Auburn QB target headed to Elite 11 finals

Auburn QB target headed to Elite 11 finals Landon Duckworth will compete in the prestigious event this summer in California. One of the top targets on Auburn's 2026 recruiting board will compete in a prestigious event this summer. Landon Duckworth, a four-star quarterback from Jackson High School in Jackson, Alabama, received an invite this week to the Elite 11 Finals, which will be held in Los Angeles, California, June 17-19. Duckworth was one of 20 quarterbacks from the 2026 cycle to receive and accept an invite to the event, joining Texas commit Dia Bell, USC commit Jonas Williams, and Florida commit Will Griffin. Duckworth is the nation's No. 6 quarterback by 247Sports thanks to a healthy mix of size and dual-threat ability. The 6-3, 190-pound quarterback passed for 3,439 yards and 39 touchdowns for the Jackson Aggies last season, and added 648 yards and 12 scores on the ground. In the AHSAA Class 4A state championship game, Duckworth threw for 330 yards and five touchdowns. After missing out on three-star quarterback Travis Burgess, who will also compete in the Elite 11 Finals, to North Carolina earlier this week, Auburn has made Duckworth the highest priority in its quest for a quarterback from the 2026 cycle. Duckworth visited Auburn last weekend and will stop by Florida State, Georgia, and South Carolina before making his way to California for the Elite 11, and will end his tour on June 20 at Ole Miss. Auburn will aim to keep Duckworth in state this cycle, but will have to fight off favorite Ole Miss to land him before signing day. ‘Continuous improvement:' Jackson's new superintendent on new role

JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) — The Jackson Public Schools school board approved the hiring of Superintendent of Secondary Curriculum Jeremy Patterson as the district's next superintendent in a 6-1 vote last week. 'I absolutely love it here. I think this community is a reflection of myself, having been a lifelong Jacksonian,' says Patterson. 'So this is personal, as far as professional.' The Jackson native says he has several goals and a plan to promote student development. 'We have great programs, we have great people, and we just look to continue to engage our community to make sure we're servicing our students and our families,' says Patterson. On June 1, Patterson, who graduated from Jackson High School in 1993, will replace current superintendent Jeff Beal after 11 years in Jackson Public Schools. 'My vision is continuous improvement,' says Patterson. 'You know, we always strive to do better each and every day. And so there's areas where we're being excellent, and there's goal setting, so we have a robust plan.' Patterson says the focus remains on the students and equipping them with everything they need for the next stage of life. 'It happens with the dedication. It happens with the communication and the clear vision, and focusing on the needs of our students is the top priority,' says Patterson. 'They're the ones that we're serving, and we want them to be great moving into if it's college or career readiness, that they're well prepared by Jackson Public Schools.' On May 6, the Jackson School Board signed off on a $126 million bond plan that Patterson says will address critical infrastructure needs for staff and students. 'Just programs that are going to attract the top educators in the state, as well as provide opportunities that students, again, if they want to go into trade programs, then we have opportunities to get those hands-on learning opportunities in addition to the advanced curriculum we already have in place.' Patterson says his understanding of the community will help him succeed in the role. 'I think it all begins with trust, and having 27 years of experience with education, that helps,' says Patterson. 'And being of a community that I'm highly visible in, and they know that I listen and take those things into consideration.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Auburn to host top ten QB Landon Duckworth for official visit

Auburn to host top ten QB Landon Duckworth for official visit Landon Duckworth led the Jackson Aggies to the AHSAA Class 4A state title last season A recruit that could top Auburn's 2026 recruiting class has locked in a summer visit. Landon Duckworth, a four-star QB from Jackson High School (Alabama), has revealed his upcoming official visit schedule, which includes Auburn. He will visit the Plains on May 16, followed by Georgia (May 30), South Carolina (June 6), Florida State (June 13), and Ole Miss (June 20). For most of his recruitment, Duckworth's interest has been out-of-state. The one-time South Carolina commit has been courted heavily by Georgia and Ole Miss in recent months, but Auburn is the lone in-state program to lock in an official visit with Duckworth. The Jackson High School signal caller led the Aggies' high-octane offense by passing for 3,439 yards and 31 touchdowns last season, and was second in rushing with 648 yards and 12 additional scores. Duckworth recorded at least 100 total yards in every game for Jackson last season, and gained at least 200 yards in 10 of 15 games. He gained 579 yards in Jackson's win over Mobile Christian in September and gained 347 yards in the Aggies' state championship win over Cherokee County. Duckworth is not the only Jackson High product that Auburn has its eyes on. Jackson running back Ezavier Crowell has Auburn in his top schools, and is slated to announce his commitment in the near future.
