Meta Outlines Latest Updates to its Marketing and Graph APIs
This story was originally published on Social Media Today. To receive daily news and insights, subscribe to our free daily Social Media Today newsletter. Here's one for the more advanced Facebook marketers, with Meta outlining the latest changes to its Marketing API, as well as updates to its Graph and Ad Copies API to help streamline your ad creation process. Though not all of the latest updates are focused on ads specifically. In the latest Marketing API update, Meta's also added a new content monetization element for creators. As per Meta: 'We're introducing a new insights metric, content_monetization_earnings,for Creators onboarded to Content Monetization. This new metric displays their earnings at a page or post level over a customizable time period. For page-level earnings, an additional breakdown is available for the content types that contributed to the overall earnings.' On a related front, Meta's also adding a 'monetization_approximate_earnings' metric for both page and content earnings. So now, third-party platforms will be able to input content monetization data, which they'll then be able to display in their apps. That'll help in providing more comprehensive insights for Facebook and IG creators. Meta's also updated its Graph API, with daily budget flexibility being expanded from 25% to 75% for Meta Ads Manager accounts. 'This means on days when better opportunities are available for you, we may spend up to 75% over your daily budget on some days and less on others. On a weekly basis, we won't spend more than 7 times your daily budget. If your campaign is less than 7 days, the total spend will not exceed your daily budget, multiplied by the campaign duration.' So again, more opportunities for third-party platforms to tap into Meta's advancing capabilities, this time in regards to automated budget allocation, and ensuring that marketers are able to maximize their campaign budgets. Meta's also added new Advantage+ elements, to ensure that those buying Facebook and IG ads through ad networks can tap into its latest AI-powered ad tools, while it's also adding age and gender parameters that will enable advertisers to reach people outside of their preferred audience settings when it's likely to improve performance. It's also adding a new 'videos' field for catalog ingestion, while it will also now allow changes to ads imported via its 'Ad Copies API.' 'Top-level creative parameters such as title, link_url, url_tags, body, and many others can now be overwritten (edited) for the copied ad, whereas previously, all fields were copied over into the new ad and were unable to be changed.' Yeah, this is all pretty technical stuff, and beyond the scope of day-to-day Facebook and IG marketers. But for those that utilize Met's API, either within their own organization, or via third-party management platforms, these updates could be relevant to your process. You can read all about the latest Meta API updates here. Recommended Reading Meta Looks To Get More Advertisers Utilizing Targeting Automation With API Update Sign in to access your portfolio

How the Beckham family feud really began
A rumoured rift between Victoria Beckham and her eldest son Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz reportedly came to a climax at the couple's wedding in 2022. A source told People that actress Peltz, 30, had felt wronged by her mother-in-law when Posh stole the couple's first dance on their big day. 'Marc Anthony, who is a friend of the Beckhams, offered to perform as a gift at the wedding,' the source explained. 'Before the song began, Marc Anthony asked Brooklyn to come to the stage, and then announced, 'The most beautiful woman in the room tonight, come on Beckham!'' Beckham family unites for Christmas 2024. Credit: Brooklyn Beckham/IG / IG Peltz was reportedly confounded by the act, feeling 'Victoria ruined her wedding, and couldn't understand why'. The Bates Motel star and Brooklyn, 26, married in Florida's Palm Beach at the Peltz ocean-front family estate — owned by the actress' billionaire businessman father Nelson Peltz. While the location might have been picturesque, a second source has revealed the reception was far from tranquil following the supposed act. 'It was such a jaw-dropping moment that it left the whole room in absolute shock — you could hear a pin drop,' they told the publication. Peltz was said to have 'run from the room crying' after seeing Victoria share a slow-dance with her son. 'Nicola felt like Victoria did this on purpose, when she knew it was a pre-planned romantic dance meant for Brooklyn and Nicola. What she couldn't understand was why,' the source added. The young pair have even shared in family gatherings, including Christmas last year, posing amicably for photos and posting them online. Celebrating their third wedding anniversary in April, Brooklyn publicly re-affirmed his love for his wife in a sweet Instagram post. 'Happy 3 year anniversary baby x I love you with all my heart x I'm so lucky I get to spend everyday with you and wake up to your beautiful face everyday you are my world x I love you so much Nicola xxxxxxx ❤️,' he wrote to the platform.

