Watch: PinkPantheress performs medley of new songs on 'Tonight Show'

July 31 (UPI) -- Pink Pantheress made her late-night TV debut on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Wednesday. The singer, 24, performed a medley of her songs "Illegal," "Girl Like me" and "Tonight." Pink Pantheress appeared on the show in a red tank top and short pleated skirt. The stage had been set up with partitions to make it look as though the music artist and her dancers were performing in separate rooms. Each of the songs she performed appear on her mixtape, Fancy That, which dropped in May. "This is my third project and my lord it's my favorite," she wrote on Instagram at the time. "A complete archive of how I've been experimenting and feeling free to use some of my favorite British influences in my current music. I want this project to be diverse somewhat, but still at its core a summer bop for a lot of people!" "Illegal" has inspired a TikTok trend where people shake hands with their partners or friends. Pink Pantheress is currently on tour, which concludes Aug. 10 in Portland, Ore.

Sabah on track to be deep-sea fisheries hub

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah is on the right track to becoming the region's premier Deep-Sea Fisheries Hub, thanks to its strategic advantages, including its location along the international tuna migration route, according to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor. He said that the state also benefits from naturally sheltered ports and its proximity to major seafood-producing nations such as Indonesia, the Philippines, and Papua New Guinea. 'We have all the prerequisites - strategic location, abundant marine resources, infrastructure, and policy support - to position Sabah as an international-standard centre for deep-sea fish landing, processing, and export.' Hajiji said in a statement after witnessing the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) and Petco Trading Labuan Company Ltd, as well as a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between DBKK and Alpha Ocean Resources Berhad (AORB). Under the MoA, AORB will invest RM360 million to develop a European Union (EU)-standard port dedicated to tuna and deep-sea fish landings in Kota Kinabalu. Hajiji said the project, expected to be completed within 18 months, will create over 1,000 jobs across the fisheries value chain. 'The port will adhere to stringent EU standards, including Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), traceability systems, monitoring of Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing, and comprehensive food safety protocols. 'With such infrastructure in place, we can finally penetrate premium export markets that were previously inaccessible due to a lack of proper facilities,' he said. Hajiji said Malaysia's participation in the Western & Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC) would further enhance the port's role as an authorised landing site for registered fishing vessels from around the world. 'With an estimated 1,000 vessels docking annually, each carrying an average of 50 tonnes of catch, Sabah has the potential to land up to 50,000 tonnes of tuna a year, generating an estimated RM1.8 billion in economic value,' he said. The Chief Minister said the economic benefits would extend far beyond the fish landings to include support industries such as ice supply, bunkering services, and technical maintenance. At the same ceremony, DBKK also signed an MoU with Petco Trading Labuan Company Ltd to develop a biogas energy complex at the Kayu Madang landfill site. Hajiji said the project will convert methane gas from solid waste into 2 Megawatts of green electricity. 'This renewable energy will directly benefit the manufacturing sector in the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP). It's a prime example of a circular economy where waste from one sector becomes energy for another,' he explained. Both initiatives, he said, also align with Sabah's Blue Economy agenda, which prioritises sustainable development, value-added fisheries industries, and a transition to clean energy. 'These investments reflect strong investor confidence in Sabah's economic prospects. I believe the synergy between DBKK, the private sector, and the state government will accelerate economic growth and generate more job opportunities for our people,' he added. - Bernama

