Chelsea fans predict 16-year-old will become 'club legend' just like his dad

Chelsea fans have tipped Thiago Silva's son to become a 'club legend' after he was signed as a scholar ahead of the upcoming 2025-26 season. The Blues unveiled their latest group of first-year scholars on Friday, with Isago Silva one of 16 young players announced before the new campaign. The 16-year-old mainly features as a left-back but can also be deployed as a central defender and Blues supporters are already getting behind him. His father played 155 games for Chelsea from 2020 to 2024, with the club winning the Champions League during his spell at Stamford Bridge. 'He is gonna be [a] club legend like his dad,' @Zeck_Sol posted on X about Silva's son. 'Legend in the making,' @OOO_Observer added on the social media platform. A 'scholar' in football refers to a youngster on a full-time scholarship contract, a key development stage for a number of players. Normally aged 16 to 18, they train professionally while continuing their education – often for two to three years – before the possibility of turning fully pro. 'Carrying on the Silva legacy at the bridge, excited to see what Isago brings to the pitch,' @anoinv said. 'Following in his father's footsteps,' @byteweb33 stated. 'The legacy continues!' 'From Thiago to Isago, one legend passes the torch to the next,' @Blues_Alfred continued. 'Can't wait to see him shine in blue!' Silva's son first joined Chelsea at U13 level, following his dad's move to the west London club from Paris Saint-Germain. The Brazilian teenager has already played for Chelsea U18s, making his debut at that level in a 3-1 win over Leicester City U18s in February. Chelsea's new scholarship class also includes 16-year-old wonderkid Reggie Walsh. The teen is the only player in the 2025-26 intake to have appeared for the first team, having featured in the Conference League last season. Walsh was singled out for praise by Chelsea captain Reece James after playing in Chelsea's 1-0 win over Djurgården in last term's semi-finals. More Trending Speaking after the match, James told TNT Sports: 'I've seen him in training but training and games is different but this is the first time I have seen him play. I didn't realise how good he actually was.' Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca added: 'How good is he? You can see that he is a good player. 'He is that kind of player that we like, very good. For sure he is young and he has many things to do and to grow. 'Very happy for him, very happy for his family and he has to enjoy this moment.'
