The Boston Celtics could still be open for business on the trade market
With Las Vegas Summer League drawing to a close, Boston Celtics fans will be turning their attention back to the current rebuilding project Brad Stevens is undertaking. The President of Basketball Operations has already taken the first steps to re-tooling the roster, trading away Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis. He's also waived goodbye to Luke Kornet and potentially Al Horford in free agency. Nevertheless, Boston is expected to continue wheeling and dealing throughout the summer. Anfernee Simons and Georges Niang, two players the Celtics acquired via trades this summer, could be re-routed before the start of the season. In a recent Bleacher Report live stream, NBA Insider Jake Fischer noted how teams around the NBA are working under the impression that Boston is still open for business. "As we discussed, I think the Celtics are still very active in taking trade calls—maybe even making trade calls," Fischer said. "There was some conversation last week between Memphis and Boston about something. We're still looking to track down more info on that. But rival teams are definitely still under the impression that Boston is looking for deals involving both Anfernee Simons and Georges Niang." Stevens' goal will be to have the Celtics ready to compete for a championship once Jayson Tatum returns from his Achilles tendon injury. Therefore, he has this summer, the 2026 trade deadline, and next summer to make the necessary moves to get Boston back on track. As such, the Celtics aren't operating under a stringent time frame. They can be smart about the moves they make. Unfortunately, in the meantime, Celtics fans may need to endure a losing season. Still, if that bitter pill leads to another parade in the near future, it will be deemed a sacrifice worth making. Adolescence is the miniseries of the year — and you can watch it now on Netflix (July 18-20)
Netflix has never been my favorite streaming service, perhaps because I want to think I'm too cool for it. Still, the streamer has an undeniable roster of excellent shows, and many of those shows are ones you might not necessarily think are worth your time. I've done the hard part for you, pulling together three shows that I think are worth spending some time with this weekend. These shows are all wildly different tones and lengths, which means that you should be able to find something that piques your interest. Recommended Videos Need more recommendations? Then check out the best new shows to stream this week, as well as the best shows on Netflix, the best shows on Hulu, the best shows on Amazon Prime Video, the best shows on HBO Max, and the best shows on Disney+. Starting 5 (2024-) Basketball is one of the most fascinating American pastimes, and that's in part because its stars are so interesting. Starting 5 is a docuseries that chronicles the lives of five of the biggest basketball players, including Anthony Edwards, Jayson Tatum, Jimmy Butler, Domantas Sabonis, and LeBron James. In telling their stories both off the court and on it, we come to understand how they see the game and one another. We also learn just how different they are from one another and why each of them has found such tremendous success on the court. You can watch Starting 5 on Netflix. Adolescence (2025) One of the great miniseries of 2025, Adolescence is a show you should definitely catch up with if you haven't seen it. The series tells the story of a family whose world is turned upside down after they discover that their son has been accused of murdering a female schoolmate. Each episode of the show focuses on a different perspective, and the result is a remarkably up-to-the-moment look at how a seemingly normal young man can become someone who might kill one of their classmates. It's a harrowing watch, but one that is worth spending time with. You can watch Adolescence on Netflix. Mr. Robot (2015-2019) Few television shows were more consistently surprising than Mr. Robot. Throughout four seasons, the show followed its central character — a brilliant but reclusive hacker hellbent on changing the world — in the middle of a vast conspiracy that he couldn't fully comprehend. Mr. Robot was unafraid of getting deeply weird, and not every swing the show took worked. However, enough of them did to give you a picture of a series that had full control over its ideas. Anchored by remarkable work from Rami Malek, Mr. Robot was worth the hype it received early on. You can watch Mr. Robot on Netflix.

Celtics three-team trade proposal lands six-time All-Star for Anfernee Simons
The Boston Celtics have been in cost-cutting mode this offseason, and they may not be done trimming their payroll. Facing severe financial constraints and second-apron penalties, the Celtics traded away two key pieces from their 2024 title run in June. Jrue Holiday was sent to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Anfernee Simons, while Kristaps Porzingis was dealt to the Atlanta Hawks in a salary dump that brought in Georges Niang and a second-round pick. Al Horford is also expected to walk in free agency. Now, Boston could look to make another trade this summer to clear more cap space, according to Here's the proposed trade: Celtics receive: DeMar DeRozan, Keon Ellis, 2026 second-round pick (BOS via ATL), 2029 second-round pick (ATL via CLE), 2032 second-round pick swap (via ATL) Hawks receive: Sam Hauser and Terence Davis Kings receive: Anfernee Simons, Georges Niang, 2027 first-round pick (via BOS) DeRozan is an extremely talented player who has remained productive in the latter stages of his career, averaging 22.2 points, 4.4 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game in 77 regular-season appearances during 2024-25. The six-time All-Star could help the team stay competitive while Jayson Tatum recovers from a torn right Achilles tendon, which he suffered in Boston's second-round playoff loss to the Knicks. MORE: NBA writer calls Celtics' offseason a 'bummer' amid retooling effort Ellis is on a cost-effective yet expiring deal. The Celtics could attempt to keep him in Boston on a long-term pact, which would make trading away a first-round pick more worthwhile. While giving up a sharpshooter and member of the team's 2024 championship roster in Hauser would sting, he's slated to make more than $10 million in each of the next four seasons. Either way, it's unlikely the Celtics will contend for a title this season, so it wouldn't be surprising if they continue to cut costs and try to avoid long-term implications. Caitlin Clark didn't get to explore Boston much, but it's safe to say she likes the Celtics' style
'Well, maybe, I guess you could hate 'em,' she said to laughs. 'I think, for myself, the Celtics [are] one of the premier organizations of the NBA. You always grow up knowing what the Celtics are about, and obviously, having won a championship two years ago now, it's kind of cool to just be in this building and … surround yourself with the greatness that has played in this arena.' Advertisement Clark shouted out a few players — Jayson Tatum, Derrick White, and Jaylen Brown, the latter of whom was among the sold-out crowd of 19,156. Related : 'They shoot a lot of threes, which, maybe people make an argument against, but for myself, I think that's fun,' she said. (Sounds like Joe Mazzulla would be a Clark fan.) 'I enjoy that, I think it's a great style of basketball. So, I think anytime you come into an arena and there's just so much history hanging from the rafters, you certainly look up and soak it in.' Clark and the Fever flew into Boston after their win Sunday over the Wings in Dallas, so she didn't have much time to explore the city before preparing for Indiana's eventual 85-77 win over Connecticut. She and teammate Lexi Hull ate at Earl's Kitchen + Bar near their hotel in the Back Bay, but Clark 'didn't really get to do a ton.' Advertisement Clark checked the Red Sox schedule to see if they were in town and she struck out. MLB is on its All-Star break. Related : 'I would have loved to go to a Red Sox game and seen Fenway. I guess I could have gone to Fenway and looked at it with no people in it, but I didn't do that,' she joked. She said she'd like to come back and explore Boston's history. 'I honestly was on TikTok, [searching] the best things to do in Boston, just so I can see even though I'm not going to do them. And I think that's what's fun about going to these new places in these new cities, you get to experience the culture and the people that are here too.' Katie McInerney can be reached at
