Late-night TV hosts react to ‘Late Show' cancellation

Late-night TV hosts and celebrities are reacting to news of the cancellation of "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" and the entire franchise, effective May 2026. Jimmy Kimmel, host of ABC"s "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," re-shared Colbert's on-air announcement about the cancellation in an Instagram Story post, voicing his support for Colbert while criticizing "Late Show" host network CBS. In an Instagram Story message, Jimmy Fallon said he was 'shocked' by the show cancellation announcement and praised his fellow late-night TV host. 'I'm just as shocked as everyone. Stephen is one of the sharpest, funniest hosts to ever do it,' the NBC 'The Tonight Show' host wrote. 'I really thought I'd ride this out with him for years to come. I'm sad that my family and friends will need a new show to watch every night at 11:30. But honestly, he's really been a gentleman and a true friend over the years - going back to The Colbert Report, and I'm sure whatever he does next will be just as brilliant.' 'Watch What Happens Live' host Andy Cohen didn't share a post but re-shared a headshot of Colbert on his Instagram Story. 'Severance' star Adam Scott commented on 'The Late Show' reel featuring the cancellation news, writing, 'Love you, Stephen this is absolute b-------, and I for one am looking forward to the next 10 months of shows.' Journalist Katie Couric also commented, saying, 'I am so upset about this. I need more information. We love you @stephenathome.' Director and producer Judd Apatow chimed in, commending Colbert for his work over the years. 'My admiration and appreciation for you is bottomless,' Apatow wrote. 'Excited to see what other brilliance you put into the world.' 'Snow White' star Rachel Zegler also commented, saying, 'I am extremely sad. I adore you, Stephen.' CBS announced Thursday that the network was canceling "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," with the longtime franchise ending in May 2026 after more than 30 years on air. 'The Late Show' began in 1993 with host David Letterman at the helm. Colbert succeeded Letterman in 2015 when the latter retired. "This is purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night," George Cheeks, CBS' president and co-chief executive of CBS parent company Paramount, said in a statement announcing the decision. "It is not related in any way to the show's performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount." Paramount has been working to finalize a deal to sell Paramount to Skydance Media, which needs approval from the Trump administration to go through. President Trump celebrated news of the cancellation of "The Late Show," writing in a social media post, "I absolutely love that Colbert' got fired." "His talent was even less than his ratings. I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert," Trump continued, in part. 'Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show.'

Ex-NFL star Everson Griffen's ‘unruly behavior' forced flight to turn around

A former NFL star had to be removed from a Delta Airlines flight after he allegedly caused a disturbance mid-trip on Wednesday. Ex-Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen was headed to Minneapolis from Chicago when the alleged incident took place and forced the plane to return to O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, TMZ reported. The specifics of the incident are unknown, and it wasn't immediately clear if Griffen was facing any legal ramifications. Advertisement A Delta spokesperson confirmed to The Post that a flight from O'Hare to Minneapolis/St. Paul returned to Chicago 'to have an unruly passenger removed.' 3 Minnesota Vikings' Everson Griffen (97) celebrates after a sack against the Carolina Panthers in the second half of an NFL football game in Charlotte, N.C., Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016. AP 'Delta has zero tolerance for unruly behavior and will always work with law enforcement to that end,' the spokesperson said. 'We apologize to our customers for the delay in their travel as safety and security comes before everything else at Delta.' Flight logs showed Delta flight 1902 departed O'Hare at 10:56 a.m. CDT and touched back down in Chicago a little more than an hour later at 12:09 p.m. Advertisement The Chicago Department of Aviation, which oversees O'Hare, directed The Post back to Delta when asked for comment. Griffen, 37, posted to social media earlier in the day, expressing excitement about his trip in an Instagram Story video of him arriving at the airport, captioning it 'We out Chiccago.' The former NFL defensive end played over a decade in the league, spending 11 seasons with the Vikings and splitting the 2020 campaign between time with the Cowboys and Lions. Griffen was placed on the non-football injury/illness list in November 2021 related to mental health issues, several days after the Vikings played the Packers. It came after a standoff with police at his home that started after he had called 911 and told the dispatcher that someone had been inside the house and he needed help. AP He also posted, and later deleted, a video on Instagram of himself holding a gun and saying people were trying to kill him. Griffen later said he was 'bipolar' in a post on Instagram. In May 2024, Griffen was arrested for DWI and possession of cocaine, and as part of a plea deal, he had his driver's license revoked. He was also ordered to commit no alcohol-related or careless driving offenses.

