Illia Zabarnyi informs Bournemouth of desire to join PSG
Paris Saint-Germain are keen to get a deal to sign Bournemouth's Illia Zabarnyi (22) over the line. As per a report from L'Équipe, the defender has now informed his current club of his desire to sign for the European champions. The centre-back position is the area that PSG are most pressed to address. Marquinhos may leave the club this summer, but even if he does not, the captain is expected to play a reduced role next season. There is therefore an element of succession planning. Advertisement Zabarnyi has been identified as the priority target. Bournemouth are demanding €70m for the Ukrainian, a fee not yet offered by Les Parisiens. Negotiations are ongoing between the clubs. The player in question is keen on the move, to the extent that he has informed the hierarchy at Bournemouth of his desire to make the move to the Parc des Princes. In order to have Zabarnyi available for the FIFA Club World Cup, PSG will have to move quickly. The deadline for the Club World Cup transfer window is on Tuesday. GFFN | Luke Entwistle

'Run-in could be Scott's moment to thrive'
Bournemouth have a whole host of young stars shining bright on the highest stage this Illia Zabarnyi plays well above his years, Milos Kerkez is one of the most exciting left-backs in the league and Dean Huijsen's reported £50m release clause feels remarkably cheap! But now, maybe it is time for another of the Cherries' "wonderkids" to go and grab the Alex Scott, Bournemouth signed one of the Championship's most elite already established himself with England's under-21s, Scott was very highly thought of when he made the move to the south coast from Bristol for him, a number of injury issues have hampered his progress with the Cherries, but given that he is fully fit for the run-in, it could well be his moment to a central midfielder who is equally happy to drop off and play from a deeper position, Scott's skillset is high, as he is adept at driving at his opponents from a more offensive role. But in an impressive campaign for Andoni Iraola's side, Scott has found himself on the fringes of the squad Cook and Tyler Adams have been consistently superb and Ryan Christie has been instrumental all season long. However, with Christie out with a groin issue, this could well end his season prematurely, so this certainly feels like it could be Alex's moment to show the Premier League just how good he is no doubting Scott's quality, he has shown what a joy to watch he can be, but keeping fit and nailing a role in Iraola's system is now big games for Bournemouth, seven big games for Alex more from Tom Jordan at Back of the Net, external

Loss of 'key cog' Zabarnyi will force Iraola to juggle again
Bournemouth's defeat by Wolves on Saturday was their first against a side outside the top four since November when, ironically, the opponents were Brighton, a team who they face next in Premier Cherries' life was made all the more difficult when Illia Zabarnyi was sent off in the first half, a dismissal that seemed to help the away side's gameplan. With James Hill having to drop into centre-back and Lewis Cook retreating in a right-back role, it felt like a familiar tale of adapting from a side that allowed us to play our A the rejigging, with Matheus Cunha notching for Vitor Pereira's men five minutes later, there was always the feeling that it would be an uphill struggle for Andoni Iraola's side, not least because of Wolves' canny way of breaking up play and stopping teams from playing the football they want feels quite a significant moment in the season to lose such a key cog in Bournemouth's defence. Assuming it is not overturned on appeal, there will be some juggling to do once good news is that Andoni has a habit of forging out results when least expected, and while Brighton are going to be a significant test, fans are expecting a reaction after a sub-par performance against Evanilson being a surprise inclusion on the bench at the weekend, the hope is that his return can spark the potency up top that was missing, and then maybe we can give Brighton as much concern as they will inevitably give more from Sam Davis at Back of the Net, external

Cherries appeal over Zabarnyi red card rejected
THE Cherries' appeal over Illia Zabarnyi's red card against Wolves has been rejected by the FA. The Ukrainian was shown a red card after 31 minutes at the Vitality Stadium for a challenge on Rayan Ait-Nouri. Initially, he was shown a booking by referee Michael Salisbury, but he was sent to the pitch side monitor and upgraded his decision to a red. Iraola felt VAR had 'taken the decision' for the referee for Zabarnyi red card AFC Bournemouth had appealed the decision, Andoni Iraola confirmed in his pre-Brighton press conference yesterday, but that appeal has been rejected. This means Zabarnyi will now be suspended for three games and will miss the trip to Brighton tonight, the home FA Cup tie against Wolves and the away game in the Premier League at Spurs.

Bournemouth 0-1 Wolves: Cherries top-four hopes suffer setback
This represented a missed opportunity for Bournemouth to boost their Champions League prospects against opponents who had collected just one win in their previous six league while the Cherries were understandably hindered by the dismissal of Illia Zabarnyi in the 31st minute there was still a sense of being underwhelmed by a performance that delivered just a single second-half shot against a Wolves side battling for their Premier League were moments, particularly late on, where with greater composure in the final third they may have been able to test visiting goalkeeper Jose could be no doubting their effort or Iraola's side restricted Wolves to very few genuine chances but simply found their attempts to press high up the pitch severely restricted. They will now have to recover quickly for their trip along the south coast to face a rejuvenated Brighton team on Tuesday.
