Nottingham Forest in talks with Rennes over Arnaud Kalimuendo deal
Nottingham Forest are in talks over a deal for Rennes forward Arnaud Kalimuendo. No formal offer has been submitted, but negotiations are progressing over a potential package that would include a fee of around £26million for the 23-year-old. Kalimuendo scored 17 goals in Ligue 1 last season and has netted 34 times in 93 league appearances in three years with the French club. Advertisement Forest are keen to add to their attacking options as they prepare to return to European football for the first time in 30 years. Chris Wood scored 20 times last season and is still regarded as an integral figure in the side, while Forest have already added Brazilian Igor Jesus to their attack — which also includes Nigeria international Taiwo Awoniyi — this summer. Forest are also close to completing the signing of James McAtee, the versatile Manchester City midfielder, although a final package is yet to be agreed with the Premier League club for the England under-21 international. There is hope that McAtee could be signed before Forest kick off their campaign with the visit of Brentford to the City Ground on Sunday. Nuno Espirito Santo is keen for Forest to add strength in depth to their ranks, as they look to build on last season's seventh-placed finish in the top flight and prepare to play in the Europa League. Defender Jair Cunha has also joined from Botafogo, while goalkeeper Angus Gunn signed as a free agent as back-up for Golden Glove winner Matz Sels. Forest also broke their club record outlay to sign Swiss winger Dan Ndoye from Bologna, in a deal worth around £35m. Fulham winger Adama Traore and USMNT midfielder Yunus Musah are also players Forest hold an interest in, with talks having been held with Milan over a potential deal for Musah. Spot the pattern. 'We're looking forward to welcoming the world back to North America, as Canada, Mexico and the United States host what will be the biggest and greatest sporting event ever," FIFA president Gianni Infantino said in a statement. 'We encourage fans everywhere to get ready to secure their place — these will be the most coveted seats in world sport.' ___ AP soccer:

Nottingham Forest sign defender Jair Cunha from Botafogo
Nottingham Forest have made their second summer signing from Botafogo, in the form of defender Jair Cunha. The 20-year-old has signed a five-year contract at the City Ground, where he will be reunited with former teammate Igor Jesus. Both men played for the Brazilian side in the FIFA Club World Cup in recent weeks, where Botafogo reached the last 16 of the competition. Cunha scored in Botafogo's opening game, against Seattle Sounders. The Athletic reported in June that Forest had reached a verbal agreement with Botafogo to sign Cunha and Jesus, as well as left-back Cuiabano. Cunha, who stands at 6ft 6in, was a product of the Santos academy, having joined them at the age of 10. He only signed for Botafogo in February, but has established a reputation as one of the brightest prospects in his homeland. Welcome to Nottingham Forest, Jair Cunha! ✍️ — Nottingham Forest (@NFFC) July 11, 2025 Ross Wilson, the club's chief football officer, said: 'Jair is a young talent who has shown quality during his time in Brazil. Forest will hope Cunha makes a similar impact to Murillo, who has established himself as one of the best young defenders in the top flight, following his £11million move from Corinthians in August 2023. 'Could be a 20-goal striker' - fans celebrate Jesus arrival
We asked for your thoughts on the signing of Igor Jesus from is fair to say Forest fans are He looks exciting, a real prospect. If he can hit the ground running, he could be a serious player for us at an absolute bargain Very promising signing. He hopefully helps share the attacking and goalscoring responsibilities with Woody and Taiwo Awoniyi if they both stay. It's a good sign of progress signing a player of this calibre, and if we continue as we have done in keeping the main squad together while making measured, well thought out signings then this is going to be another good season. Welcome Igor Jesus!Jamie: Very excited; Jesus gives us a player who can both change our system and builds on the current plan A. His hold-up play is excellent too. Cant wait to see him Hopefully a great signing for Forest as we need a striker. Our South American scouting has been pretty good so hopefully this can be a great Forest have an absolute bargain here. Young, strong and talented, and the perfect role model in Chris Wood to acclimatise to the Premier League. What a pair of weapons they will Time will tell, but looks like a good signing. Gets the right service, he could be a 20-goal-a-season Great signing, with Jesus on our side how can we fail? Just like Cloughie, he will walk along the River Trent.
