months of February and March has been among the highlights of the former BCCI secretary's tenure. And a couple of months from now, he will be chairing his first Annual General Meeting at the global governing body for cricket, with the ICC Annual Conference set to take place in Singapore from 17 to 20 July, according to Cricbuzz. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Future of India-Pakistan matches the top agenda in upcoming ICC AGM The ICC Annual Conference will be taking place a little over a couple of months after a military showdown between India and Pakistan, which was the result of the deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam and had brought the ongoing seasons of the Indian Premier League and Pakistan Super League to a standstill for a week. The BCCI has been advised to sever all cricketing ties with the Pakistan Cricket Board going forward, meaning India will not be facing arch-rivals Pakistan in ICC and ACC events either across all categories of the sport. More from First Cricket IPL 2025: Mumbai Indians sign replacements for Will Jacks, Ryan Rickelton and Corbin Bosch And though secretary Devajit Saikia denied reports of the Indian board withdrawing from the upcoming Asia Cup and other continental events on Monday, there's a good chance the rumours might come true in the coming months. The future of India-Pakistan cricketing relations thus is expected to be the biggest talking point in the AGM and the ICC will be playing a key role in handling the situation going forward. Also likely to be discussed at the Annual Conference is the future of displayed female cricketers from Afghanistan, with Shah having recently announced the formation of a 'dedicated task force' that aimed to support these cricketers. The Dubai-based governing body for the sport is also expected to form a working group address key issues such as tweaking the two-ball rule in One-Day Internationals and holding the U-19 World Cup in the T20 format.
