Hamas Reaffirms Support for Diplomacy, Preparedness for Prolonged Resistance
Taarek Refaat The Palestinian movement Hamas declared on Friday its full support for the Palestinian delegation participating in indirect ceasefire negotiations with Israel, while simultaneously affirming its readiness for a long-term war of attrition if talks fail. In a statement issued by its military spokesperson Abu Ubaida, Hamas said it is 'closely monitoring' the ongoing negotiations and hopes the current round will lead to a comprehensive agreement that ends the war, secures the withdrawal of Israeli forces, and ensures the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. However, Abu Ubaida warned that if Israel continues to stall or rejects the terms — as Hamas alleges it has done in past rounds — then the movement will not return to partial deals, including the so-called '10 prisoner proposal', which has been a point of contention in previous talks. According to Hamas, more than four months into the resumption of the war, it has inflicted heavy losses on Israeli forces, claiming hundreds of soldiers have been killed or injured. The group also disclosed that it has made multiple attempts in recent weeks to capture Israeli soldiers in Gaza. 'If the occupation government insists on continuing this war of extermination, it should prepare for more funerals of its soldiers and officers,' Abu Ubaida stated. Hamas accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of rejecting a Hamas offer for a comprehensive prisoner exchange deal that would see all captives released in a single phase, suggesting that the Israeli government is uninterested in recovering its soldiers held by Hamas. The movement strongly denounced Israel's ongoing military campaign, condemning what it called the systematic targeting of civilians, the destruction of residential areas, and the continued siege on Gaza for the past 21 months. Hamas further accused the Israeli government of 'torturing innocent people,' publicly advocating for the displacement of the Palestinian population, and presenting what it described as 'Nazi-style detention camps' disguised as humanitarian shelters. The statement comes amid renewed negotiations to revive a ceasefire agreement brokered earlier this year by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States, which came into effect on January 19, 2025. That agreement included a three-phase plan involving ceasefire enforcement, prisoner exchanges, and humanitarian relief. The first phase, lasting 42 days included a partial Israeli military withdrawal from densely populated areas, the exchange of prisoners and detainees, the return of internally displaced Palestinians to their homes, and increased humanitarian aid into Gaza, in addition to medical evacuations for the wounded and ill. However, since March 2, the agreement has stalled, with Israel closing border crossings, blocking fuel and shelter supplies, and resuming airstrikes on March 18. Israeli ground troops also re-entered areas from which they had previously withdrawn. While aid delivery resumed in May under a new Israeli-American mechanism, this was done without the approval of UNRWA, which has criticized the arrangement for violating established international aid protocols. The second phase of the truce, meant to stabilize the ceasefire and secure further prisoner releases, remains on hold, with negotiations continuing but no permanent ceasefire yet secured. Hamas's statement underscores the growing pressure on all parties to reach a sustainable solution as Gaza continues to suffer, hostilities escalate, and the humanitarian crisis deepens. As indirect talks continue, Hamas's dual message — of support for diplomacy and preparedness for prolonged resistance — reflects the fragile nature of the current negotiations and the high stakes for both sides. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language

The Springbok women's rugby team embraces Tyla's chart-topping song 'Is It' in their latest TikTok video. The team recently created a TikTok Reel of their arrival at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, which featured the singer's hit song 'Is It' as they entered the stadium for their second test match against Canada. The reel showed the women's team stepping off the bus and walking into the venue, setting the tone for an energetic and motivational performance they were about to put up. Khloé Kardashian Reveals All of the Cosmetic Procedures She's Had Done
