Army Chief reviews operational preparedness in the Pargwal sector of Jammu
Jammu, May 31 (UNI) Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi on Saturday reviewed the operational preparedness and lauded the role of ex-servicemen in Operation Sindoor during his visit to the Pargwal sector of Jammu. Jammu-based Defence spokesman Lt Col Suneel Bartwal here said, "COAS General Upendra Dwivedi reviewed operational preparedness in J&K's Paragwal Sector and visited the Tiger Division where he commended troops for their outstanding performance in Operation Sindoor". He stressed the importance of staying agile and vigilant in response to evolving security dynamics. The Army Chief also praised BSF's close operational integration with the Indian Army and lauded the bravery of Assistant Commandant Neha Bhandari and her team for defending forward posts in the Akhnoor Sector. CoAS visits J&K's Sunderbani, reviews op readiness in region (Picture credit: ANI) JAMMU: Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Gen Upendra Dwivedi Friday visited forward areas and posts in J&K's Sunderbani sector to assess the operational readiness of the units and formations in the region. 'During the visit, the CoAS was briefed by Formation Commanders on the prevailing security scenario and the operational dynamics along the Line of Control , providing a comprehensive overview of the current strategic environment,' Jammu-based defence spokesperson Lt Col Suneel Bartwal said. Gen Dwivedi lauded the exemplary performance of the forces in Operation Sindoor and commended all ranks for their dedication. 'The CoAS emphasised the critical importance of remaining agile and responsive to the constantly evolving security landscape, reiterating the need for continuous vigilance, operational preparedness, and institutional resilience,' Lt Col Bartwal said. On Thursday, Gen Dwivedi had visited the White Knight Corps and assessed the operational readiness of the troops along the border, during which he was briefed by GOC White Knight Corps.

J&K: Army jawan martyred in Kishtwar gunfight, operation on
Jammu, May 22 (UNI) One army soldier was martyred in an ensuing gunfight in Chatroo area of Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu-based White Knight Corps in a post on X said, "During the ongoing operation, fierce gunfight is continuing. One of our Bravehearts sustained grievous injuries in the exchange of fire and has succumbed despite the best medical efforts." Operation is in progress; it has been further posted. Official sources earlier said that a gunfight broke out between terrorists, believed to be 3 to 4 in number, and a joint team of police and army in the Singhpura area of Chatroo. Contact was established with terrorists during a joint operation with J&K Police at Chhatru, in Kishtwar, in the morning, they said. They added that additional troops have been inducted, and operations are ongoing to neutralize the terrorists. UNI VBH BD

As per the regulatory filing, the board has cleared a resolution to raise the authorised capital from ₹120 crore to ₹160 crore, marking a significant step towards enhancing the company's financial flexibility. The proposed change will also involve an amendment to the company's Memorandum of Association (MoA) to replace the existing Clause V with the updated clause, subject to shareholder approval. 'Approved increase in authorised capital of the Company from ₹120,00,00,000 (Rupees One Hundred and Twenty Crores only), consisting of 120,00,00,000 equity shares of Re.1/- each, to ₹160,00,00,000 (Rupees One Hundred and Sixty Crores only), consisting of 160,00,00,000 equity shares of Re.1/- each, subject to members' approval,' the filing stated. Strategic Partnerships with NBFCs In a strategic move announced last year, Sarveshwar Foods entered into collaborations with select Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) to improve access to finance for farmers. The company is acting as a facilitator, linking farmers with NBFCs to support agricultural productivity and financial inclusion. Importantly, the financing arrangements are entirely between the NBFCs and the farmers, with no financial obligation or recourse to Sarveshwar Foods. Stock Market Update On the broader market front, Indian benchmark indices rebounded sharply on Wednesday following a heavy sell-off in the previous session. Investor sentiment was buoyed by strong buying in banking and blue-chip stocks, alongside positive cues from Asian markets. While BSE Sensex surged 835.2 points (1.02%) to 82,021.64, the NSE Nifty gained 262.3 points (1.06%) to reach 24,946.20. Army neutralises 42 unexploded Pak shells JAMMU: Indian Army, in close coordination with J&K police, successfully neutralised 42 unexploded Pakistani shells in the areas of Jhullas, Salotri, Dharati, and Salani in Poonch district on Sunday. These shells were part of a Pakistani barrage targeting civilian areas in Poonch following India's strikes on terrorist camps in Pakistan and PoK during Operation Sindoor . Jammu-based defence spokesperson Lt Col Suneel Bartwal said, 'These shells, remnants of recent cross-border shelling , posed a serious threat to the lives and safety of local residents. The operation was carried out with utmost precision, adhering to all standard safety protocols to eliminate any risk to civilian life or property.' On Saturday, Army's bomb disposal squads also destroyed an unexploded mortar shell in a controlled explosion near Regal border outpost in Samba district, in addition to neutralising several mortar shells in Akhnoor sector of Jammu.
