Create Account The league released a proposed resolution on Thursday on the issue that will be considered next week by owners at the spring meetings in Minnesota. If the resolution is approved by at least 24 of the 32 owners, the league would be allowed to negotiate with the NFL Players Association, Olympic officials and national governing bodies on the specifics of letting NFL players participate. The NFL has been making a big push into flag football in hopes of increasing youth participation and opportunities for women in the sport. The league played a major role in making sure the Los Angeles Olympics would be the first with flag football with events for both men and women. Several star players, including Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Miami receiver Tyreek Hill, have expressed interest in the past in participating in the Olympics. Minnesota running back Aaron Jones lit up when asked last month about the possibility. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. 'I would absolutely love it. Every other sport gets an opportunity to win a gold medal,' Jones said. 'And if you're not serving your country in the military, I feel like that's the other highest honor.' The proposal would allow only one player per NFL team to be selected by a country for the Olympics in addition to each team's designated international player. It also provides for injury protection and salary cap credit in case of any injuries and requires minimum standards for medical staffs and field surfaces. The 2028 Games will be held from July 14-30. Training camps would typically open for teams that summer in the final week of July based on the current league schedule.

Seattle Seahawks WR room undergoing big makeover
Seattle Seahawks WR room undergoing big makeover The Seattle Seahawks released one receiver and will explore trading another. One of the Arizona Cardinals' NFC West rivals is undergoing a huge transition at receiver. The Seattle Seahawks will be turning over the receiver room to Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The team announced the release of Tyler Lockett, who played for Seattle for the last decade. Lockett, now 32 years old, was due $17 million in 2025, including a roster bonus of $5.3 million that was due March 16. He was going to count $30 million against the cap. They save the $17 million cap space. The Seahawks were over the cap and must get below it before the league year begins next Wednesday. Lockett had 49 receptions for 600 yards and two touchdowns. But that wasn't all in the receiver room. Fellow receiver DK Metcalf requested a trade and the Seahawks agreed to explore options. Metcalf, a two-time Pro Bowler, caught 66 passes for 992 yards and five touchdowns. He is entering the final year of his contract, due $18 million in salary. He would like a new deal. If a deal does eventually go down, that would mean Seattle is saying goodbye to over 110 catches and nearly 1,600 yards of offense. With the recent trade agreement the San Francisco 49ers made to send receiver Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders and the intention of the Los Angeles Rams to trade Cooper Kupp, the division will look vastly different at receiver in the NFC West. Happy birthday to Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba!
A celebratory post is in order for rising Seattle Seahawks star Jaxon Smith-Njigba! The former Buckeye-turned Seahawks Pro Bowler turned 23 years old today, officially entering into his Jordan year. The Seahawks wide receiver, in his second season in the league, had a career year. JSN built upon his rookie campaign and emerged as a legitimate star in this league in 2024. JSN hauled in 100 receptions (tying Tyler Lockett for most in a single season in Seattle history) for 1,130 yards and six touchdowns. All were personal best numbers. I know I speak for all the 12's when I say I for one cannot wait to see what JSN has in store for year three, especially under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.

Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba is headed to the Pro Bowl!
Congratulations are in order for Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. On Tuesday morning it was revealed the second year star would be receiving his first trip to the Pro Bowl! JSN will be replacing Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin who has bowed out due to an injury. JSN joins his fellow 2023 first round classmate Devon Witherspoon in the Pro Bowl, as well as defensive lineman Leonard Williams. Big Cat himself was announced as a Pro Bowler on Monday, replacing Philadelphia's Jalen Carter. JSN's inclusion to the Pro Bowl this year keeps a shockingly impressive streak alive for the Seahawks. This is now the 14th consecutive year Seattle has had at least three representatives participating in… or named to… the Pro Bowl. The caveat here being the two Super Bowl years where no Seahawk participated as they were preparing for, well, you know, the Super Bowl. The 2024 campaign was a breakout year for JSN, who set new career-best marks in every category. JSN hauled in 100 receptions (tying Tyler Lockett's single-season franchise reception record) for 1,130 yards and six touchdowns. His emergence reminded everyone why the Seahawks made him the first wide receiver selected in the 2023 NFL draft.
