No roti and rice: Inside Sarfaraz Khan's incredible body transformation

Sarfaraz Khan's father Naushad Khan revealed how the Mumbai batter was able to undergo a drastic body transformation over the past few months. Sarfaraz surprised the cricket world on Monday, July 21, when he showed off a leaner physique. The 27-year-old received praise from Kevin Pietersen for focusing on his physique and the former England skipper said that it could bring him more success on the field. advertisementBefore the start of India A's tour of England for the matches against the England Lions, Sarfaraz had reportedly dropped 10 kilos and it is now being reported that the Mumbai batter has been able to lose close to 17. Speaking to Hindustan Times, Sarfaraz's father said that they have stopped eating roti and rice for the past one to one and a half months at their home, focusing more on vegetables and proteins. He went on to say that cutting out sugar from the diet has helped Sarfaraz shed weight. "We have controlled our diet a lot. We have stopped eating roti, rice, etc. We haven't eaten roti or rice at home for 1 to 1.5 months. We eat broccoli, carrot, cucumber, salad, and green vegetable salad. Along with that, we eat grilled fish, grilled chicken, boiled chicken, boiled egg, etc. We are also having green tea and green coffee," said Naushad to Hindustan Times. "We eat avocados also. There are sprouts also. But the main thing is that we have stopped eating roti and rice. We have stopped eating sugar. We have stopped eating maida (flour) and bakery items."Naushad said that he is also participating in the diet plan with his son as he is planning on getting a surgery on his knee. He went on to say that Sarfaraz plans to lose more weight in the coming months. "He has almost lost 10 kgs within 1.5 months. He is working on reducing his weight even further. I have reduced 12 kgs myself because I had a knee issue. So, I also benefited from it. The doctor told me that I have to do a knee replacement. So, I told him that I had to delay it. He told me that I have to reduce my weight for that," said Naushad. Sarfaraz's India career so farAfter being a run-machine on the domestic circuit for Mumbai, Sarfaraz finally got his chance to play for the Indian team during the series at home against England in 2024. The 27-year-old impressed everyone with his batting but has found it tough to seal a spot in the side. advertisementWhile he was part of the touring squad to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Sarfaraz didn't get to play a single game and was subsequently not considered to be a part of the team for the ongoing series against England. However, he did impress during the India A vs England Lions games and the intra-squad match, where he scored a hundred. - Ends

England vs India 4th Test Playing 11, live toss time, ENG vs IND streaming

As India prepares to step onto the turf at Old Trafford on Wednesday for the fourth Test, the stakes couldn't be higher—and the challenges couldn't be clearer. Plagued by injuries and with a history of winless outings at the storied venue, the visitors may be forced to deviate from their preferred playing XI template to stay alive in the series. On the other hand, hosts England announced their Playing 11 on Monday. So far, the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy has lived up to its billing, with England leading 2-1 and India chasing parity. But heading into the penultimate clash of the five-match series, the Gill-led squad is navigating a maze of uncertainties—primarily caused by the loss of Nitish Kumar Reddy, one of the three all-rounders India had banked on for balance. Reddy's series-ending knee injury has disrupted the structure India had settled into post the opening Test in Leeds. Alongside Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar, Reddy offered India batting depth till No. 8—an asset that could now be missing in Manchester. With no wins in nine previous Tests at Old Trafford—including four defeats and five draws—India must rethink its formula to break the jinx. Shardul Thakur, who featured in the Leeds Test, emerges as a likely replacement. However, while Thakur is capable of making useful contributions, he doesn't quite offer the same all-round value as Reddy. If picked, India will be hoping for a more impactful bowling display from him, especially since Reddy had delivered crucial breakthroughs at Lord's. A return to Leeds-style structure? One of the options for India's team management is to revert to the combination used at Headingley—a line-up with just one spinner, Jadeja, and a top six packed with specialist batters, including Karun Nair and Sai Sudharsan. This structure provided batting depth but relied heavily on the frontline pacers to share the load. That decision may once again hinge on the fitness of Akash Deep, who is still recovering from a groin strain. If he's unable to take the field, Anshul Kamboj or Prasidh Krishna could be called upon. Kamboj's sharp form puts him in frame Kamboj, who impressed during the India A shadow tour of England, looked sharp during India's first outdoor training session in Manchester. Known for his ability to extract seam movement—much like Akash Deep—Kamboj may be a tempting option for the conditions. Meanwhile, India will lean heavily on its two pace mainstays—Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj—both of whom are certain to start. Gill's batting and India's response India's only batting collapse of the series came at Lord's, and the team will be eager to put that behind them. Shubman Gill, despite a modest outing in the third Test, remains India's leading run-getter in the series with over 600 runs. His ability to bounce back with a big score could be critical if India hopes to push the series into a decider. India XI vs England For 4th Test: No Kuldeep Yadav, Karun Nair And Dhruv Jurel In Squad By Ex-India Star

