Park Place offers plenty of nature, a great floor plan and vibrant amenities
When it comes to creating lively epicentres of connection with family and friends, a thoughtful floor plan with fabulous spaces for entertaining and a well-designed kitchen are key elements, especially in homes with pared down square footages. Article content For home buyer Chris Isaak, who loves to entertain, a floor plan that worked for his family dynamic — his younger sister lives with him as does his beloved fur baby, Ruby — and for his active social life — he enjoys cooking for friends and family — was top-of-mind. He also wanted to live in a connected, active, walkable and very social community. He found everything that he was looking for at Park Place in Mahogany, a collection of 100 townhomes designed and built by the multi-award-winning team at Jayman Built. Article content Article content Article content 'I really have everything that I could possibly want in a standalone single-family home in my new townhome,' says Isaak. 'Plus, the community of Mahogany is second to none. It has downtown vibrancy when you want it, but in the evenings it's quiet and calm and serene.' Article content Article content Isaak purchased the Malbec townhome model, one of 10 floor plans offered at Park Place. The three-storey 1,717-square-foot townhome backs directly onto Central Green, a 13-acre park and features a double-car garage with a lower flex room, a separate dining room space on the main level and on the upper floor, a large primary bedroom with a five-piece ensuite and two secondary bedrooms. Article content The Park Place collection of townhomes features models named after wine varietals with floor plans ranging from 1,380 to 1,742 sq. ft. with attached double, tandem or single-car garages. Each townhome features Jayman's Core Performance, including six solar panels per home, smart home technology solutions, tankless hot water heater, triple pane windows, an electric vehicle charging outlet, and air conditioning. Article content Article content Spurred on by a medical diagnosis (Isaak was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis two years ago), the former paramedic now turned financial executive, began looking for his first home 18 months ago, and toured close to 14 show homes, all in the southeast quadrant. Article content 'I was renting a condo on the sixth floor in Britannia and the diagnosis really put a lot of things in perspective. I really wanted to start securing my future, and I was essentially lighting my money on fire every month with the rental. I wanted to own property,' he says. Article content He knew that he wanted to purchase a townhome, either in the community of Mahogany or close by. Article content 'Even before I was thinking of buying property, my coworkers and I would hang out at Chairman's Steakhouse or Diner Deluxe. The energy in Mahogany is phenomenal. We'd ride our motorbikes out here to watch the game. It's really becoming a secondary downtown.' Article content The walkability and the lake were also huge draws for Isaak, who is very active and loves to paddleboard. Article content As for builders, he only looked at Jayman Built homes. Article content 'They do a really good job of what they do and I was really impressed by the work that they do with the MS Society,' says Isaak. Jayman Built has partnered with the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada to support MS research and programs. They are the title sponsor of the Jayman Built MS Walk, a fundraising event that raises more than $2.3 million annually. Article content When Isaak set eyes on the Malbec show home, he knew it was for him. Article content 'I basically copied and pasted all of the finishes from the show home into my new home and added a few tweaks to make it my own,' he says. He added a dry bar with a beverage centre on the main floor adjacent to the kitchen, increased the size of the kitchen island by 16 inches and added pops of drama with black pendant lighting and a black sink. Article content Article content 'My favourite room is the kitchen. We've already has lots of people over,' he says. Article content Isaak also changed up the upstairs floor plan converting the primary and two secondary bedroom configuration to two primary bedrooms, both with a five-piece ensuite. Article content Big windows and an open-concept create a bright and sunny living environment. Article content 'I don't have the lights on ever. The south side of the house faces the park, so no obstructions. I was nervous about the light because this is a middle townhome, but it is so bright. On the north side of the home, the sun cuts through,' he says. Article content His dog, Ruby, loves all of the green space. Isaak's home backs onto Central Park, a 13-acre park with tennis courts, pickleball community gardens and an amphitheatre. Mahogany Lake is a three-minute walk from the doorstep. Article content 'Now, I can just open my door and go for a walk around the lake with her. She's already made friends and the dog park is close, too — a five-minute walk away.' Article content Article content 'Park Place really encompasses all of the benefits of maintenance-free, resort-style living with the best views in Mahogany,' says Jordan D'Haese, sales manager for Jayman Built. Article content Isaak moved into his new