On World Refugee Day: Hamas Says No Solution to Refugees Except Ending Occupation

DayofPal– The Hamas Movement affirmed that the global celebration of World Refugee Day, amid the ongoing war of extermination and starvation in Gaza, places the international community before political, legal, humanitarian, and moral responsibilities to put an end to the Israeli crimes. In a press statement issued on Friday, Hamas stated that this year's World Refugee Day comes at a time when the Israeli Zionist occupation is escalating its war of extermination and starvation against the people in Gaza, committing daily massacres and crimes against the displaced and starving refugees. Hamas added: 'The terrorist occupation government has turned relief operations for the starving into death traps and ambushes, where our Palestinian people are killed at the gates of the criminal American-Zionist-controlled checkpoints distributing humanitarian aid—in the most horrific forms of bloody revenge killings and violations of all international laws, norms, and humanitarian values.' The movement pointed out that the continued aggressive war by the Israeli occupation against refugee camps in the occupied West Bank, through systematic destruction and displacement, is a dangerous escalation in targeting the refugee issue. 'it's only an attempt to erase its features, as a prelude to liquidating our national cause. However, our people will not allow this and will stand as a formidable barrier against it,' it added. Hamas affirmed that the right of return for refugees to the homes they were displaced from by the Israeli occupation is an individual and collective right, recognized by international laws, charters, and UN resolutions. No one has the authority to relinquish, compromise, negotiate away, or abandon this right. The movement reiterated its rejection of all solutions aiming to erase the refugee issue or end the right of return. It also categorically rejected all Israeli attempts, supported by the U.S. administration, to abolish, obscure, or eliminate the role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), or to transfer its mandate to any other entity, especially in the distribution of aid and relief. Hamas emphasized the necessity for the agency, as a UN institution, to fully uphold its responsibilities in distributing aid, serving refugees, and providing them with necessary services. The movement reaffirmed that the Israeli Zionist occupation of Palestine land and its perpetration of crimes of displacement, discrimination, and apartheid against the people for over seven decades is the root cause of the ongoing tragedy and suffering of millions of Palestinian refugees, both inside and in the diaspora. Iran threatens to move nuclear material to secret sites to thwart Israeli strike

Iran threatened on Thursday to move its nuclear material to undeclared sites to protect it from a potential Israeli military strike. Why it matters: The threat, made in an official letter from Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to the UN secretary-general and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) director-general, signal the risk of an unprecedented escalation in the Iranian nuclear crisis. The IAEA is currently able to access and monitor Iran's enriched uranium stockpiles, which are stored in declared sites. If that material is moved, it will be much harder to know whether Iran is building a nuclear weapon or not. Driving the news: The threat comes after CNN and Axios reported that Israel has been making preparations to swiftly strike Iran's nuclear sites if U.S.-Iran nuclear talks break down in the coming weeks. One source told Axios that Israel believes its operational window for a successful strike could close soon. What they are saying:"Under conditions wherein threats made by the Zionist fanatics persist, the Islamic Republic of Iran shall be left with no recourse but to implement special measures for the protection of its nuclear facilities and materials, the relevant particulars of which shall thereafter be communicated to the IAEA," Araghchi wrote. Driving the news: Araghchi and White House envoy Steve Witkoff will hold a fifth round of nuclear talks in Rome on Friday, with Oman's foreign minister mediating. The negotiations have hit a roadblock over the fact that Iran says it will only sign a deal that allows a domestic enrichment capability, and the U.S. has said enrichment is its red line. Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer and the director of Israel's Mossad spy agency David Barnea will meet Witkoff in Rome on Friday on the sidelines of the nuclear talks, two Israeli officials said. The officials said Dermer and Barnea are traveling to Rome to coordinate positions with Witkoff and be briefed immediataely after the talks. State of play: The Israeli intelligence community has shifted just in the past few days from believing a nuclear deal was close to thinking talks could soon break down, Israeli sources say. Hence the urgency behind Israel's preparations to strike fast if President Trump gives a green light. A U.S. official told Axios the Trump administration is concerned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu might make his move even without approval from Trump. Trump spoke to Netanyahu on Thursday and they "agreed on the need to ensure that Iran does not obtain nuclear weapons," per the Israeli readout. The other side: Araghchi wrote in his letter that Iran "will take all necessary measures to protect and defend its citizens, interests, and facilities against any terrorist or sabotage actions." "Iran strongly warns against any adventurism by the Israeli Zionist regime and will respond decisively to any threats or unlawful actions by this regime. We also believe that if any attack is carried out against the nuclear facilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran by the Israeli regime, the U.S. government will be complicit and bear legal responsibility," the Iranian foreign minister wrote.

Malaysia strongly condemns escalation of military operations in Gaza, says Wisma Putra

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia unequivocally condemns the latest declaration by the Israeli Zionist regime to further escalate its military aggression in Gaza, despite ongoing efforts to secure a ceasefire. In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said the regime's deliberate pursuit of mass killings, starvation, and mass displacement of the people of Gaza under the guise of "voluntary transfer', while coercing other nations to accept expelled Palestinians, constitutes flagrant violations of international law. "Malaysia calls on the international community, in particular the United Nations Security Council, to demand that the Israeli regime end these atrocities and uphold international law. "Malaysia stands in unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people in their just struggle for freedom, dignity, and statehood,' the ministry stated. Malaysia reaffirms its principled position that Palestine must be recognised as an independent and sovereign state, based on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital and granted full membership in the United Nations as an equal among nations. Nearly 2.4 million Palestinians in Gaza, most of whom have already been displaced multiple times, continue to face unrelenting starvation, bombardment, and the looming threat of permanent expulsion. Israel's stated intention to maintain a long-term military presence in Gaza only reinforces its policy of occupation of the Palestinian land.- Bernama