The series on line, Indian cricket team faces its trickiest challenge so far in deciding the playing XI for the fourth Test against England. If trailing 1-2 in the five-match series was not enough, Indian cricket team has been hit hard by injuries to Nitish Kumar Reddy, Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep. The first two will not play the fourth test, it has been confirmed. There are doubts over Akash Deep's availability too. In the midst of this, former Indian cricket team opener Aakash Chopra has said that Karun Nair should continue to get a chance, even though he is yet to fire. "There won't be any question about the two openers. The third Test match was quite middling for Yashasvi Jaiswal, but that will happen. You can't score runs in every match. KL Rahul scored centuries in the first and third matches. So there shouldn't be any changes there," he said on his YouTube channel. "There will be a question over No. 3 position as to whether Karun Nair should be given one more chance. Karun Nair hasn't looked completely out of sorts. However, he hasn't scored enough runs for you to say his selection is certain. I am still tempted to play him another match at No. 3 because he might not get a chance again." The former India opener went on to say both Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel should play. " Shubman Gill at No. 4. Ravi Shastri said that Rishabh Pant shouldn't play if he is not keeping. I am thinking only four players have scored runs - KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant. He scored runs even after getting injured. If Rishabh Pant can't keep the wickets, play him as a batter," Chopra observed. "I am thinking Dhruv Jurel at No. 6 because, apart from him, you only have top-order options. You started with Karun at No. 6 and Sai Sudharsan at No. 3, but that's unlikely to happen. Play Dhruv Jurel at No. 6 because he scored runs for India A against the England Lions." Chopra added that in Manchester there might not be place for an extra spinner. If Chopra's take happens then Kuldeep Yadav will miss the fourth test too. " Ravindra Jadeja will play for sure. I feel Washington Sundar will also play for sure because he is coming after picking up four wickets. I feel you cannot play an extra spinner here. It is not Oval or Edgbaston. You will have to play fast bowlers here. So I am thinking three fast bowlers," he said. "Bumrah and Siraj will be seen playing for sure. The third pacer could be a toss-up between Anshul Kamboj and Prasidh Krishna if Akash Deep is unavailable. Ideally, you should go back to Prasidh Krishna, but he has leaked a lot of runs. So you might see Anshul Kamboj debuting here."

IND Vs ENG, 4th Test: India To Modify Template In Manchester After Injury Setbacks

India have been hit by injuries to several players which could impact their strategy for the 4th Test in Manchester that starts from Wednesday. An injury-ridden India might need to change its preferred strategy when facing a revitalized England in the fourth Test starting Wednesday at Old Trafford, aiming to break their winless streak there and level the series. After the first Test in Leeds, India had settled on a line-up featuring three all-rounders, including Nitish Reddy, who is now out of the series due to a knee injury. With Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar as spin-bowling allrounders, India had solid batting until number eight. However, this might change in Manchester, where India has yet to win in nine attempts, comprising four losses and five draws. England leads 2-1 heading into the penultimate game of the series. Shardul For Reddy? Shardul Thakur, who played in the series opener, is the direct replacement for Reddy but doesn't offer the same batting prowess. If selected, he would need to improve his bowling performance, as Reddy took crucial wickets in the third Test at Lord's. India might return to the combination used in Leeds, where Jadeja was the sole spinner and specialist batters were included up to number six, with both Karun Nair and Sai Sudharsan in the playing eleven. Uncapped pacers Anshul Kamboj and Prasidh Krishna are also options, either of whom could replace Akash Deep if he doesn't recover fully from his groin injury. Kamboj, like Akash Deep, can generate significant seam movement and looked in good form during the first outdoor training session before the high-stakes match. He was also part of India A's shadow tour of England. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj are certain starters in the playing eleven. The Indian batting line-up, led by Shubman Gill, faltered at Lord's, and they will aim to correct their course in this crucial game. Despite low returns in the third Test, Gill has scored over 600 runs in the series and needs to return to his prolific form from the team's perspective. Jofra Archer has twice dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal in his successful return to Test cricket, and the young Indian left-hander will be better prepared to face Archer's pace. Gill has been the top run-scorer for India, but KL Rahul has looked the most assured across six innings, providing a batting masterclass in English conditions at the top of the order. Rishabh Pant seems to have fully recovered from his finger injury and is expected to perform his dual duties as usual. If Nair gets another chance, he will be keen to convert his starts into a big score. Ravindra Jadeja has been solid in the middle order with four consecutive 50-plus scores but is expected to contribute more with the ball. When: July 23-27 India doesn't play at Old Trafford regularly, with their last match there in 2014. The last Indian century at this venue was scored by Sachin Tendulkar in 1990. India is in a must-win situation, while England holds the advantage, having led the series at Lord's. Ben Stokes, as usual, selected his playing eleven before the game, with Liam Dawson replacing the injured Shoaib Bashir. Dawson, the left-arm spinner, last played for England in July 2017. Manchester has experienced regular rain over the past week, with light showers forecasted for most of the five days. The damp weather will provide moisture for fast bowlers on day one. The heated exchanges between the teams have added excitement to the series, promising another thrilling match at Old Trafford. 'Every game we've played so far has gone into the last hour of the game, which you do not see very often. I've had a lot of people come up to me saying 'it's been an amazing series, thank you'. Everybody said that the Lord's game was one of the best games that they've watched, so it's been an amazing series and I'm looking forward to the rest of it," said Harry Brook. Full Squads India: Shubman Gill (captain), Rishabh Pant (vc & wk), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Kuldeep Yadav, Anshul Kamboj. England XI: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope (vc), Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (c), Jamie Smith (wk), Liam Dawson, Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer.