home at the end of May and is excited to get out paddleboarding. Article content 'My boards are set and ready to go. I used to go out to Canmore to paddleboard. Now I don't have to worry about the hour drive and the cost of gas — I can carry my paddleboard half a block to the lake and launch and go for a lap around the lake in the morning before I head off to work. I don't plan on any vacations this summer. This is my vacation,' he says with a laugh. Article content BUILDER/DEVELOPER: Jayman Built. Article content COMMUNITY: Mahogany by Hopewell Residential. Article content HOME MODEL: The Malbec, a three-storey townhome that backs directly onto Central Green, and features a double-car garage with a lower flex room, a separate dining room space on the main level and on the upper floor, a large primary bedroom with a five-piece ensuite and two secondary bedrooms. Rupert Murdoch's 'wild child' granddaughter Charlotte Freud passionately kisses new boyfriend
By Rupert Murdoch 's 'wild child' granddaughter Charlotte Freud has packed on the PDA with her new beau, following the shock collapse of her marriage. The daughter of PR guru Matthew Freud and Elisabeth Murdoch 'hard launched' her new romance with actor Isaak Presley, 22, last month. It appears that the pair are still going strong, with Charlotte, 25, sharing a series of loved-up photos to Instagram this week. Putting on quite the racy display, Charlotte wore a black corset and suspenders for the pulse-raising pics. She added an air of regal chic to her sultry gothic look with a silver tiara perched atop her jet black locks. Her beau, meanwhile, matched Charlotte in a black tank top and an eye-catching black leather cowboy hat. One romantic black and white photo showed the couple smiling as they stared longingly into each other's eyes. The pair were certainly not afraid to flaunt their recently ignited passion, with another photo showing the lovebirds sharing a very steamy kiss. The mood continued in another shot that documented the tender moment in black and white. Shot from a further distance, Charlotte flaunted her pert derrière and trim pins, which were augmented with fishnet stockings and suspenders. Another more playful image showed the couple hamming it up on what appeared to be a private jet. The photo, shot from Charlotte's perspective, showed her holding her leg aloft as Isaak, sitting opposite, prepared to cheekily bite her toes. Captioning the loved-up snaps, which were included in a series showing the couple celebrating with friends, Charlotte wrote: 'Easter, I hardly knew 'er.' The couple's racy display comes after they hard launched their new relationship in a western-themed photo shoot last month. Charlotte locked lips with the Netflix star as they dressed in coordinating cowboy-style ensembles. She jumped into her new beau's arms and straddled him for the steamy pictures, while Isaak romantically dipped and kissed her in another image. '(Yee) Haw-d launch,' she wrote in the caption, as he responded, 'You got me feelin' luckier than a cowboy with two aces in his boot.' Charlotte showed off her sensational figure in a pair of denim booty shorts teamed with fishnet stockings, a fringed belt and matching fringed cowboy boots. Meanwhile, Isaak was every inch the heartthrob in jeans, a Western shirt, a buckled belt and a cowboy hat. Charlotte is living with her new beau - who goes by the nickname 'Cowboy' owing to his love of horse riding - in Los Angeles, where she is focusing on writing musicals. Friends say Isaak, who starred in the screen hits Fuller House with John Stamos and Stuck in the Middle alongside rising star Jenna Ortega, is a good match for Charlotte. They are both sober, having struggled with alcohol and narcotics addiction in the past - with Charlotte's former hedonistic lifestyle earning her the unsavoury 'wild child' label. Charlotte appeared to confirm the relationship after tagging him in her bed in her latest Instagram post last month. Charlotte previously married British rapper Luke Storey - 15 years her senior - in 2022. They wed at St Mary's Church in Westwell, Oxfordshire in 2022, with her grandad Rupert flying in amid his divorce from his fourth wife, Texan supermodel Jerry Hall. However the pair split just 14 months later - though she claims it was over almost immediately after saying 'I do'. 'We had been married for 12 hours when our whole world fell apart,' she explained. 'He relapsed on the way to our honeymoon. It wasn't a great sign.' Charlotte, now 25, met Luke – a self-confessed recovering drug and alcohol addict – when she was just 18 and he was 33. He encouraged Charlotte to join Narcotics Anonymous, helping to end her addiction to ketamine. Charlotte once admitted that she used ketamine so frequently during high school that peers nicknamed her 'K-angel' after the drug. She said she struggled to cope with the high-profile scandals involving her family and 'overcompensated' for her glamorous upbringing by rebelling at school. Charlotte said she soon realised that recovery would play a big part in her marriage. She said: 'It felt like there were three people in the relationship – me and him and our recovery. 'If our recovery was strong then we were strong, and if it wasn't we were falling apart. We had a great relationship when we were sober, but neither of us could stay sober.
