He emerged as a standout player in the previous Ranji season, where he racked up 674 runs in eight matches at a brilliant average of 56.16, notching two hundreds and five fifties in the process. He ended up being the leading run-scorer for his state in the competition. While he has been brought in as an emergency replacement, it will be interesting to note whether he will make it to the playing XI or not for the Oval Test. According to a report in Indian Express newspaper, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Jharkhand wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan had been called up by the BCCI selectors to join the Indian squad in England ahead of fifth Test next week. But there is more bad news for BCCI and the Indian team as even Ishan Kishan is reportedly injured. Kishan had turned out for Nottinghamshire in a couple of matches in County Championships this year but he has got injured in an accident. However, he trailed off for most of the remaining season, apart from scoring 94 not out against IPL 2025 champions RCB towards the end of the season.