Photo Illustration: Glamour; Photos: NBC/Getty Images,Is Khloé Kardashian taking a cue from her younger sister Kylie Jenner? Khloé, who just celebrated her 41st birthday, just revealed each cosmetic procedure she's had done over the years, from her nose job to her laser hair removal. She shared the complete list in the comments section of a Reel shared by Jonny Betteridge, founder of the London-based JB Aesthetics Clinic. In the video, Betteridge speculated about the treatments the reality star has had; he was sure to clarify that his speculations were based purely on his own experience in the industry. He concluded that he thought Kardashian had had several surgical procedures, including: 'a temporal brow lift to elevate the outer brow area; upper blepharoplasty to smooth the upper eyelids; rhinoplasty for a more sculpted nose; a face and neck lift for overall tightness and definition; and a chin implant for lower face projection.' He also speculated that Kardashian had had lip filler 'to enhance volume and shape.' (See the full video here.) In her reply, Kardashian wrote that she was not offended by Betteridge's guesswork, and actually took it 'as a great compliment.' However, she says that the only surgery she's had is her nose job. 'In 2025 there are many other things we can do before surgery, but when it's time, and if I choose to, I know some great doctors,' she wrote. (Could she be referring to the surgeon responsible for her mom Kris Jenner's viral facelift?) Plastic Surgery Kylie Jenner Shared Her Breast Implant Sizing. We Asked Plastic Surgeons to Explain Want a boob job like Jenner's? Read this first. Here's the full break down, in Khloé's words: 'Nose job @drkanodia90210; laser Hair for the hairline and everywhere else 🤭 @sevlaseraesthetics; Botox and sculptra where my face tumor was removed in my cheek @7qspa; soft wave laser for skin tightening @softwavetherapy; filler in the past but not any over the last few years (I hear it never goes away, so I'm sure it's still there but calmed down 🙏🏽); lost 80 pounds over the years (slow and steady) @ collagen baby Threads underneath my chin and neck @ Salmon sperm facials/ regular facials, peptides, vitamins and daily skin care.' Khloé Kardashian is one of several celebrities who have opted for complete transparency when it comes to her transformation, a stark contrast to celebrities of the past who may have denied their face lifts, or breast implants, or whatever procedure they'd had done, at all costs. Sir Mark Cavendish makes triumphant return to Isle of Man after raceway named in his honour
ITV Granada's sports correspondent Chris Hall speaks to Sir Mark Cavendish as he relaunches the raceway renamed in his honour Sir Mark Cavendish has returned to the Isle of Man raceway where he fell in love with cycling as a young boy, to see it renamed in his honour. Children from every school in the Island were on hand for the launch of the Sir Mark Cavendish Raceway at the National Sports Centre in Douglas, which marks the culmination of a community project involving thousands of young people. During the event, Sir Mark completed a timed lap of the 1km circuit before joining hundreds of children for a celebratory ride-out. He unveiled a new podium, a custom finish line, permanent signage, and a giant woven quote bearing the words: 'I dreamed of being like my heroes'. A large artwork featuring the names of pupils from every Isle of Man school was also revealed. Sir Mark and his children searched for their own names among them. 'I love this place,' he added. 'We're so lucky with what we have in the Isle of Man - the NSC, the facilities, the support. I wouldn't be where I am without it.'The project aims to celebrate Sir Mark's legacy by encouraging the next generation to follow their dreams as he did, while recognising the place where his extraordinary journey began. The pupils were joined by members of Sir Mark's former cycling club to watch the Manx Missile complete a timed 'hot lap' of the 1km circuit, before joining him for a special ride-out ceremony also involved a giant artwork featuring the names of hundreds of pupils which was unveiled, alongside a new podium, custom finish line, and permanent signage. The display centres on an inspirational quote: 'I dreamt of being like my heroes.', drawn from Sir Mark's own reflections before childhood races, and it helps to inspired the entire project. Children have played a creative role throughout — nominating their own heroes, designing banners, and submitting questions for Sir Mark, with a number of lucky pupils being selected to interview him about his life and Mark said: 'I fell in love with cycling right here. It's where it all began for me, so it's a very special place. "I am deeply moved by the thought and detail that has gone into every element." Sir Mark turned professional at 18 and claimed 165 career wins, including a record 35 Tour de France stage victories, making him one of the most decorated riders in cycling history. Daphne Caine MHK, Minister for Education, Sport and Culture, said: 'This exciting project shows that with belief and determination, anything is possible. Sir Mark is a fantastic role model, and young people are truly at the heart of this — just as he wished.' Deborah Heather, CEO of Visit Isle of Man, added: 'This place played a key role in Sir Mark's journey — and we're thrilled to help tell that story to the world. Imagine having the golf club where Tiger Woods first played golf or the football pitch where Lionel Messi scored his first goal – the Isle of Man has something very special and this project honours it.'
