Dar was paid double fee during HBL PSL9
The PCB audit report has raised concerns over umpire Aleem Dar receiving double the standard match fee during PSL 9, as he was paid $4,000 per match instead of the set $2,000. According to details in the report, Aleem Dar received an additional payment of approximately 3.85 million PKR under match fee expenditures. The note sheet labeled "PCB-DCOP-24-1848 – Payments for Match Officials, PSL 9, 2024" reveals that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed several umpires and match referees for PSL 9 fixtures. As per PCB regulations, the match fee for an umpire on the ICC International Panel is $2,000 per match. However, Aleem Dar was paid $4,000 per match, which was double the official rate. This increased payment was approved by previous Chairman of the Management Committee. The audit report states that this resulted in an additional financial burden of $14,000 on the PCB, 15 million PKR were allocated from the Chairman's contingency fund. In total, Aleem Dar received $28,000 as match official fees during PSL 9, in line with the ICC Elite Panel rate of $4,000 per match. However, at the time of PSL 9, Aleem Dar was not part of the ICC Elite Panel. He was on the PCB's International Panel, meaning his designated fee should have been $2,000 per match. This led to an excess payment of $14,000 (around 3.85 million PKR) which, according to the audit, was beyond his entitlement. The auditors concluded that this excessive payment not only gave undue benefit to the recipient but also caused financial loss to the PCB and the franchises. In response, the PCB management explained that Aleem Dar, being part of the PCB International Panel, had requested to be paid at the ICC Elite Panel rate, and that this request was approved by the Chairman at the time. The report states that this response indicates the management acknowledged the audit's observation.

Sammy fined for ICC Code of Conduct breach against Australia
Dubai, June 29 (UNI) West Indies head coach Daren Sammy has been fined 15% of his match fee for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second day of the first Test that the visitors clinched by 159 runs, courtesy Josh Hazlewood's stunning 5-43 in Bridgetown. The sanction relates to comments made by Sammy during a media interaction at the end of Day 2, where he criticised one of the match officials in reference to multiple incidents throughout the day's play. The 41-year-old was found to have violated Article 2.7 of the Code, which pertains to 'public criticism of, or inappropriate comment in relation to an incident occurring in an International Match or any Player, Player Support Personnel, Match Official or team participating in any International Match.' As a result, one demerit point has also been added to Sammy's disciplinary record, his first offence in a 24-month period. Sammy admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Javagal Srinath of the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, after the charge was levelled by on-field umpires Richard Kettleborough and Nitin Menon, third umpire Adrian Holdstock, and fourth umpire Gregory Brathwaite. Level 1 offences carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum of a 50% match fee fine, along with one or two demerit points. West Indies were thumped by the visiting Australian side by 159 runs after the home side lost all ten wickets in the final session on Day three, while chasing the 301-run target in a game that was filled with twists and turns. Indian umpire JR Madangopal to make his on-field Test debut in SA-ZIM match
MUMBAI: In a boost for Indian umpiring, JR Madangopal will become only the second Indian umpire other than Nitin Menon to stand in Tests currently when he officiates in the first Test between Zimbabwe and South Africa from June 28-July 2, 2025 at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. While he has been named as the third umpire in a Test before, and officiated in 42 T20Is and 22 ODIs, this is the first time that the 50-year-old former Tamil Nadu batsman will be standing in the middle in the Test match. Nitin Menon, who is in the ICC Elite Panel, is the only Indian umpire presently who officiates in Test matches. Madangopal is in the ICC Emerging Umpires Group. In the women's game, he has officiated in two Tests, 11 ODIs & seven T20Is. Madangopal officiated in the IPL-2025 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings in Ahmedabad. He played 33 first-class matches (1763 runs@35.26) and 37 List A matches (1189 runs@45.73).

West Indies have been penalised for falling an over short against England in the first ODI at Birmingham. The West Indies have been fined for a slow over-rate during the first one-day international against England at Edgbaston, Birmingham, on Thursday. Shai Hope's team was found to be one over short of the required target. Match Referee Jeff Crowe of the ICC Elite Panel imposed a fine of five per cent of their match fee on each West Indies player. The ICC stated that Hope's side was one over short after time allowances were taken into consideration. The sanction is in accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences. The ICC statement added that, as per regulations, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their team fails to bowl in the allotted time.
