'Demon Slayer Infinity Castle' sets new box office record in Japan with highest opening weekend
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has achieved a record-breaking debut at the Japanese box office, setting the highest opening weekend earnings in the country's history. According to Crunchyroll, the film earned ¥7.31 billion (approximately USD 49.55 million) within four days of release, with over 5.16 million tickets sold. Its three-day opening total reached ¥5.52 billion (USD 37.42 million). The film, which begins the climactic arc of the Demon Slayer series, follows the Hashira Training arc and is the first in a trilogy set to conclude the main story. Infinity Castle has received a 9.3/10 rating on IMDb, with fans praising its animation quality, emotional depth, and large-scale production. Demon Slayer: Mugen Train remains the highest-grossing anime film in Japan, with a total of ¥40.4 billion (around USD 507 million) worldwide. Infinity Castle will continue its rollout internationally, premiering in Southeast Asia on August 12, followed by Latin America, Australia, and the Middle East on September 11, and in the US, UK, Canada, and India on September 12. European markets will follow, with France on September 17 and Germany on September 18.

James Gunn Says IMDb Led Him to David Corenswet's 'Superman' Casting
There are several ways for actors and actresses to land parts in movies, and depending on the role, the task is surely easier for some than others. When it comes to the latest box office juggernaut, Superman, the director and co-CEO of DC Studios, James Gunn, took a unique approach to the lead role. While Gunn admitted that he has written movie roles for specific people, the new face of Superman, David Corenswet, was discovered thanks to a bit of good timing and a quick internet search. During an interview with IMDb, Gunn explained that he was actually watching a movie, which led him to discover Corenswet. "Superman, no clue who Superman was going to be. Didn't write with any actor in mind," Gunn admitted. "I think I found David Corenswet on IMDb. Because I saw my friend Ti West's movie Pearl, and I'm like, well who's that guy?" Gunn said. "...I looked up on IMDb and it was David. I sent a note to John Papsidera, casting director, saying bring David Corenswet in for Superman." It's a great backstory from Gunn, and considering the rave reviews Corenswet has received as Superman, it's safe to say that the director has to be thrilled he checked out Pearl when he did. Gunn explained that he uses IMDb often when watching movies. He also stated that he wrote the part of Pa Kent in Superman specifically for Pruitt Taylor Vince, because he liked him and wanted somebody who seemed like they could be a "real Kansas farmer."James Gunn Says IMDb Led Him to David Corenswet's 'Superman' Casting first appeared on Men's Journal on Jul 17, 2025 Solve the daily Crossword

Sylvester Stallone sold his dog to keep him alive before Rocky fame but his turtles are still by his side
Sylvester Stallone's 'Rocky' Turtles Still Going Strong And So Is the Legacy of His Famous Dog, Butkus While Rocky made Sylvester Stallone a household name in 1976, the film also introduced two unlikely co-stars that remained with him far beyond the screen—his turtles, Cuff and Link, and his bullmastiff, Butkus. Unlike many movie props or animal performers, these companions became a lasting part of Stallone's personal life. Cuff and Link are still alive in their fourties, and Butkus, who passed away in 1981, left behind a legacy strong enough to earn an IMDb listing of his own. In a nostalgic Instagram post shared in May 2018, Stallone posted a photo alongside the turtles and wrote about their enduring presence in his life. The actor, now in his 70s, shared that Cuff and Link were not just props in Rocky, but have been part of his family since the film wrapped. He also highlighted their return to the big screen in Creed II (2018), referring to them fondly as his 'original buddies.' In Rocky, Cuff and Link were introduced during a quiet scene in which Rocky shows them to his love interest Adrian (played by Talia Shire), calling them 'the exotic animals I was telling you about.' What audiences may not have realized then was that Stallone kept the turtles after filming ended and continued to care for them reptiles, red-eared sliders by species, are known for their longevity, often living several decades with proper care. Their appearance in Creed II was more than just a nostalgic nod; it underscored the bond Stallone has maintained with them over the years. As People reported, the turtles are currently living a peaceful life under Stallone's Stallone's bullmastiff, also had a heartfelt role in the Rocky series, appearing in both the first and second films. But his off-screen story is just as compelling. Before Rocky became a hit, Stallone faced financial hardship and had to sell Butkus outside a 7-Eleven store because he could not afford to feed him. Once his screenplay sold, he tracked the dog down and bought him back—for $15,000, a steep price he was willing to pay without who was born in 1972 in New York City and died in 1981 in Los Angeles due to a heart attack, is remembered fondly by fans and even has an IMDb page under the name 'Butkus Stallone.' He's credited with roles in Rocky (1976) and Rocky II (1979), making him one of the few dogs with documented acting credits in a major film continued presence of Cuff and Link is more than a quirky trivia fact; it reflects the deep emotional ties Stallone has to the character of Rocky and the film that launched his career. Over the years, fans have speculated whether the turtles seen in Creed II were truly the originals. Stallone, however, has consistently affirmed their authenticity, emphasizing their significance in his life.
