Report: With viral video behind them, Patriots intend to pay Stefon Diggs ‘a lot of money'
If there was any doubt about Stefon Diggs' status with the New England Patriots it went away when the wide receiver was in attendance for Monday's voluntary practice. A video surfaced on social media that showed Diggs on a boat and had a bag with an unknown pink substance in it that he was handing out to women that fans on social media wondering whether Diggs' time in New England would end before it even started. Advertisement But not do the Patriots have zero plans to release Diggs, they want to make sure he gets paid. 'They intend to pay him a lot of money,' NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said Monday on 'The Insiders.' 'They haven't yet, but they intend to pay him a lot of money especially after he passed the physical from his ACL recovery. He does seem to be on track. This is a player they want to keep, want to be making plays for them. That's why they signed him in free agency.' Diggs tore his ACL in Week 8 last season. His status for Week 1 was unknown, but Rapoport's report suggests optimism — especially given the fact he passed his physical. And while he was limited during Monday's practice, MassLive's Mark Daniels reported Diggs 'looked good for a player who suffered a torn ACL last fall,' and also 'had a notable burst of speed during position drills.' Advertisement The Patriots, in need of a wide receiver, signed Diggs to a three-year, $69 million deal in March. The hope is that he'll not only give Drake Maye a legitimate WR1 in an important Year 2 at quarterback, but that he'll also provide the Patriots with offense they've been missing the last few seasons. Patriots' decision on Stefon Diggs revealed after viral video of NFL star handling bag of unknown substance
The New England Patriots reportedly have no plans to cut Stefon Diggs in the wake of a viral video which showed the wide receiver handling a bag containing an unknown substance while on a yacht surrounded by scantily-clad women. Diggs was seen shirtless on the boat, chatting with three women who were all dressed in bikinis and called him 'daddy.' That is despite his girlfriend, rap star Cardi B, also partying aboard the boat. After the video flooded social media, reports emerged that the Patriots could release the receiver just a couple of months after signing him on a three-year, $69million contract. But on Monday, Diggs returned to practice with New England and NFL Network reports that the Patriots are determined to keep the receiver. Though OTAs are optional, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network claimed: 'Stefon Diggs showing up today felt about as mandatory as it could be.' Diggs signed with the Patriots after a year with the Texans. He suffered a season-ending ACL injury back in October but was back on the field on Monday. Stefon Diggs is here. — Christopher Price (@cpriceglobe) June 2, 2025 'He's a very good player, they intend to pay him a lot of money - they haven't yet - especially after he passed the physical from his ACL recovery,' Rapoport continued. 'This is a player they want to keep, want to be making plays for them - that's why they signed him in free agency to such fanfare. 'He just has to be better and this was a step in the right direction for Diggs and certainly something the Patriots welcomed.' Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel addressed the video last week but refused to reveal whether Diggs - a four-time Pro Bowler - would be sanctioned. 'It's something we're aware of and obviously we want to make great decisions on and off the field,' Vrabel said. 'Any conversations that I've had with Stefon will remain between him and I and the club.' After the video went viral, an insider told the Daily Mail that Cardi B 'doesn't want her man flirting with any ladies... she is mad at him.' But Diggs appeared in good spirits when he attended Patriots OTAs on Monday, telling reporters as he took to the field: 'Nice to see y'all' Ahead of his return, Diggs posted a cryptic message on social media, sharing a series of snaps from recent weeks alongside the caption: 'To the month of May, I appreciate you none the less… gotta stay focused.' Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, meanwhile, did not seem overly concerned with Diggs' recent absence. 'It's a voluntary part of the year, we know that,' he told reporters. 'I don't know if we've ever had perfect attendance.' He continued: 'As a coach, selfishly, you'd love it when they're all here, because you feel like you've got them all in the classroom and all on the field and the rest of it. 'He's here today, and we're excited to have an opportunity to work with the guys that are out here and available to us.'

Steelers' Pro Bowler trade buzz shot down by insider Ian Rapoport
Steelers' Pro Bowler trade buzz shot down by insider Ian Rapoport Steelers trade buzz burns bright — but flames out just as fast. Insider Adam Schefter broke the news that the Dolphins and Steelers engaged in trade talks regarding Miami's Pro Bowl TE Jonnu Smith — and while it was surprising, insider Ian Rapoport believes it's unlikely anything more will come of it. In a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Rapoport was asked how real the trade news really was — and here's what he had to say: 'I think Jonnu Smith wants to make money,' Rapoport said. 'He is actually a part of what the Dolphins want to do. It feels to me that he wants more money and would like to stay [with the Dolphins]. I know he wants a lot — we'll see what [the Dolphins] end up doing.' Hopefully nothing more comes out of the trade speculation, as Steelers TEs Pat Freiermuth and Darnell Washington are underrated pieces of Pittsburgh's offense — and paying the soon-to-be 30-year-old Smith a massive extension makes zero sense for the Steel City brand of football. Patriots AFC East rival to be featured on 'Hard Knocks'
Patriots AFC East rival to be featured on 'Hard Knocks' The New England Patriots' AFC East rival Buffalo Bills will participate in the upcoming training camp edition of "Hard Knocks", according to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, via NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. This marks the first time that the Bills will be featured on the series, which combines the world of NFL football and reality television. There should be plenty of storylines for the Bills as they attempt to bounce back from the devastating AFC Championship loss they suffered at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs last season. They are led by quarterback Josh Allen, who won his first ever NFL MVP after helping his team go 13-4 last season. Former Patriots coach Bill Belichick wasn't a fan of the potential distractions that could come from "Hard Knocks". It's fair to wonder if newly-hired head coach Mike Vrabel would consider participating in the show down the road, especially if it's only a training camp series. It could make for some intriguing television for more than just Patriots fans. Follow Patriots Wire on Twitter and Facebook.
