Country singer Jason Aldean hit with backlash for poking fun at tech CEO affair after his own cheating scandal

Jason Aldean faced criticism after mocking a tech CEO ensnared in a cheating scandal, when he himself faced public scrutiny over an admitted infidelity. It comes as the IT company CEO captured in a widely circulated video showing him embracing an employee at a Coldplay concert has resigned. Andy Byron resigned from his job as CEO of Cincinnati-based Astronomer Inc., according to a statement posted on LinkedIn by the company Saturday. 'Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met,' the company said in its post on LinkedIn. The move comes a day after the company said that Byron had been placed on leave and the board of directors had launched a formal investigation into the jumbotron incident, which went viral. A company spokesman later confirmed in a statement to AP that it was Byron and Astronomer chief people officer Kristin Cabot in the video. The short video clip shows Byron and Cabot as captured on the jumbotron at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, during a Coldplay concert on Wednesday. Lead singer Chris Martin asked the cameras to scan the crowd for his 'Jumbotron Song,' when he sings a few lines about the people the camera lands on. 'Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy,' he joked. Internet sleuths identified the man as the chief executive officer of a U.S.-based company and the woman as its chief people officer. Pete DeJoy, Astronomer's cofounder and chief product officer, has been tapped as interim CEO while the company conducts a search for Byron's successor. It's easy to miss, but most concert venues have signs informing the audience that they could be filmed during the event. Look for them on the walls when you arrive and around the bar areas or toilets. It's common practice especially when bands like to use performances for music videos or concert films. The venue in this case, Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, also has a privacy policy online which states: 'When you visit our location or attend or participate in an event at our location, we may capture your image, voice and/or likeness, including through the use of CCTV cameras and/or when we film or photograph you in a public location.' 'They probably would have got away with it if they hadn't reacted,' said Alison Taylor, a clinical associate professor at New York University's Stern School of Business. And by the time the alleged identities emerged on social media, it hit a classic nerve around 'leaders acting like the rules don't apply to them,' she added. Still, Taylor and others stress how quickly such a video can lead to an internet search to find the people involved — and note that it's important to remember that such 'doxing' isn't just reserved for famous people. Beyond someone simply spotting a familiar face and spreading the word, technological advances, such as the rising adoption of artificial intelligence, have made it easier and faster overall to find just about anyone in a viral video today. 'It's a little bit unsettling how easily we can be identified with biometrics, how our faces are online, how social media can track us — and how the internet has gone from being a place of interaction, to a gigantic surveillance system,' said Mary Angela Bock, an associate professor in the University of Texas at Austin's School of Journalism and Media. 'When you think about it, we are being surveilled by our social media. They're tracking us in exchange for entertaining us.'

Jason Aldean's wife provides update on son Memphis after ‘long night in the ER'

Jason Aldean's son has a good sense of humor — even in an emergency room. The 48-year-old country music star shares two children — son Memphis, 7, and daughter Navy, 6, with his wife Brittany Aldean, whom he has been married to since March 2015, according to People. On July 16, Brittany Aldean shared an update on Memphis following his recent visit to the ER. 'Memphis is doing great. Thanks to all those checking in' she wrote in an Instagram Story over a photo of Memphis wearing a sling around his left arm. The update comes one day after Brittany Aldean revealed that Memphis broke his collarbone. 'It was a long night in the ER, but Memphis is ok. He fractured his collarbone and will be in a sling for a couple of weeks,' she wrote in an Instagram Story on July 15, per Taste of Country. 'Just rest and extra lovin', he'll be healed before we know it,' she added. Brittany Aldean later shared a video of her and her husband comforting their son as he was lying down in a hospital bed. 'How [are] you feeling, buddy? Do you feel better? I hope it's not broken, but I think maybe you're probably gonna have to get a little sling,' Jason Aldean said to his son, according to Parade. He then jokes that his son should tell his friends that he was wrestling alligators when the injury happened. According to Taste of Country, Memphis joked back and started to wonder how many alligators he could take on if he was healthy. Jason Aldean also playfully suggested his son tell his friends that he was getting jumped before beating everyone up. 'I'm not going to tell them that. They're definitely not going to believe me,' he replied, per Parade. Jason Aldean sparked controversy in 2012 when he was spotted 'getting cozy' with his future wife at a bar while he was still married to his then-wife Jessica Ussery, according to Us Weekly. The former couple divorced in 2013 and Jason Aldean's relationship with Brittany Aldean was confirmed by Us Weekly the following year. Jason and Brittany Aldean tied the knot in 2015 and welcomed Memphis in December 2017 — followed by Navy in 2019. On Dec. 1, Jason Aldean took to Instagram to celebrate his son's seventh birthday. '7 years with this little guy has been a blessing. Happy birthday lil man. Hope you have the best day ever! I love you so much buddy,' he wrote in the caption alongside old and current photos of Memphis. The following month, Jason Aldean took his son for a 'boys day' trip. 'Memphis crushed his first offshore trip! Had a blast with the boys on 'the bounty.' Thanks for making it a really cool day for him,' he wrote alongside a video of the father-son duo's fishing adventure. On May 11, Brittany Aldean posted photos of her family of four in honor of Mother's Day. 'It's the most challenging yet rewarding job in the world,' she wrote of motherhood in the caption. 'I hope everyone feels appreciated today and always.' As for Jason Aldean — he left a heartfelt message in the comment section. 'Happy Mother's Day babe. You are an AMAZING mama and we all love you so much,' he wrote.

