Day 2 draft pick named favorite Arizona Cardinals selection in 2025 draft
Day 2 draft pick named favorite Arizona Cardinals selection in 2025 draft Draft Wire's Jeff Risdon declares his favorite pick for the Cardinals in the 2025 NFL draft. The Arizona Cardinals wrapped up their seven-player class from the 2025 NFL draft last weekend, picking one player in each round. Over the next few seasons, we will find out who ends up being the best player of the group. But following the draft, people will have their favorite picks. For Draft Wire managing editor Jeff Risdon, his favorite pick for the Cardinals came in the second round when cornerback Will Johnson fell from the first round into their laps with the 47th overall pick in the draft. The playmaking Michigan corner fell out of being a potential top-10 pick due to serious injury concerns. If he's healthy, Johnson is a ridiculous value in the middle of the second round. He's a good schematic fit for the zone-heavy Cardinals, too. Johnson was considered a top-15 talent in the draft and, after Travis Hunter, was largely viewed as the top boundary cornerback in the draft. The Cardinals have a lot of cornerbacks on the roster, but he has a higher ceiling than anyone currently on the team. The question will be his health. He dealt with knee, shoulder and toe injuries in college and then his hamstring in the pre-draft process. Many NFL teams see long-term knee issues for him, even though his knee does not now hurt. But if Johnson can play at the level he did as a cover guy in college, getting him in the second round will have been an absolute steal. Broncos trade up in 2-round NFL mock draft
Broncos trade up in 2-round NFL mock draft In his recent two-round NFL mock draft for Draft Wire, Jeff Risdon has the Denver Broncos trading up to select a top tight end prospect. In the mock draft, the Broncos send picks Nos. 20 and No. 85 (third round), plus a 2026 sixth-round selection to the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for pick No. 15 and a 2026 fifth-round pick. After moving up, Denver lands Michigan tight end Colston Loveland. "The Broncos surge up to secure Loveland, who is neck and neck with Warren to be the top TE, and there is a definite drop-off (perceived anyway) enough to spur the action," Risdon wrote for Draft Wire. Before Denver's pick, the Chicago Bears traded up to No. 6 overall to select Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty. Eight picks later, the Indianapolis Colts took Penn State tight end Tyler Warren at No. 14. In the second round, the Broncos land Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson at pick No. 51. Safeties in final 2025 NFL draft top 250 player rankings
Safeties in final 2025 NFL draft top 250 player rankings The safety class isn't considered great in the 2025 draft. In Draft Wire's top 250 rankings, only 14 make the cut. The 2025 NFL draft is days away, beginning next Thursday night. Teams are finalizing their draft boards, including the Arizona Cardinals. As we approach the actual draft, Draft Wire managing editor Jeff Risdon has put together his final player rankings, ranking players 1-250. This series of stories will break down each position group and list each player on the list, showing where they rank. Here are the safeties. This is not a great class and the Cardinals seem set at the position, but let's have a look at who is there. NFL draft final player rankings: Safeties Malaki Starks, Georgia (No. 4) Nick Emmanwori, South Carolina (No. 19) Xavier Watts, Notre Dame (No. 81) Kevin Winston Jr., Penn State (No. 94) Andrew Mukuba, Texas (No. 95) Lathan Ransom, Ohio State (No. 101) Malachi Moore, Alabama (No. 105) Billy Bowman, Oklahoma (No. 123) Kitan Crawford, Nevada (No. 155) Marcus Sigle, Kansas State (No. 171) Sebastian Castro, Iowa (No. 176) Jaylen Reed, Penn State (No. 182) Dante Trader, Maryland (No. 205) Kenny Gallop, Howard (No. 236) Possibilities for the Cardinals It would be a surprise to see the Cardinals take any safety before Day 3, so that would seem to rule out Starks and Emmanwori, and the next group of guys, too. However, guys like Ransom or Watts fell to Day 3, it would be reasonable. Crawford is an intriguing prospect because he is a freak athlete and a standout on special teams.
