2025 Rookie Stat Prediction: Ashton Jeanty

2025 Rookie Stat Prediction: Ashton Jeanty The Las Vegas Raiders made a tempo setting move when they took Memphis running back Ashton Jeanty at the top end of round one in the 2025 NFL Draft. A Heisman finalist and one of the best players in the country, Jeanty is a slam dunk for a team wanting to forge a new identity under head coach Pete Carroll. With Las Vegas boasting a new quarterback in Geno Smith who can put up the deep ball as well as anyone in the league, Jeanty should have plenty of opportunity with teams unable to load the box against him. Given Jeanty should be the easily number one back on the team, and that he should be the tempo setting engine that makes the offense move, he should see plenty of action throughout the season and be one of the leagues most productive backs. Given his skillset and the amount of opportunity he will get, expect Jeanty to be the heavy favorite for 'Offensive Rookie of the Year' as he should be one of the top producers at his position. Prediction: 1,300 rush yards, 550 receiving yards, 14 touchdowns

The new 'Beast Mode'? Why Ashton Jeanty was destined to be with Raiders

The new 'Beast Mode'? Why Ashton Jeanty was destined to be with Raiders Show Caption Hide Caption Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty excited to play for Pete Carroll Ashton Jeanty is getting ready to start his NFL career with the Las Vegas Raiders. He hopes he can recreate the magic Pete Carroll had with Marshawn Lynch in Seattle. Ashton Jeanty might have been destined to be coached by Pete Carroll. The Boise State product and 2024 Heisman Trophy finalist grew up watching a former running back who starred under Carroll in the Pacific Northwest. 'I take a lot of different things from different guys. But one of the first guys I really watched, was Marshawn Lynch, crazy,' Jeanty told USA TODAY Sports, during a promotional appearance with Sharpie. 'Just loved his physical running style, and how he broke so many tackles.' Carroll had Lynch in the backfield for seven total seasons when he was the Seattle Seahawks head coach. Lynch rushed for 6,381 yards, was the single season rushing touchdown leader in 2013-14, was named to four Pro Bowls and helped the team win Super Bowl 48. NFL ROOKIE WATCH: Five non-first round players to make noise after minicamp Lynch powered one of the most famous runs in NFL history during his Seattle days and was appropriately nicknamed 'Beast Mode' for his aggressive running style. Under Carroll, Seattle had the NFL's best rushing offense in 2014 and a top-five rushing attack from 2012-15. Fixing Las Vegas' running game has headlined Carroll's responsibilities since being named the Raiders head coach in January. The Raiders averaged an NFL-worst 79.8 rushing yards a contest last season, the fewest single-season average of any club since 2022. Carroll's reputation and the Raiders' inefficient ground attack is why Las Vegas was a popular speculated landing spot for Jeanty ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. Jeanty compiled 2,601 rushing yards his final year at Boise State, the second-most ever in a single season in FBS history, and won the Doak Walker Award. 'He's doing great. He really is. He's right on point with everything that we're doing. He's studying really hard. He's been really diligent about all aspects. There's nothing that he doesn't find important,' Carroll said of Jeanty last week. 'We're not holding anything back on him. He's getting a lot of plays.' Not only has he gotten plenty of plays, but the No. 6 overall pick believes he's ready for them as the Raiders' new workhorse running back. 'Already, I can see from the run schemes, and how we've started off getting with the guys and OTAs. We want to establish a run game. We want to be a very physical football team. We want to be able to make teams quit in the fourth quarter,' Jeanty explained. 'So just having that identity, coming from the head coach, and understanding that, right? He says it every day at practice, like, 'Hey, running backs, you guys set the tempo for everybody.' "How the defenders can finish every play and chase after the ball, to making the right cuts, pressing the line of scrimmage, all those types of things. I'm super excited for it.' MORE: Breakout rookie candidates for all 32 NFL teams If Jeanty has it his way, maybe he'll create his own variation of 'Beast Mode' with the Silver and Black. 'It's amazing, especially with how he used (Lynch) so much in the rushing attack,' Jeanty said. 'It makes me even more excited. I can kind of be that next iconic running back to play for Pete Carroll.' Follow USA TODAY Sports' Tyler Dragon on X @TheTylerDragon.

