Macaulay Tait tells Hearts boss Derek McInnes he's ready to roar after showing his teeth for Livingston

The Jambos youngster made the most of his loan spell in West Lothian and is determined to come back with a bang Macaulay Tait has told Derek McInnes he's ready to fight for a place in his new look Hearts side after coming of age at Livingston. The Jambos kid is heading back to Tynecastle for pre-season after a superb six month loan stint with the Lions – where he helped fire David Martindale's men to promotion to the Premiership after lifting the Challenge Cup. ‌ The 19-year-old was a smash hit in West Lothian and he's convinced the spell can boost his chances of being part of the new manager's plans. ‌ Tait said: 'Coming here has been brilliant for me, it's been a great experience. 'I've won promotion and won a cup final, so it's been amazing and I've loved it. 'I feel a much better player now, I feel like a more Scottish midfielder able to deal with the physicality of the game. ‌ 'That was one of the big things I had to improve in my game and I feel I'm much better on the ball now. 'The last five months have been massive for my development and I'll go back to Hearts looking to challenge for a place there. 'Obviously we have a new manager so I'll have to show him I can provide something for the team. ‌ 'I'm looking forward to it. Derek McInnes ' record speaks for itself given what he's achieved at other clubs so it's exciting times there. 'I will enjoy this for a few days, have a few weeks off and then get back into it for pre-season there.' ‌ Tait is still on a high after Livi's dramatic play-off success – with Martindale's heroes coming from two down to triumph over Ross County in the second leg showdown in Dingwall. He said: 'We made it hard for ourselves but we always had the belief. 'That's what happens when you've been playing well all season. ‌ 'We did well last Thursday and after going 2-0 down in Dingwall we really turned up. 'It's fine margins in the Premiership, County punished us for two slack moments but we were able to show our quality after that. 'There's a really good squad here, I hope the gaffer is able to keep it together because they can make an impact.'\ ‌ You can get all the news you need on our dedicated Rangers and Celtic pages, and sign up to our newsletters to make sure you never miss a beat throughout the season. 13 former Hearts players set for free agency as things stand

Oisin McEntee has signed for the club after time at Walsall, the latest piece of recruitment work done ahead of next season. Christian Borchgrevink and Alexandros Kyziridis have also arrived on top of Elton Kabangu's loan being made permanent ahead of competitive action beginning next month. It won't just be Hearts on the prowl for moves though. There are former players of the club who could also be in search of fresh clubs this summer as free agents with terms ticking down. Looking at players who have contracts expiring in June - with some in talks over extensions - here are some of the ex Jambos who could become available as it stands should nothing be agreed with their current sides.

Oisin McEntee says Hearts are getting a battling midfielder ready to give his all after signing a pre contract to join the club. The Irishman will join the Jambos for the start of pre season after spending time at Walsall, who narrowly missed out on promotion to League One in EFL via the play-offs. A product of the Newcastle United academy and previously in Scottish football on loan at Greenock Morton, McEntee had 79 appearances for The Saddlers across three seasons. Speaking to Hearts TV, he says that's the club massive history known all over the UK and Ireland is something that attracted him to Gorgie. Oisin McEntee on move to Hearts He said: 'Listen, it's amazing. It's really exciting to be here and starting a new chapter with a brilliant, massive football club. It has a big history and everyone knows it in Ireland, in England, in Scotland. So it definitely pulled me towards it. They said they have a plan for me and they want me in as a midfielder and that they've done the research on me. 'And I'm just excited to be a part of the plan. Everything so far has been amazing, so I'm really looking forward to it. I think you can expect a hard worker that's going to win battles and put himself about and then tidy on the ball. ' Reasons for Walsall transfer exit McEntee has also discussed his loan at Morton and decision to leave Walsall. He added: ' 'It was my first taste of first-team football and going into a changing room full of men, it definitely taught me a lot. I feel I took to it well and I really enjoyed my time up at Greenock. I loved my time at Walsall. That was my first, first-team club, being a permanent transfer there. It was a brilliant group of boys, just brilliant people in that club and it's ran properly. It will be sad to leave, but it's just onto another chapter of my career now, which I'm excited for.' We would like to wish Oisin and his family the best of luck in his new challenge and we thank him for his efforts and professionalism during his time at the club.'

Derek McInnes names the Hearts star he's admired from afar as Hibs fired firm derby warning

Neil Critchely failed to get one over the Hibees with the Jambos winning just once in the last eight capital showdowns Derek McInnes wants Hearts to be capital top dogs again and rip up the woeful recent derby record against Hibs. Former boss Neil Critchley failed to get one over the city rivals in three attempts last term – and the Jambos have won just once in the last eight showdowns. ‌ And, as a point of principle, new manager McInnes is determined to put the record straight. ‌ He said: 'The derby is obviously an attraction for any Hearts manager, the atmosphere and the whole intensity. "I'm looking forward to all the games, but the derbies are massive, I've attended loads over the years. 'And you get it, you know how important it is, and I also know how important it is for a manager to win these games as well. ‌ 'I'm looking forward to getting started and playing any team, but the Hibs games have got a bit more on it. "For the players, myself and the supporters, it's the games that we'll probably look for first when the fixtures come out.' McInnes has already got to work with deals agreed with midfielder Christian Borchgrevink, winger Alexandros Kyziridis and striker Elton Kabangu. ‌ The Jambos are also poised to sign Walsall midfielder Oisin McEntee. But the 53-year-old is looking forward to working with James Wilson, after the teenage striker's displays caught his eye when he was Killie boss. ‌ The new gaffer said: 'He's one of a few from the academy products that have come through. Credit to Naisy and Neil who played him. 'I remember a closed-door game against Naisy's team at Rugby Park a while back, the boy came on and I liked him right away. 'He's proven he's a good footballer and knows his way to goal. One of the boys who has a lot to offer.' ‌ You can get all the news you need on our dedicated Rangers and Celtic pages, and sign up to our newsletters to make sure you never miss a beat throughout the season.
