All depts achieve 100 per cent target under disease control drive
Varanasi: The special communicable disease control campaign was successfully conducted from April 1 to April 30 with all departments achieving nearly 100 per cent of their targets. During the Dastak campaign , the health department surveyed approximately 7 lakh households. Individuals with symptoms of fever and influenza-like illness (cold, cough, flu) were screened. Additionally, community and self-help group meetings, and public awareness rallies were organised. District malaria officer Sharad Chand Pandey said under the communicable disease control campaign, Dastak campaign was conducted from April 10 to April 30. Asha and Anganwadi workers identified 2,091 fever cases and 496 ILI (influenza-like illness) patients by visiting households. Under the Dastak campaign, Asha workers identified 697 individuals with malaria symptoms, 496 with cold and fever, 35 with TB symptoms, 39 with filariasis symptoms, and 4 with leprosy symptoms. All were examined and treated. A total of 2,516 drains were cleaned, and 1,439 bushes were cut. Additionally, 308 India Mark-2 hand pumps and 126 platforms were repaired. 110 ponds and 145 areas with stagnant water were cleaned. The Swachh Bharat Mission constructed 569 toilets. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Sandeep Chaudhary urged people to maintain cleanliness around their homes round the year.
