Another technical snag? Indigo flight to Imphal suffers snag mid-air, returns to Delhi, airline says...
Indigo Airlines- File image New Delhi: An Indigo flight from Delhi to Imphal suffered a minor technical snag and returned to the capital minutes after it took-off on Thursday. According to the airline, the aircraft landed safely and resumed its trip shortly, after necessary checks. An Indigo spokesperson who was quoted by ANI mentioned 'A minor technical snag was detected soon after take-off on flight 6E 5118 operating from Delhi to Imphal. As a precautionary step, the pilots decided to turn-back and landed safely at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi.' The airline added 'In line with the mandatory procedures, the aircraft underwent necessary checks and resumed the journey shortly thereafter.' Mumbai officials mentioned about a similar issue that was seen earlier on Tuesday, when an Indigo flight from Delhi to Goa had to make an emergency landing in Mumbai, after one of its engines experienced an issue mid-air. Both the incidents involved Airbus planes from the A320neo family, and both had taken off from Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA). What happened on Tuesday? Airport officials mentioned the issue occurred around 9:27 PM when the flight was approximately 100 nautical miles North from Bhubaneshwar. 'The pilot declared 'PAN PAN PAN'—an urgent radio call signalling a non-life-threatening emergency—due to a malfunction in engine number 1,' told one of the officials on the condition of anonymity. The airline, however, mentioned the reason being a technical glitch. An IndiGo spokesperson said 'A technical snag was detected on flight 6E 6271 while flying from Delhi to Manohar International Airport, Goa on 16 July 2025. Following procedures, the aircraft was diverted and landed in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai.' At 9:32 pm, a diversion was requested by the flight crew to Mumbai. 'It was then that, as per the SOP, an ambulance as well as fire tenders were on standby and followed the aircraft till the bay. The aircraft, however, landed safely at 9:53 pm, two minutes ahead of its expected arrival time,' mentioned a second official.

Jaipur-A'bad flight cancelled due to glitch before takeoff
Jaipur: A Jaipur-Ahmedabad flight was delayed by over two hours Friday and later cancelled due to technical issues, said officials. "A technical issue was noticed in the flight before take-off, due to which the flight was initially delayed and then cancelled," said an official from Jaipur International Airport. Indigo Airlines flight 6E 7217, which had a scheduled departure of 8:35am, was brought back to the airport apron just minutes before take-off, after which engineers worked on the aircraft to resolve the issue. A total of 60 passengers were on the flight. "During the pre-flight safety checks, the pilot noticed a minor technical snag, which was conveyed to the air traffic controller, and the flight was taken back. Engineers and experts worked to resolve the issue, but as it was taking time, the airlines decided to cancel the flight instead of making passengers wait without any clear timeline," said an Indigo spokesperson. The spokesperson added that after this, all passengers were made to deboard, given refreshments, and offered alternate travel arrangements. The airlines added that a full refund was given to passengers who did not make use of alternate travel arrangements. Meanwhile, passengers on SpiceJet flight SG 1077 from Jaipur to Pune had to face over seven hours of delay Friday. The flight, scheduled to depart from Jaipur at 5:05am, left at 12:25pm Friday and landed in Pune at 2:40pm instead of the scheduled 7:30am. As the passengers waited at Jaipur airport, the flight was rescheduled twice. Officials said that the flight was delayed due to operational issues.

‘Go back, stitch slippers': FIR lodged against 3 IndiGo officials for alleged caste based harassment of trainee pilot
A trainee pilot at Indigo Airlines has alleged that three officials engaged in caste-based discrimination and humiliation during a meeting on April 28 in Gurgaon, according to a report by the Times of India (TOI). An FIR has been registered against these officials. The case has been filed under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The 35-year-old trainee pilot from Bengaluru has alleged that his senior colleagues, Tapas Dey, Manish Sahani, and Captain Rahul Patil, made casteist remarks against him including statements such as 'you are not fit to fly an aircraft, go back and stitch slippers' and 'you don't even have the worth to be a watchman here," the report said. The 'harassment' began after the complainant was asked by Dey to leave his phone and bag outside in a 'demeaning manner,' it added. The trainee pilot claimed that the harassment continued for days and was intended to pressurise him to resign. "The statements they made were not only humiliating but clearly aimed at degrading my identity and status as a Scheduled Caste person," the report quoted the complaint. He alleged that harassment was more than verbal abuse, including unjustified salary deductions, forced retraining sessions, revocation of travel privileges, and unwarranted warning letters. The complainant raised the issue to the higher authorities and the ethics committee of the airlines; however, no action was taken against the accused officials, forcing him to approach legal recourse, the report noted. The FIR, which was first filed in Bengaluru and transferred to t DLF-1 police station in Gurgaon was lodged under sections 3(1)(r) and 3(1)(s) of the SC/ST Act, that address intentional insults or intimidation intended to humiliate a member of a Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe in public sphere. The FIR has also been filed under Sections 351(2) (criminal intimidation), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 3(5) (common intention) of BNS. "We have begun collecting evidence and will soon record the statements of all parties involved," assistant sub-inspector Dalwinder Singh told TOI. Denying the allegations by the trainee pilot, an IndiGo spokesperson told ANI, 'IndiGo upholds a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of discrimination, harassment, or bias and remains firmly committed to being an inclusive and respectful workplace. IndiGo strongly refutes these baseless claims and stands by its values of fairness, integrity, and accountability and will extend its support to the law enforcement agencies as required.'
