Pakistan eager to keep momentum rolling ahead of World Cup ICC Women's Cricket World Cup, 2025
Opener Muneeba Ali was one of Pakistan's star performers during the Qualifier event in April, with the talented left-hander hitting a pair of half-centuries on the way to amassing a total of 223 runs across the tournament at an average of 44.60. That run of with the bat at the Qualifier saw Muneeba rise to a career-high rating on the current ICC Women's ODI Batter Rankings and the 27-year-old is hoping to continue that rich vein of form in Ireland and at the World Cup later this year. 'Despite the difference in formats between the Irish tour and the World Cup, we are looking to focus on T20Is and work on 50-over format game alongside as well," Muneeba said. 'We have identified where we were lacking in the Qualifiers tournament, and have tried to overcome that (during the training camp) and build upon the positives from that tournament.' Pakistan squad to face Ireland: Fatima Sana (c), Aliya Riaz, Diana Baig, Eyman Fatima, Gull Feroza, Muneeba Ali, Najiha Alvi, Nashra Sundhu, Natalia Parvaiz, Rameen Shamim, Sadaf Shamas, Sadia Iqbal, Sidra Amin, Tuba Hassan and Waheeda Akhtar Series schedule: 6 Aug – First T20I at Clontarf Cricket Club, Dublin 8 Aug – Second T20I at Clontarf Cricket Club, Dublin 10 Aug – Third T20I at Clontarf Cricket Club, Dublin

Ireland out to 'improve ranking' against Zimbabwe
Ireland captain Gaby Lewis says improving their world ranking is top of the agenda as her side prepares for a multi-format home series against 14-player squads will play three Twenty20 Internationals at Pembroke Cricket Club in Dublin and that is followed by two one-day internationals at then face Pakistan in another summer series next month before the T20 World Cup qualifying tournament at the end of August."We want to improve our ranking, it's something we have discussed," Lewis said."We want to get to a point where we don't have to qualify for World Cups because you've already got that ranking and you've put those performances in in previous World Cups that allow you to not have to qualify."Qualifying tournaments are always hard, no matter how many teams get through and T20 games can go in ebbs and flows. It's just getting to that point and I do think we have the capability to push on and we have the support around us to allow us to do that."Ireland's hopes of qualifying for this year's ICC Women's World Cup in India were dashed in the qualifying tournament in Pakistan in April. But focus is now firmly on making next year's T20 World Cup, which will be staged in England and Wales, with a qualifying tournament taking place in the Netherlands at the end of August."I think these upcoming games [against Zimbabwe] will be key preparation, especially with the switch in format from April's games to T20. "I'm not looking too far ahead to the World Cup, we still have two qualifiers to get through."You can't just go into a tournament and expect to win, that's just not going to happen. So, we just have to focus on us and keep pushing forward. No matter who we play against, we just want to give it our all and play our best brand of cricket." The upcoming series against Zimbabwe and Pakistan will provide good preparation ahead of the trip to the Netherlands – especially for new Head Coach Lloyd Tennant, who replaced Ed Joyce back in June."It's been good having Lloyd come in. The first few weeks we have been observing and getting used to the new system. It's been hard for him to come in and get an understanding of things, but he's been great, he's worked hard with the bowlers - but it will take time."We had Ed for six years and some of the girls haven't had another coach in the Irish team, so it's been a big change, but it's one that's really exciting and it's a clean slate, a new chapter for us."The squad have a very good record against Zimbabwe, having won all seven encounters between the two sides. But Lewis was keen to stress that standards are improving in women's cricket across the board."There's a few changes to their squad. They don't have their captain Mary-Anne Musonda which is a big loss for them. But they have lots of youngsters coming through and they are an up and coming team."We have a great record against them, but it will be a good test. Obviously we have home conditions and hopefully we can put the performances in."

