Jamie Lee Curtis on Reuniting with Lindsay Lohan for ‘Freakier Friday,' Her ‘The Bear' Emmy Nom and Stephen Colbert's ‘Late Show' Cancellation: ‘It's Awful'

Jamie Lee Curtis says she's learned a lot from Lindsay Lohan since reuniting for 'Freakier Friday,' the much buzzed-about sequel to 2003's 'Freaky Friday.' 'She has taught me so much,' Curtis told Variety's Marc Malkin on Thursday at the Las Culturistas Culture Awards at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. 'She has her team, where her two people would be standing on either side of a camera holding a big light. It's Lindsay lighting — that would have been good branding — they hold lights so that we look better. So, I've learned a lot from her already. We had a good time. We love each other.' More from Variety Comic-Con: 'Wicked' Star Marissa Bode to Judge Her Universe Fashion Show (EXCLUSIVE) Tony Morrison Departs GLAAD, Launches Media Company (EXCLUSIVE) 'American Love Story' Star Sarah Pidgeon on Carolyn Bessette Hair and Fashion Backlash: 'I Understand How Beloved She Is' The original movie, based on Mary Rodgers' 1972 novel of the same name, follows mother-daughter duo Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) switching bodies. The new story features a 'multigenerational twist' that features Anna as a mom. 'It's a movie for today,' Curtis said of the second installment. 'It is a happy, nostalgic, funny, sweet, heartfelt, Disney movie right at the end of the summer. There haven't been a lot of movies for women, and this is a love letter to every mother, grandma, sister, cousin and daughter.' Curtis and Lohan will be joined by returning cast members Chad Michael Murray, Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao. Additionally, 'The Acolyte' star Manny Jacinto, 'Never Have I Ever' breakout Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Sophia Hammons and Julia Butters will also appear in the sequel. Andrew Gunn, who produced the first movie, is producing the sequel alongside former Disney executive Kristin Burr, with a script from 'Dollface' creator Jordan Weiss. Nisha Ganatra directs the film. Curtis, Nathan Kelly, Ann Marie Sanderlin and Lohan also serve as executive producers. 'Freakier Friday' is in theaters Aug. 8. Curtis also talked about her recent and second Emmy nomination for her work as Donna on 'The Bear' following her win last year. 'I can't believe it,' Curtis said, adding, 'It's just beautiful. It's a beautiful show and I'm thrilled to be a part of it. I love it. I'm a fan of the show. I was a fan from the beginning and so I just love the stories they tell and the characters they create.' As for the possibility of a Donna spinoff, Curtis insisted, 'Never, never.' Just hours before the Las Culturistas Culture Awards carpet, it was announced that Stephen Colbert's 'The Late Show' show was being cancelled. 'It's bad,' Curtis offered. 'I'm excited that I will get to be on his show in about two weeks. I've never been on his show. I really like him. He's smart and funny and a lovely human. It's awful.' The Las Culturistas Culture Awards air Aug. 5 on Bravo and next day on Peacock. See more photos from the awards below. The Simple Reason Jamie Lee Curtis Did Those Activia Commercials

The Simple Reason Jamie Lee Curtis Did Those Activia Commercials originally appeared on Parade. is celebrated for her incredible acting talent, but some may know her from the memorable series of Activia commercials throughout the early 2000s. In a candid conversation at Amazon Port during Cannes Lions 2025, Curtis, 66, explained that she didn't initially see herself becoming the face of Dannon's Activia brand, known for its probiotic benefits — and well, for the 'yogurt that makes you s**t,' as Curtis put it. Her decision, however, had everything to do with her desire to stay close to her first child, Annie: 'I was trying to stay home with my kid.' 'I sold yogurt that makes you s**t for six years and I won an Oscar,' the actress bluntly said, noting that today, being in ads while maintaining a flourishing acting career is not only acceptable but expected. 'I believe that that crossover has now happened. We can advertise and pretend simultaneously. There has been a paradigm shift in the way we as consumers take on our content and there is no stigma anymore,' the Freaky Friday star said. 🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬 Despite her commercial success, Curtis is passionate about authenticity. 'There is a problem today and the cosmeceutical industry is disfiguring entire generations of beautiful young women who need nothing except some sunblock,' she stated. Curtis also admitted that she never intended to be an actor. 'I got 840 combined on my SATs. I was gonna be a cop. Honestly I thought I was gonna be a police officer,' she revealed. Her career started with a chance encounter that led her to the Nancy Drew audition, and though she didn't land the role, she eventually found her footing in Hollywood and beyond—like those yogurt commercials. A Wild ‘Freaky Friday' Reunion Just Happened at Disneyland

A Wild 'Freaky Friday' Reunion Just Happened at Disneyland originally appeared on Parade. Jamie Lee Curtis is always ready to rock — especially when it comes to celebrating her iconic role in Freaky Friday and it's upcoming sequel. As excitement builds for Freakier Friday, Curtis, Chad Michael Murray, and other cast members brought the energy to Disneyland on Tuesday, July 15, as they danced along to a performance of Pink Slips' 'Take Me Away," the super catchy garage band song from the 2003 film. In that film, Lindsay Lohan's character (and Tess' daughter, Anna) fronts a garage band, and the band's lead vocalist, Christina Vidal, who played Anna's bandmate in the movie, was on hand to perform the song once again. In a video circulating on Instagram, Curtis stole the show from the audience in a hot pink suit, front row, channeling her character Tess. The actress was mouthing every word, even playing air guitar at one point. Murray was spotted next to Curtis bobbing his head along to the music, while co-star Manny Jacinto clapped his hands along to the beat. The sequel, Freakier Friday, is set to hit theaters on August 8, and fans can look forward to seeing the return of some fan favorites, including Vidal as Maddie and Haley Hudson as Peg. As the trailer teases, the new film will delve into the chaos of body swaps once again, but this time, Anna's daughter Harper (Julia Butters) and soon to be step-daughter's Lily (Sophia Hammons), trigger the body swap in an attempt to bring their soon-to-be blended family closer together. 🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬 While the fate of Pink Slip remains a mystery, this performance hints that the band may have found even more success by the time the new film picks up.