Jennifer Garner's Father's Day Tribute to Ben Affleck Is a Quiet Moment of Co-Parenting Love

Jennifer Garner gave her Instagram Story fans a temperature read on where she stands with ex-husband Ben Affleck and the post might have come as a surprise to some. In honor of Father's Day, the 13 Going on 30 star dug through her photo archives for a sweet snapshot of Affleck with one of their three children as an infant. The little one was sleeping on their dad's chest as he cradled them in his arms while lying on the couch. More from SheKnows Megan Fox & Machine Gun Kelly Reveal Their Newborn Daughter's Name - & It's Both Poetic & Edgy 'Happy Father's Day to 3 people's favorite landing spot,' Garner sweetly wrote on the photo. (You can see the photo here.) The former couple shares three children: Violet, 19, Fin, 16, and Samuel, 13. Despite the rocky ending of their marriage fraught with addiction and alleged infidelity, Garner has always maintained that she has no regrets about her life with Affleck. 'I didn't marry the big fat movie star; I married him,' she told Vanity Fair in 2016. 'And I would go back and remake that decision. I ran down the beach to him, and I would again. You can't have these three babies and so much of what we had. He's the love of my life.' Two years after Garner and Affleck had finalized their divorce, he still praised his ex-wife's parenting skills. 'When you have children with somebody, you're connected to them forever,' Affleck explained to People in February 2020. 'And I'm very lucky she is the mother of my children. I'm very grateful and respectful of her. Our marriage didn't work, and that's difficult. Both of us really believe that it's important for kids to see their parents respect one another and get along, whether they're together or not.' The last year for them wasn't easy either despite no longer being married. Affleck was trying to wrap up his divorce with Jennifer Lopez and the tabloids went crazy about his close bond with Garner even though she's dating John Miller. 'Ben and Jen are closer than ever,' a source told Life & Style in December 2024. 'They've developed a mutual respect and a deeper level of friendship they didn't have before… [Garner] has watched him evolve. She's seen the progress and the transformation, and it's changed how she feels about him.' It's no longer a romantic connection, but Affleck and Garner appear to have unlocked a new level of co-parenting — one filled with admiration and of SheKnows Tween & Teen Slang 2025: A Definitive Guide to 'What the Hellyante' Your Kid Is Saying Right Now Celebrity Parents Who Are So Proud of Their LGBTQ Kids Recent Baby & Toddler Product Recalls Every Parent and Caregiver Should Know About

Michelle Pfeiffer slams ‘very concerning' FDA-approved food technology once backed by Bill Gates

Pfeiffer is piping up. Michelle Pfeiffer took to Instagram on Thursday to slam Apeel – an FDA-approved food technology once funded by Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates. After sharing a post that claimed 'organic produce is no longer safe' because 'Bill Gates' Apeel just got approved for USDA-certified organic,' the actress said that she was 'very concerned' about the approval. 10 A screenshot of Michelle Pfeiffer's Instagram Story post on Thursday, July 10. michellepfeifferofficial/Instagram 10 A screenshot of Michelle Pfeiffer's second Instagram Story post on Thursday, July 10. michellepfeifferofficial/Instagram 'Apeel (an edible, plant-based coating designed to extend the shelf life of fresh fruits and vegetables) was just approved and now 'organic' produce is coated in something we cannot see or wash off,' Pfeiffer, 67, wrote on her Instagram Stories. 'Very concerning.' The 'Batman Returns' icon returned to the social media platform to share a list of grocery stores and markets that will not sell products coated in Apeel. The list included major stores like Costco, Publix and Trader Joe's. Apeel Sciences was founded in 2012 by CEO James Rogers. He received two grants from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which totaled less than $1.1 million. Since then, Apeel has reportedly been backed by venture capitalist Andreessen Horowitz. 10 Michelle Pfeiffer attends a ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre on April 25, 2025, in Hollywood, California. 'We're a team who value honesty and transparency, dedicated to enhancing food accessibility and sustainability,' the statement concluded. Meanwhile, Apeel's website claims that the company's mission 'has always been to eradicate food insecurity for the most vulnerable people.' 10 A screenshot from Apeel's website promising 'honesty and transparency.' apeel_sciences/Instagram 'Apeel Sciences was founded on the promise of developing safe, sustainable solutions that extend the quality and life of fresh produce, making it more accessible and enjoyable to consumers while reducing food waste around the world,' the website reads. 'Apeel helps reduce waste with a natural alternative to plastic packaging,' it continues, 'promoting better food systems and a healthier planet.' Despite Pfeiffer's concern that the coating cannot be 'washed off,' the company claims that 'you can remove Apeel coatings by rinsing your fruits or veggies with water and gently scrubbing them using your hands or a soft brush.' 10 Michelle Pfeiffer at a screening during the 2025 TCM Classic Film Festival on April 25, 2025, in Hollywood, California. Pfeiffer made headlines last year when she announced that she would star in an AppleTV+ series, 'Margo's Got Money Troubles,' alongside Elle Fanning and Nicole Kidman. '2025 is already off to a great start!' she wrote on Instagram in September. The couple met during a blind date in 1993 and married later that year. The 'Scarface' star previously claimed that she would never work with her husband, although that rule has apparently changed when it comes to 'Margo's Got Money Troubles.' 'I've seen a lot of couples where they seem to have a really great marriage, and then they work together and next year they're filing for divorce,' she told The New Yorker in 2021.