Shafali returns to top 10 in T20I rankings after stellar comeback in England
Dubai: India opener Shafali Verma has returned to the top 10 batters in the latest ICC Women's T20I Player Rankings released on Tuesday. Wrapping up the five-match T20I series with 176 runs at a strike rate of 158.56, Shafali was the second-highest run-getter behind fellow opener Smriti Mandhana. The 21-year-old was the star with the bat, top-scoring with 75 off 41 in India's last-ball defeat and has jumped four spots to ninth place with 655 points. Mandhana, who is the highest-ranked Indian batter in the shortest format, remains in third place after amassing 221 runs in five innings to finish as the highest run-getter as Harmanpreet Kaur led side won the series 3-2 to create history. Jemimah Rodrigues dropped two places to 14th after accumulating just 108 runs across the series, including a half-century. India captain Harmanpreet, who scored 65 in four games, remained in 15th spot. Another key contributor in India's series win, Arundhati Reddy, who snapped six wickets during the course of the series, also made gains. Arundhati, who scalped two wickets in the final T20I, leaped four spots to 39th place in the bowling rankings and rose 26 spots to 80th among the all-rounders. Multiple England stars also made positive strides. Spinner Charlie Dean broke into the top 10 bowling rankings after a Player of the Match winning 3-23 in the last match, making a leap of eight spots to share sixth place with Nashra Sandhu and Georgia Wareham. Linsey Smith also gained nine places to the 38th place, while pacer Issy Wong jumped seven places to the 50th. Emily Arlott, who made her England debut earlier this summer against the West Indies, improved 15 places to 67th. Sophia Dunkley, who was England's top scorer with 151 runs, gained seven points to 19th place in the Batting Rankings after vital contributions of 22 and 46 in the last two games. Meanwhile, opener Tammy Beaumont continued her recent surge, jumping 19 places to the 45th spot.

Deepti Sharma on cusp of gaining top spot in rankings
The race for the top ranking for T20I bowlers tightens as a host of players from England and India make gains on the latest batter rankings. India spinner Deepti Sharma is on the cusp of becoming the No.1 ranked bowler in T20I cricket after she moved within eight rating points of top spot on the latest ICC Women's T20I Player Rankings. Deepti has sat inside the top 10 rankings for T20I bowlers for the majority of the last six years, but the 27-year-old has never held the top position despite the fact she has maintained great consistency in recent times. The latest update to the T20I rankings has seen Deepti gain one spot and overtake Australia pacer Annabel Sutherland to regain second place on the rankings, with the right-armer now just eight rating points behind Pakistan's Sadia Iqbal at the top of the rankings. Deepti earns her latest rise on the back of a three-wicket haul in the third game of India's five-math T20I series against England and the off-spinner could claim top position from her Pakistan rival with some strong performances over the final two contests in the series. Teammate Arundhati Reddy is also on the rise, with the seamer gaining 11 places to jump to equal 43rd on the list for T20I bowlers following her own three-wicket haul in the most recent match of the series against England at The Oval. There were gains for a host of England bowlers too following their narrow five-run triumph at the iconic London venue, with pacers Issy Wong (up three spots to equal 57th) and Lauren Filer (up 21 rungs to equal 68th) the two biggest risers as fellow quick Lauren Bell maintained fourth spot on the rankings. Australia's Beth Mooney maintains her narrow advantage at the top of the rankings for T20I batters, though there is some change just outside the top 10 following some strong performances from players from England and India in their ongoing series. India dynamo Jemimah Rodrigues gains two places to move to 12th overall after she contributed a half-century in the second match of the series in Bristol, while openers Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Sophia Dunkley are the big winners from an England perspective following their superb partnership at The Oval. The pair put on 137 for the opening wicket in decent time to help setup England's victory, with Wyatt-Hodge improving three spots to 14th on the T20I batter rankings as a result and Dunkley gaining four places to move to 26th on the same list. There is also some gains for England's premier spinner Sophie Ecclestone, who jumps three places to eighth on the list for T20I all-rounders following a career-best contribution of 35 with the bat during the second match of the series in Bristol.
