Tips and race-by-race guide for Scone on Monday

Track good 4 and rail true. Race 1 3. Champagne Tonight, an ex-Victorian filly with plenty of ability, will have her first outing in NSW for a leading Armidale stable since debuting early last spring. Showed speed that day against some handy opposition and reportedly has been working well. Gets first use of the inside and likely to start a short-priced favourite after being scratched from the opener at Grafton on Sunday to be saved for this. 9. It Stays In Vegas is a two-year-old trained on the track, and the clear threat fourth-up after placing in his last two. 4. Diva Rouge, fitter into her second start, and 10. Vincetio, who was well outclassed on debut against metropolitan opposition, can fight for the minor prize. How to play it: Champagne Tonight to win and quinella 3 and 9. Race 2 8. Liberty London can improve sharply second-up off a lengthy break, and significantly back on a bigger track four weeks between runs. Never got much room when settling back in her first NSW run, but balances up much better here and can produce a telling final 300m burst. 2. Royal Armada reloads for the new home stable with gear changes three weeks after doing next to nothing from well back at Wyong. 1. Power Through is a big market watch resuming for his second prep behind a tidy trial. 3. Keinbah's Gift made some late ground on debut at Newcastle in heavy going and can improve sharply back on top of the ground. 4. Hannah's Bridge can run into the minor money from the inside draw. How to play it: Liberty London to win. Race 3 7. Ichika is an improving mare tracking nicely to peak third-up. Ran home well when having her first run in NSW after transferring from Queensland, then again hit the line late from even further back in a Super Maiden at Tamworth. Drawn to settle a bit closer from this draw, and a stronger jockey goes on. 6. Epic Statement is the likely market threat, despite drawing wide third-up. Has also done her best work late in two closing efforts this prep and another one suited by the big stretch here. 5. Airwalker is over the odds second-up from a softer draw; while 2. Hanoverian, lightly raced and second-up, and home tracker 9. Lily Darling, resuming off a quiet trial here can both add value into trifecta and first four plays.

Tips and race-by-race guide for Tamworth on Friday

Selections based on a soft track. Race 1 1. Airwaves is having his first start. He's had three trials in Victoria and resumes from a break here for a new stable. He's well bred and looks set to make his debut with a bold showing. 6. Kitsune Vixen is a filly on debut, and she has had two trials in preparation. She won the latest of them at Wyong by a narrow margin and jockey Jenny Duggan sticks here. 7. Skyza is another filly on debut, and she has also had two trials. She finished fourth in her second trial at Wyong. 3. It Stays In Vegas ran well enough when a last-start third at Scone, although safely held by the winner. How to play it: Airwaves to win. Race 2 1. Hellwithasmile makes his debut here on the back of two trials, and he won the latest of them at Scone. Aaron Bullock takes the ride here and he is primed for a bold showing. 6. Rubilicious resumed with a fourth at this track when leading and has claims, while 7. See You Then has finished second in both starts either side of a spell and warrants respect. 8. Sorutal is a filly having her first start and was down the track in her only trial at this track. How to play it: Hellwithasmile to win. Race 3 1. Occult is having his first start for a new stable in this. He resumes on the back of two trials with a close-up second at Gunnedah being followed by an easy win at this track in a small field. He looks set to break through here. 3. He'sthechief won a Gunnedah trial before hitting the line well for a last-start third at Dubbo. 6. Qui Rouge has finished second in her past two starts and can figure again, while 7. Dartbrook has been racing well and can get into the placings again. How to play it: Occult to win. Race 4 8. Spandex was resuming from a spell when hitting the line well enough for a third at Port Macquarie. That was on the back of two trials, and the step up to 1400m here second up looks ideal. 4. Ghaznavi was midfield at Scone when last produced and has had a trial to be kept up to the mark for this. 2. Currumbin Alley ran a good second on debut at Gunnedah and then was a shade disappointing when midfield at Dubbo. 6. Preordain has been placed in five of 12 starts and is a minor money chance. How to play it: Spandex to win.

Scone preview: It Stays In Vegas can kickstart another big day for Scott Singleton

Don't miss out on the headlines from Horse Racing. Followed categories will be added to My News. Local trainer Scott Singleton will again be a force at Scone's first meeting since their annual Cup day/stand-alone carnival where he posted his 400th career win and won the Group 3 Dark Jewel Classic. Singleton is represented by three of his string on Tuesday starting with the lightly-raced three-year-old It Stays In Vegas who tackles the Arrowfield Country Boosted Maiden Plate (1000m). The son of one-time Arrowfield resident stallion Shalaa resumed in the coveted Red Crown at Muswellbrook on June 1 but proved no match for the long odds-on winner, Raging Force. • PUNT LIKE A PRO: Become a Racenet iQ member and get expert tips – with fully transparent return on investment statistics – from Racenet's team of professional punters at our Pro Tips section. SUBSCRIBE NOW! 'I was happy enough for him to run second to that horse there but I was disappointed that he couldn't,'' Singleton said. 'I thought he was just a little bit plain but admittedly, he was first-up and he had to sit outside the leader. 'And it was a funny track that day, it was really gluey and a lot of horses didn't like it so I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that those couple of things might have played against him. 'I think he is a better horse than he went the other day so I am wanting to see him bounce back and do something there on Tuesday.' It Stays In Vegas is a third generation Australian thoroughbred but does indeed have some American blood and via the likes of two epic stallions, one of them an immortal. His third dam was a daughter of Seeking The Gold while her fourth was by Seattle Slew, who this week 48 years ago, completed the US Triple Crown by winning the Belmont Stakes. Singleton, meanwhile, has the honour and distinction of saddling up one of the shortest-priced favourites racing at Scone on Tuesday in Ritzsun ($1.85) in the third race on the eight-event program. Ritzsun has been a model of consistency throughout his nine starts, winning twice (both of them at Scone) together with four placings, three of them seconds. The son of Rosebud winner Sebring Sun's most recent performance was a brave and determined on-pace second in the 1200m TAB Highway conducted at Gosford on the Gold Cup and The Coast day. His Tuesday assignment is the Scone CWA Centenary Benchmark 82 Handicap (1000m). 'Up in grade but down in weight,'' Singleton said. 'He's in an 82 there but he is only carrying 55(kg) so from a good draw and the way he has been working, I would be expecting him to win to be honest.' Ritzsun has already contested three Highways inside his nine starts and win, lose or draw on Tuesday, there will be a fourth somewhere down the road. 'That would be the plan,'' Singleton said. 'He has only won the two (races) so he can win again and still go to a Highway. 'He is definitely good enough to win a Highway if all the stars align.' Singleton is naturally eager for the well-bred mare Insightful Award to post her fourth win in the Darley Country Boosted Benchmark 58 Handicap (1300m) having placed at two of her last three 'away' runs. 'I am hoping that given when she won at Scone earlier in the prep, she bolted in, and that was down to the home-track and she can repeat that because it sort of came from nowhere,'' Singleton said. 'But she has remained in good order. 'She a little bit keen the other day at Warren but she certainly seems in good shape and she'll run well.'
