Dhruvi Acharya's landmark solo exhibition at Hampi Art Labs

The Journey is Home, a significant solo exhibition by acclaimed contemporary artist Dhruvi Acharya, which began on June 1, at Hampi Art Labs in Toranagallu, Ballari district, will be on display till September 30th, 2025. The JSW Foundation, the social development arm of the $24 billion JSW Group and host of the exhibition, stated that The Journey is Home, curated by noted art critic Girish Shahane, features an expansive collection of Dhruvi Acharya's works, ranging from her early creations to more recent pieces. It delves into a deeply personal exploration of identity, motherhood, environmental awareness, grief, and the complexities of urban life. Dhruvi Acharya's art, rooted in autobiography, often connects with larger, universal subjects. The exhibition's title is inspired by a poem by the Japanese author and Zen practitioner Matsuo Basho, reflecting Dhruvi Acharya's early interest in Buddhist philosophy. Her work is known to explore the psychological and emotional musings of a woman. The exhibition also features key works from the JSW collection. Sangita Jindal, chairperson of the JSW Foundation, expressed her enthusiasm for the show. 'I see hope and resilience in Dhruvi Acharya's layered works, which often reflect the psychological and emotional musings of a woman. I am delighted that Hampi Art Labs is hosting a solo show by Dhruvi, an artist I have long admired.' Describing the exhibition as a mid-career survey, Dhruvi Acharya said, 'The show includes work from various stages of my journey, including those commissioned or acquired by Sangita Jindal over the last 25 years. These pieces reflect my investigations into memory, love, loss, motherhood, the status of women in society, and the deteriorating environment. I am grateful to Hampi Art Labs and JSW Foundation for providing a space where these stories can breathe and resonate.' Located near the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hampi, Hampi Art Labs spans nine acres and serves as a cultural retreat offering studio spaces, galleries, artist residencies, and educational programmes. Rooted in the region's rich artistic and architectural heritage, the centre is a vital cultural initiative of the JSW Foundation. The Journey is Home is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., from Monday to Friday, offering visitors a unique opportunity to engage with one of India's most thoughtful and introspective contemporary artists in an inspiring setting.

Windsor Pro propels MG to post 40% sales growth in May

MG Windsor Pro has played a key role in the sales growth of the automaker. MG Windsor Pro has played a key role in the sales growth of the automaker. Check Offers JSW MG Motor India, the joint venture of JSW Group and SAIC Motor, on Sunday reported a 40 per cent year-on-year (YoY) growth in sales of its passenger vehicles. The auto company has retailed 6,304 units of passenger vehicles in May 2025, as compared to 4,510 units registered in May 2024. This sales growth comes on the back of the launch of Windsor Pro, which was introduced as a long-range version of the MG Windsor EV. Since the launch of the Windsor EV, MG has claimed a significant sales uptick and attributed this surge to the upmarket electric car, which was launched with a plethora of features and most interestingly, with the choice of battery-as-a-subscription (BaaS) for the consumers. While the traditional vehicle buying model is still there, the availability of the BaaS has ramped up the appeal of the EV significantly to consumers. The car manufacturer took the same strategy for the MG Windsor Pro as well. The MG Windsor Pro was launched in two variant choices - Essence Pro and Exclusive Pro. The MG Windsor Pro comes powered by a 52.9 kWh battery pack, which enables the electric car to run up to 449 kilometres on a single charge. The MG Windsor, on the other hand, gets energy from a 38 kWh battery pack that allows it to run up to a 332 kilometres range on a full charge. However, despite the Windsor and Windsor Pro being powered by two different battery packs, power and torque output remain the same at 134 bhp and 200 Nm, respectively. MG Windsor Pro: What it offers? The MG Windsor Pro comes with a host of additional features that are not available in the regular Windsor. The Pro variant of the EV gets features such as a powered tailgate, vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging features. There is an ADAS suite that offers adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and much more. The MG Windsor EV Essence Pro costs ₹ 13.09 lakh (ex-showroom) with the BaaS model opted. Without the battery subscription plan, the MG Windsor EV Pro costs ₹ 18.10 lakh (ex-showroom). The MG Windsor Exclusive Pro variant, however, misses features like a sunroof, ventilated front seats, a PM2.5 air filter, as well as an ADAS suite. These features are available in the top-end Exclusive Pro trim. The MG Windsor EV Pro exclusive variant costs ₹ 17.25 lakh (ex-showroom). The Windsor EV Pro exclusive variant costs ₹ 12.24 lakh (ex-showroom) with the BaaS program opted. Steel project works in Kadapa to start in 10 days: Naidu