3 Wide Receivers To Buy In Dynasty Fantasy Football (May)

TUCSON, ARIZONA - OCTOBER 19: Tetairoa McMillan #4 of the University of Arizona lines up at wide ... More receiver against the University of Colorado at Arizona Stadium on October 19, 2024 in Tucson, Arizona. (Photo by) After looking into this same topic in April, we're back now that the NFL Draft is in the books. With that said, let's look at 3 Wide Receivers to Buy in Dynasty Fantasy Football. Wide receiver is one of the best positions to trade for players at because it's a wide open landscape and these players have long careers. While there's a ton of natural volatility in fantasy football, the running back position gets shaken up a lot more than wide receiver on a year to year basis. Without further ado, let's dive into the three wide receivers that you should buy in dynasty fantasy football based on Keep Trade Cut values. The first player on this list is a rookie who is significantly more expensive than the rest of these players. If you didn't read my Tetairoa McMillan rookie breakdown, you may not understand just how high I am on him. To give you the rundown, I'm much more confident that McMillan will be an elite dynasty asset for longer than Jeanty due to the longevity of wide receivers. As a prospect, McMillan showed off elite speed, ball skills and size at 6'4' and 212 lbs. For reference, McMillan was ranked higher than Ashton Jeanty for me. On KTC, Jeanty is 13th overall and McMillan is 38th, making him an easy buy candidate for me. Although McMillan is expensive, buy him before no one wants to sell. Continuing on the theme of rookies, Kyle Williams is a great value as well. Prior to the NFL Draft, I wrote that Williams is a hidden gem. Williams is explosive with the ball in his hand, his releases are fantastic and he dominated man coverage, earning an 89.8 PFF grade against it. Now Williams is stepping into a situation where he has a chance to contribute early as he was a day two pick (round three). The only other option in that offense is Stefon Diggs, who is coming off an ACL injury at 31 years old. Getting a chance to be the number one option for rising superstar Drake Maye is an opportunity that you aren't going to want to miss. If Maye, the third overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, can put things together next year, Williams will also benefit. CLEVELAND, OHIO - NOVEMBER 21: Cedric Tillman #19 of the Cleveland Browns runs onto the field prior ... More to an NFL football game against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Huntington Bank Field on November 21, 2024 in Cleveland, Ohio. (Photo by) The last player on this list is Cedric Tillman, who is only 25 years old. Tillman is entering year three and he could have had a massive year in 2024 had he not suffered a concussion in week eight. Tillman was a strong prospect from Tennessee, going in round three of the NFL Draft and earning praise from legend Steve Smith. In 2024, Tillman had a monster three game stretch where he had 18.1, 28.9 and 19.5 points in weeks seven through nine. With the Cleveland Browns not drafting Travis Hunter, Tillman is still set to be the WR2 behind Jerry Jeudy. If Tillman can put things together and the Browns can find a capable quarterback, expect Tillman to skyrocket in value. With May coming to a close, these are my 3 Wide Receivers to Buy in Dynasty Fantasy Football. If you've enjoyed the dynasty content, make sure to come back for more!

Why new Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty 'wasn't willing' to give up No. 2 jersey

Why new Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty 'wasn't willing' to give up No. 2 jersey Show Caption Hide Caption Ashton Jeanty paid six figures to fellow Raider for number 2 USAT's Tyler Dragon asks about the amount of money new Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty paid for his number 2. Sports Seriously The number two is extremely important to Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty. 'It just means a lot to me and my family. A lot of my family who played sports wore No. 2,' Jeanty told USA TODAY Sports, during a promotional appearance with Sharpie. 'Then I was born on December 2. The legacy, the greatness, and I was born that day. There's just a lot of meaning behind it. And for the brand, I wasn't willing to give it up.' Jeanty wore No. 2 at Lone Star High School in Frisco, Texas, and at Boise State, where he became the school's all-time leading rusher, achieved the second-highest single-season rushing total in FBS history and was a Heisman Trophy finalist. When the Raiders selected Jeanty in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, he wanted to wear No. 2 at all costs. Literally. Jeanty negotiated with Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson for the number. Carlson had worn No. 2 for the past five seasons. The kicker sported No. 8 when he first joined the Raiders in 2018 but changed to No. 2 to accommodate Marcus Mariota when the QB arrived. Fast forward to now, Carlson is going back to No. 8 because Jeanty paid a hefty price for the number. Jeanty told Kay Adams this week on "Up and Adams" that he paid six figures for the number. The running back confirmed the price tag to USA TODAY Sports. 'It's true,' Jeanty said. Jeanty wouldn't specify the exact amount he paid for his beloved number, but the running back did say Carlson could purchase a luxury car. 'He could buy a nice Mercedes,' a smiling Jeanty said. The Raiders officially signed Jeanty to his rookie contract on May 8. His contract is worth a total value of $35.9 million, so it's safe to say he could afford the six-figure amount he paid Carlson. Ashton Jeanty paid Daniel Carlson a hefty price to secure the No. 2

Ashton Jeanty's nickname is 'Deuce' for the jersey number he has worn in his career, including last season at Boise State when he became a Heisman finalist. 'I've worn it the majority of my career,' Jeanty told Kay Adams this week on Up and Adams. 'It's the day greatness was born, the day I was born — December 2. It's a family number. All my family members who played sports, they wore No. 2.' So, having another number in the NFL, didn't exactly fit his narrative. That's why Jeanty paid what he had to pay to kicker Daniel Carlson, who has worn No. 2 for the past five seasons with the Raiders. 'You could probably buy a house,' Jeanty told Adams. 'Actually, I'm not going to say a house. You could buy a car, like a nice Mercedes.' Jeanty wouldn't say exactly what he paid but did allow that some of the money will go to charity. He added that the total cost he paid was the cost of a Mercedes GLE, so he spent something over $60,000. When he asked for No. 2, Jeanty said Raiders equipment manager Bob Romanski sent him to Carlson. Carlson switched from No. 8 to No. 2 in 2020 when Marcus Mariota arrived and asked Carlson for No. 8. 'I called him and I'm like, 'I'm trying to get that No. 2. I'm willing to negotiate whatever you're thinking,'' Jeanty said. 'I gave him what I was thinking first. Then, he came back, and I'm like, 'I've got to do it. I got to drop that little bag for No. 2.'' So, the Deuce brand lives on, with Carlson switching back to No. 8.