The event will also recognize song of the year, songwriter of the year, songwriter-artist of the year, the 10 Songs I Wish I'd Written awards, and the legendary song award. Both songwriter and songwriter-artist of the year are contingent on chart performance, while the other award categories are peer-voted and determined by NSAI's professional membership of songwriters. The song of the year award is given to the song that receives the most votes in the 10 Songs I Wish I'd Written voting process. The legendary song award, which was introduced in 2024, was developed as a way to honor a song that is deemed legendary above all others in the designated time frame. The eligibility period for this year's award was 1968-1984. The NSAI board of directors selected 10 songs from that time frame for the pro membership to vote on to determine the top legendary song. The NSAI is the world's largest not-for-profit songwriters trade organization dedicated to protecting the rights of and serving aspiring and professional songwriters in all genres of music. Fans prep for Saskatchewan's largest music festival in Craven

WATCH: Country music fans are taking over the village of Craven for Country Thunder. Sierra D'Souza Butts brings us more. Country music fans are taking over the village of Craven for this year's Country Thunder Saskatchewan. 'It doesn't matter what side of the aisle you're from or any of that. None of that matters. It's just [about] having fun,' said Brant Britton, who has been attending the festival for 15 years with his family. Britton is one of thousands of campers preparing for the province's largest country music festival - which runs from July 10th-13th. 'It's an old community you're coming back to. It's like a ghost town that revitalizes for four days every year,' he added. Throughout the day on Wednesday, people rolled into the campgrounds with their motorhomes and camping equipment to set up for the weekend event. The festival's lineup consists of close to 20 musicians – including country music superstars Jason Aldean and Bailey Zimmerman, along with the 1980s rock group Def Leppard. 'Some of the shows that we do that they are legacy festivals, they're historical festivals, and we have a really strong fan base of bands that [have] been coming for years and years,' shared Kim Blevins, executive director of Country Thunder Music Festivals. Craven Country Thunder Campgrounds at Country Thunder Saskatchewan in Craven start to fill as gates open for Saskatchewan's largest country festival. (Gareth Dillistone/CTV News) As the event is one of seven festivals happening across North America, Blevins explained that a lot of preparation goes into each event - but Saskatchewan's is a special case. 'Craven is the granddaddy. This is the one that started it all,' she shared. 'We all started here in 2005 and Troy [Vollhoffer] started here in 1983. The first iteration of the Big Valley Jamboree way, way, way back. We're pretty proud of the fact that we built this brand across North America over the last 20 years and it all started here in little Craven in the Qu'Appelle Valley.' 'That to me is super special,' she added. Over 20,000 people are expected to flood into the valley over the course of the four day festival. The event will kick-off with local talent from Shaunavon, Sask. - as the Hunter Brothers are set to take the main stage Thursday night.