Sabah poised to become region's deep-sea fishing hub

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah is on track to becoming the region's premier deep-sea fishing hub, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor. He said the state's location along international tuna migration routes, coupled with sheltered natural harbours and proximity to major producers like Indonesia, the Philippines, and Papua New Guinea, provides all the necessary prerequisites. "We have all the prerequisites, from location, resources, infrastructure, and policy support, to drive Sabah as a landing, processing, and exporting centre for deep-sea seafood at international standards," he said. Hajiji was speaking after witnessing the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) and Alpha Ocean Resources Berhad (AORB), as well as DBKK and Petco Trading Labuan Company Ltd. AORB will invest RM360 million to develop a European Union (EU)-compliant port in Kota Kinabalu specifically for tuna and deep-sea fish landings. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months and create more than 1,000 jobs across the industry value chain. "This port will comply with stringent EU standards, including Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), traceability systems, monitoring of Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing, and comprehensive food safety protocols. "With such facilities, we will be able to penetrate premium export markets that were previously out of reach due to the lack of proper infrastructure," Hajiji said. Malaysia's membership in the Western & Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC) will also enable the new port to serve as a legitimate landing centre for registered fishing vessels from around the world. "With projections of 1,000 vessels annually, each averaging 50 tonnes of catch, Sabah has the potential to land 50,000 tonnes of tuna per year and generate up to RM1.8 billion in economic value," he added. He said the economic benefits would extend beyond the catches, spurring related support sectors such as ice supply, bunkering services, food and beverage, and technical services. Hajiji also assured that the development of this industry would not overlook the welfare of local fishing communities. "We will continue to prioritise sustainable environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices in protecting the environment, upholding social responsibility, and ensuring good governance. This is to safeguard marine ecosystems and the people's economic well-being," he said. During the same ceremony, DBKK also signed an MoU with Petco Trading Labuan Company Ltd to develop a biogas energy complex at the Kayu Madang landfill. The project aims to convert methane from solid waste into 2 megawatts of clean electricity. "This energy will directly benefit the manufacturing sector in the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP). It's a prime example of a circular economy approach, where the waste from one sector becomes a power source for another," he said. Present were Sabah Assistant Minister to Chief Minister Datuk Abidin Madingkir and city mayor Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah.

Doireann Garrihy is every first time mum as she shares hilarious vid with sister Ailbhe

Doireann Garrihy has shared a hilarious video of herself and her sister Ailbhe as the siblings are expecting together. Doireann is expecting her first child with her husband Mark Mehigan, and has been documenting her journey to future motherhood. Of course, it's even better when someone close to you is also expecting, with Doireann's sister Ailbhe expecting her third child with her husband Ruaidhri. However, for Ailbhe, it may not be quite as fun as she and Doireann joked that the younger Garrihy has been bombarding her with questions. Sharing a video from the waiting room ahead of a doctor's appointment and set to the PinkPantheress song Illegal, Doireann jokingly said that her sister is 'trying to be pregnant on your 3rd baby in peace,' while Doireann is the pregnant sister who 'WhatsApps 14 times a day.' An exasperated Ailbhe is then branded as 'hoping sister leaves her alone' while a grinning Doireann has 'no intention of leaving her alone.' 'When you're the only ones in the waiting room at 7.45am, you try a trend,' Doireann captioned the video, with comments loving that the sisters were expecting around the same time. Doireann and Ailbhe are expecting together — Doireann with her first child, Ailbhe with her third — with Doireann joking that she's wrecking Ailbhe's head with questions. Pic: Brian McEvoy 'Ailbhe's pregnant too? Great planning,' one commented, while another added 'myself and my 2 sisters were pregnant 11 years ago together, my mother said she nearly needed to have us visit by appointment!' 'How did ye do this without laughing,' another commented, while Ailbhe herself added 'lads allergic to us.' Doireann and her husband Mark Mehigan are expecting their first child together. Pic: Instagram/Mark Mehigan Doireann has been open about her journey to future motherhood, and spoke about having to try and keep it under wraps before announcing the good news to the world; although, some people put two and two together when seeing her in the doctor's office. 'I would actually love to make a suggestion… there should be signs in waiting rooms in maternity hospitals,' Doireann told Ailbhe on a recent episode of her Doireann and Friends podcast. 'I don't know how it would be worded, but I do think there should be some sort of a 'this is a confidential place… 'Something like 'if you see something, act like you don't see them,' Doireann added, with Ailbhe in agreement. Doireann went on to say that someone spotted her at a maternity hospital prior to her and Mark going public with the news, saying 'when I hadn't announced [the pregnancy], I hadn't said it to anyone, there was one person who kept writing to me on Instagram saying 'I think you have news for your followers, wink wink.'' 'So when you get that message, of course, my brain went into overdrive. I was like 'okay, I've been seen in the hospital, I look pregnant, who have I said it to that maybe has said it to someone, somewhere?' 'Surely women need to understand to just say nothing… there are many reasons why someone might find themselves in a maternity hospital. It doesn't automatically mean they're expecting. And I've tried to become so aware of that whenever I go for a scan — there's every chance you'll see someone you know. For the most part, act like you don't see them. And if you do see them, don't ask why they're there.' Despite being spotted at the maternity hospital, Doireann kept the pregnancy under wraps before she and Mark announced their good news back in April, saying that the couple are set to experience their greatest chapter yet.
