Chelsea unwilling to match Jadon Sancho salary

Chelsea remain undecided on whether to sign Jadon Sancho on a permanent deal with negotiations ongoing. Sancho joined Chelsea on loan from Manchester United last summer with the obligation to make the move permanent for a fee of £25. The West Londoners hold an option to cancel the transfer, if a compensation fee of £5m is paid to Manchester United. Sancho has scored five goals and provided 10 assists in all competitions for Chelsea this season. He netted a brilliant goal in Chelsea's comeback win over Real Betis on Thursday, as the Blues won the Europa Conference League. Advertisement Fabrizio Romano has revealed that talks are ongoing between Chelsea and Sancho's representatives to gauge the cost of a deal. The player's salary demands are being discussed, with Chelsea unwilling to match Sancho's salary at Manchester United. A decision on whether to pursue a permanent deal is expected in the coming days. Following Chelsea's win in the Conference League final, head coach Enzo Maresca told TNT Sports that he was keen to decide on Sancho's future. He said the winger's inconsistency was 'normal' throughout a campaign. 'From now on we are going to sit with the club and decide what happens for next year,' the Italian said. 'If we finish fourth it is also because of Jadon, if we win tonight it is also because of Jadon. It is normal in a season to go a little bit up and down, it is part of the game.' Chelsea issue ultimatum to Jadon Sancho over £25m transfer from Man Utd

Chelsea are ready to sign Jadon Sancho on a permanent transfer from Manchester United but only if he takes a significant pay-cut. The Blues have been weighing up whether or not to sign Sancho permanently following his mixed loan spell at Stamford Bridge. Sancho struggled for consistency following his arrival from Old Trafford but did help Chelsea qualify for the Champions League and win the Europa Conference League. When Chelsea signed Sancho on loan, they agreed to make the deal permanent at the end of the season for between £20-25m. However, it emerged earlier in the season that Chelsea were able to get out of the deal by paying Manchester United £5m in compensation. Sky Sports say Chelsea have opened talks with Sancho's representatives and hope to keep him at the club. With a return to Manchester United seemingly off the table, Sancho is keen to sign a permanent deal with Chelsea, the club he supported growing up. But talkSPORT say Chelsea have informed Sancho he will need to take a pay-cut if he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge and agree a deal which fits in with the wage structure at the club. Sancho is believed to be on around £300,000-a-week and a compromise will need to be reached as Chelsea's policy has been to sign players on long, incentivised contracts with lower base wages. Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca gave little away when asked about Sancho's future following the Conference League victory over Real Betis. 'We are going to sit with the club and decide what happens for next year,' Maresca said. 'If we finish fourth it is also because of Jadon, if we win tonight it is also because of Jadon. It is normal in a season to go a little bit up and down.' As has often been the case this season, Sancho started on Chelsea's bench against Betis but made a telling contribution following his introduction, curling home his side's third goal in a 4-1 win. 'I think Jadon is a really great player and I think he's done well,' Cole said. 'He's been rotated in and out a bit but I want to see Jadon playing. You want a player like that in your squad. It will come down to a financial decision I imagine but I really like him.' More Trending Asked whether he thought Sancho had done enough to earn a permanent move to Chelsea, Cole added: 'Yes I do. 'This is a kid who went to Dortmund and was a superstar as a kid. It wasn't working at Man United but he's done well, he's got his career back on track at Chelsea. 'I think there's more to come from him as well.' Sancho scored 12 goals in 83 appearances for Manchester United following a big-money move from Borussia Dortmund in 2021. Chelsea sent £25m transfer demand immediately after Conference League triumph

Chelsea have a lot of decisions to make when it comes the the make-up of their squad particularly over Jadon Sancho's future with his loan from Manchester United set to expire next month Chelsea have been told to push through a deal for Jadon Sancho after their Conference League success. The Blues lifted the title on Wednesday evening as they overcame Spanish side Real Betis 4-1. Sancho, 25, came off the bench to score in Chelsea 's victory. It was his second European goal this term, the on-loan Manchester United man also providing five assists in Conference League action. ‌ Chelsea now face a decision over his future. As it stands, they are set to pay £25m to sign him permanently from United, albeit they can pay a £5m penalty fee to back out of that deal. Ex-Chelsea star Joe Cole has given his verdict and claimed that Sancho should be kept at Stamford Bridge. ‌ Speaking on TNT Sports, he said: 'I think Jadon is a really great player and I think he's done well. He's been rotated in and out a bit but I want to see Jadon playing. You want a player like that in your squad. It will come down to a financial decision I imagine but I really like him.' In all, Sancho has scored five goals and provided ten assists across the campaign for Chelsea. Asked if the winger had contributed enough to earn a permanent move, Cole replied: 'Yes I do. 'This is a kid who went to Dortmund and was a superstar as a kid. It wasn't working at Man United but he's done well, he's got his career back on track at Chelsea. I think there's more to come from him as well.' ‌ Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has already given a clue into Sancho's long-term future. The Italian suggested that there is still a decision set to be made when it comes to him, and a whole host of other players. He said: 'I don't know. I said that when in the last weeks you asked me about different players, I always said the same. And the reason why is because it's the truth. ‌ 'It's not the moment we have tomorrow, final. Then in 24 hours, 48 hours, we're going to start to talk about the future. But at this moment, there is not any thought or any decision made on Jadon or any different players.' Sancho appears unlikely to have a future at Man United should Ruben Amorim remain at the club. He still has just over a year remaining on his contract at Old Trafford.

Joe Cole sends message to Chelsea over Jadon Sancho transfer from Man Utd

Joe Cole wants Chelsea to sign Jadon Sancho on a permanent transfer from Manchester United and insists he has 'done well' during his loan spell at Stamford Bridge. Sancho's 83rd-minute curler all but put the Conference League final to bed as Chelsea came from behind to beat Real Betis 4-1. Betis deservedly led at half-time through Abde Ezzalzouli's early opener but Chelsea turned things around during an impressive second-half display. Enzo Fernandez equalised on 65 minutes and Nicolas Jackson put Chelsea ahead five minutes later. Late goals from Sancho and Moises Caicedo ended any prospect of a Real Betis comeback as Chelsea, as expected, proved too strong in the inferior Conference League. Having started on the bench, Sancho made a key contribution following his second-half substitution, potentially boosting his chances of earning a permanent move to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea agreed to sign Sancho permanently for around £25m when they signed him on loan from Manchester United last summer. However, they are unable to cancel the agreement by paying their Premier League rivals £5m in compensation and reports suggest that remains a possibility following Sancho's mixed spell in west London. Asked about Sancho's future at Chelsea before the Europa Conference League final, Cole said: 'I think Jadon is a really great player and I think he's done well. 'He's been rotated in and out a bit but I want to see Jadon playing. You want a player like that in your squad. It will come down to a financial decision I imagine but I really like him.' Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Enzo Maresca said discussions would be held around Sancho's future in the days following the final. Asked if the Real Betis game could be Sancho's last game for Chelsea, Maresca said: 'I don't know.