The ‘Soft Power Brigade'
Soft Power. Hard Power. America is master of both. America's soft power flows from Hollywood, Brands, Corporations, Universities, etc. Hard power comes from the Pentagon. Till recently soft power ascendant. However, President Donald Trump disagrees. He 'and his followers' believe only financial and military power matters. Earlier on in history Count Bismarck stated 'the current problems facing Europe cannot be resolved by democracy. Only by blood and iron'. Hence the sobriquet way: The Iron Chancellor. As of now the whole world is obsessed with soft power and branding. We have 8.2 billion people, each an individual brand. We have brand ambassadors, influencers, IG followers, TikTokers, etc. The great success story in our part of the world is the UAE, and especially Dubai. How a desert backwater, within 70 years, rose to be a great financial, tourist and vacation destination. Great strategic thinking has gone into 'Project UAE'. Soft power projection has played a major role. In the 1960s/70s, Sheikh Zayed al-Nahayan and Sheikh Rashid al-Maktoum understood that along with other elements soft power would play a major role. Sheikh Zayed Al-Nahayan, in the early 1960s, would visit Karachi and enjoy a dinner at the Karachi Boat Club with his hosts (a famous business family of Karachi). Today the Al- Nahayan brothers, led by MBZ, have a vast fortune, estimated at USD 1.7 trillion. They are probably the richest family in the world. Their imprimatur appears all over the world – especially in the Middle East, the Levant, Africa and South Asia. Pakistan had a good soft power launch in 1947. The legacy colonial culture was a good help. In the 1950s/60s Pakistan was projecting a good image – safe streets, imported and local entertainments, clubs, night clubs, ladies entering the work force, Karachi as an airline hub. To the west, Iran was projecting money, power and glamour to the world. In Afghanistan, King Zahir Shah was also projecting soft power. Then things went awry. The region was plunged into a cocktail of revolution and counter-revolution. Since 1988 Pakistan has been making erratic attempts to regain 'Soft power'. Back and forth. Tug of war. The soft power industry 'of Pakistan' has been trying to play a national role, but impediments arise with remarkable frequency. Across the eastern border, the Indian soft power industry is super charged. I am not talking about the current venom spewing out of the media and talk shows. The Pakistani models, actors and other showbiz personalities are doing a great job. Despite the harassment they face, they solider on. YouTube is prefaced with headlines like 'Bold', 'Sharamnak', 'Vulgar'. Whenever I scroll down, it's pretty ordinary stuff. Malaika Auora, the Bollywood diva, exhibits more skin in one episode than our starlets do in a whole drama series. The corporate women of Pakistan are writing a glorious new chapter in management. The ladies in parliament and politics are doing well. This is all part of soft power. The recently concluded 10th PSL unleashed tremendous soft power for the world to see. Great sports, great event execution, great branding. Kudos to HBL and all the other advertisers that participated. Pakistan's leadership team, both in uniforms and mufti, must understand that the Pakistan's armed forces can deal with any military threat. As recently demonstrated it is the soft power that is lacking. Perhaps the Field Marshal can commit a brigade to safeguard vulnerable people that are working to develop soft power for Pakistan. Hence, the title of this article. All actions have some unintended consequences. After the recent clash with India, I see a certain power shift in the senior ranks of our military establishment. The second most sought-after job (after the Chief) may well be the Director General of ISPR. This job gives a brand, face and name recognition and identity to the chief of ISPR. This is a very good asset to senior Generals about to retire and looking at post-retirement options. Let us see how the dynamic works out. The godfather of the Soft Power strategy, Joseph Nye, passed away on 7th May 2025. I had attended two lectures delivered by him. R.I.P. Mr. Nye. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025

An Honest Review of Amanyara, the Luxe Hotel in Turks and Caicos
As a vacation enthusiast and travel editor, visiting an Aman property has always been at the top of my bucket list. The hotel group's ultra-luxury resorts have come across my desk—and IG feed—many times over the years, from Amangiri in Utah (a Kardashian-favorite getaway) to Amanpuri in Thailand (I drool every time I see it). So when I was invited to the Turks and Caicos to visit Amanyara, the brand's beachy retreat within Providenciales' North West Point Marine National Park, I nearly passed away. Me? Posting up in the same hotel where Beyoncé celebrated her 43rd birthday? I'd have swum there if I had to. Luckily, I didn't have to—I jetted off to the always-summery island this past December, and quickly realized I was going to be treated like an A+ lister for my entire three-night stay. Amanyara is, without a doubt, the most luxurious hotel I've ever stayed at (and, again, I'm a travel editor, so that's saying a lot), and I'm ready to tell you all about the food, rooms, amenities, and more below. Read on for my full review of Amanyara, and apologies in advance for all the poetic I'm about to wax. BOOK A STAY THE FIRST IMPRESSIONS This was my first time in the Turks and Caicos, but I'd heard so many amazing things about the island nation over the years, from both colleagues and Drake songs, that I found myself dreaming about the white