Arunachal min hails household tap water connection under JJM
1 2 3 4 5 6 Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh public health engineering & water supply (PHE & WS) minister Mama Natung on Wednesday lauded the department for achieving a landmark milestone by making Arunachal the first state in the northeast to achieve 100% household tap water connection under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). Addressing the inaugural state-level coordination meeting of the department at Ato Ringso Hall in Lumdung, East Kameng district, he urged departmental officers to maintain the momentum and give focused attention to all centrally sponsored schemes, which are closely monitored by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). Arunachal recently became the 10th in the country and the first in the northeast to reach 100% saturation under the Centre's flagship programme. The feat was made possible through a combined funding of Rs 3,965.41 crore from the Centre and Rs 455.51 crore from the state govt. Describing the milestone as a "vital public service success", Natung congratulated officers for their dedication in ensuring water access to even the most remote households. He also stressed the need to enhance implementation efficiency in sewage and sanitation systems under various schemes, including Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM).