Kadapa: In a major boost to the development of long-neglected Rayalaseema region, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu He announced that construction works of the much-awaited Kadapa Steel Plant will officially commence within the next 10 days. Making the announcement at Mahanadu in Kadapa on Wednesday, he said this project alone will generate employment for over 3,000 people. This Rs 4,500 crore mega project, with a steel production capacity of 3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), is expected to transform the industrial landscape of Rayalaseema region. Terming it a vital step towards equitable growth, CM Naidu reiterated his government's clear policy of decentralization and balanced regional development. He further added, 'Large-scale industries must be established in Rayalaseema to ensure balanced growth.' It is pertinent to note that the steel plant, to be developed by the JSW Group led by industrialist Sajjan Jindal, had been stalled earlier. Meanwhile, the CM has categorically dismissed media reports and political allegations indicating that he sought relocation of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) facility from Karnataka to Andhra Pradesh. He clarified that his appeal to the Centre was solely focused on establishing a defence manufacturing hub in the State, not on shifting existing institutions from other States. He emphasized that Lepakshi in Anantapur district is highly suitable for setting up aircraft manufacturing and defence-related industries. 'I had earlier highlighted Lepakshi's potential, but unfortunately, some politicians in Karnataka misunderstood this as an attempt to shift HAL to Andhra Pradesh,' he explained.

China's FDI proposals face stricter scrutiny in India amid tensions with Pakistan

New Delhi: The government plans to conduct more stringent reviews of some major investment proposals from Chinese companies to invest in India, which could delay the go-ahead for these ventures, according to an NDTV Profit report. The decision comes in the backdrop of China's support to Pakistan in the wake of the terrorist killings in Pahalgam and 'Operation Sindoor' that followed. China has been extending diplomatic support to Pakistan, in coordination with Turkey and Bangladesh, apart from providing military hardware that has been used against India. The government is expected to intensify its scrutiny of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) proposals and joint ventures backed by Chinese firms. Several new joint ventures may be proposed as a workaround to existing restrictions, but pending proposals and ongoing negotiations could also face delays, the NDTV Profit report said citing people familiar with the matter. Some Indian companies are in talks with Chinese firms for joint ventures in the electronics component manufacturing segment under the government's Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. These projects are likely to be delayed. Among the major Chinese companies, home appliances giant Haier is exploring a joint venture (JV) with the JSW Group, an Indian conglomerate, for a potential investment of Rs 1,000 crore. The proposal is under the consideration of the government. At the UN Security Council committee #1267 on counter-terrorism, China blocked any mention of The Resistance Force, an arm of the Lashkar-e-Tayiba terror group, that initially took responsibility for the Pahalgam attacks on April 22. China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi had sought an 'investigation' into the attacks as part of Pakistan's damage-control move to whitewash its role in cross-border terrorism. India had previously imposed curbs on FDI from China in April 2020 and subjected these proposals to a government scrutiny on a case-by-case basis before approval. Companies such as Chinese telecom equipment manufacturers Huawei and ZTE were excluded from the 5G rollout in the Indian telecom sector on grounds of national security. India telcos were advised by the government to go only for "trusted source" equipment for the expansion of their networks.