sand beaches for the entire four-ish hour flight from NYC. When we landed, a driver from the resort was there to pick me up, and the good vibes started immediately with cold drinks and Caribbean tunes welcoming me into the van. After less than a 30-minute drive, we arrived at Amanyara, and that's when things really started I quickly learned that I was going to be staying in a villa—but not just, like, a room within a building. I was going to have an entire apartment to myself within Amanyara's Six-Bedroom Beach Sala Villa, aka a 13,640-square-foot retreat on the resort grounds, complete with six standalone apartments (perfect for a group of up to 12, but I was there with four other media members), a central pavilion with a dining room and hangout area, an infinity pool, plenty of lounge spaces, an outdoor dining area, and a private slice of beachfront. Our two villa "hosts"—who acted like private, golf-cart-wielding butlers throughout our stay—greeted me upon arrival and let me know that the private chef (because yes, each group is also assigned a chef, who can make you whatever, whenever) had prepared fresh spring rolls and mocktails to snack and sip on. I cannot get used to this, I remember telling myself in that moment. THE ROOMS "Room" is definitely an understatement here, but inside my apartment was a plush king-sized bed, a desk with ready-to-send postcards, a soaking tub with bath salts, a fridge full of complimentary drinks, so many closets I actually lost count, a bathroom larger than my NYC apartment (including an indoor/outdoor shower that changed my life), and a private outdoor space complete with lounge chairs and a yoga stage. I was in the apartment closest to the pool, so every morning I would hit a button to open the shades, and the floor-to-ceiling windows would reveal the sparkling water just outside. I always headed out to sun by the pool, book in hand, before getting ready each day. I asked one of the hosts for a cappuccino and orange juice the first morning, and every morning after that, I was greeted with a glass of both as soon as I plopped my butt down on a lounger. The juice was so fresh, it tasted like the host had picked an orange off a tree and hand-squeezed it minutes earlier, just FYI. THE AMENITIES In addition to taking service very, very seriously (like actually, I think the staff would have flown to another country to get something I asked for), Amanyara is also huge on prioritizing wellness. With your booking, you get access to four clay tennis and pickleball courts (and a very kind instructor), a volleyball court, a soccer field, a boxing studio, a Pilates studio, and a wellness concierge who you can work with even before your stay. Our group took a private boxing class on our second day, and the instructor, Aga, kicked our butts in the best way possible. If sports are your preferred style of self-care, you'll want to check out Amanyara's Legends Program, in which award-winning professional athletes from across the world come to the hotel to teach clinics in their field. Previous visiting icons have included tennis player Maria Sharapova, basketball player Kevin Love, football player Demarcus Lawrence, and more. On the flip side, if relaxing hard is your idea of wellness (same), you'll want to pop over to the spa, where there are four treatment rooms, a tranquil pool, and an outdoor yoga space. There are a variety of island-inspired spa treatments to choose from (including baths, facials, wraps, and massages), as well as rotating classes and treatments depending on which visiting specialists are in residence when you're in town. Holistic therapist Irene Maranon Villa was visiting during our stay, and she taught us an Ai Chi class—which is basically aquatic Tai Chi— in the spa pool. I had no idea what that was when I saw it on our itinerary, but I wound up loving the slow and thoughtful practice. THE FOOD AND BEV Food is also a form of wellness, and, naturally, Amanyara excelled in this area as well. Of course, we had our private chef on call to make us anything our hearts desired (and he did whip up breakfast every morning), but we also had access to The Restaurant, an Asian-inspired fine dining spot, The Beach Club, which offered Mediterranean and American fare down by the ocean, and The Bar, where you can grab light bites along with some seriously delicious drinks. We tested out all three, and I highly recommend getting the chicken fried rice and dumplings from The Restaurant, and the gazpacho, mortadella pizza, and tzatziki from The Beach Club. I think my favorite meal, however, was the one the hosts set up for us on our last night, in which they arranged a candlelit table by the pool in our villa. The chef whipped up a multi-course, family-style meal comprised of their best Thai dishes. It was such a nice way to close out an incredible trip, and a great way to make use of the privacy afforded by the villa. THE BOTTOM LINE A stay at Amanyara doesn't come cheap—I kept texting my fiancé how sad I was that he wasn't there with me, because it's definitely out of our regular vacation price range—but oh my god, if you can afford I've been wined and dined at dozens of hotels across the world, but there's something about Amanyara that's just special. The service is top-notch without being stuffy, the food is out of this world without feeling over the top, the design is peak luxury while still being minimalistic, and I felt like the best version of myself throughout my stay. I've finally checked an Aman stay off my bucket list, but now I a bigger bucket list. Because now I've decided I have to see every other Aman there is out there in the world. Wish me luck!
